  1. Welcome friend.
  2. I tried a friends Quantum Tour Edition PT reel, I think its alittle above your price range, but that reel convinced me to buy a baitcaster this year. I could throw the heck out of it. Good distance, great control, just an easy reel to use.
  3. Welcome to a great place Steve.
  4. I really wanna feel bad for you southerners, but I live in the greaqter Chicago area. My fault for movin here, i know. I am so d&mn sick of the snow and ice that i have lost all sympathy and compassion for those south of the mason-dixon line! ;D J/K lol! I feel your pain, I hope the weather works out better soon, someone should be able to open-water fish in comfort.
  5. I hate the no-mans-land lure sail.............I think The_natual has it on the head. Kinks. Those rotten things will get you if your line is not spooled with enough tension. :'(
  6. Welcome to the site, friend.
  7. Welcome friend.
  8. Welcome, feel free to send a pm when ever in the greater dupage area. I will feel free to do the same when heading to your neck of the woods. :
  9. High Water, Early Evening, Light Rain, and Bitin' Bass!
  10. Dont forget Northern Pike, Walleye, and musky.

I love this style bait for early morning(pre sun-up) and evening/ night. My preference is the booyah boogie bait, good quality, great action. You do have to be careful, though, that the blade clip dosnt open during the coarse of fishing it.

I use primarily Booyah and strike king, but i think color selection and trailer selection are more important.
  14. Absolutly Power Pro. Also, did you add 5-8 yards of mono backer? Its really important to have that backer on.
  15. Thanks everyone, I did get the skirted model, just seemed to look impressive. I will certainly try them out on the Fox river in some current. If all else fails, the tip for drop shotting was great. Thanks again and good fishing. 8-)
  16. Mentoring programs and the "Take a kid fishing" days. This sport would be nothing without keeping interest going throughout the generations.
  17. I went to a fishing show today and they were on clearance, 2 for 5 bucks. Figured I would feed the bait monkey a cheap snack. Has anyone had any experience with these lures? They sure look flashy, Im hoping they work as well or better than a boogie bait. Thanks.
  18. Well, not that I support slamming the Mods. with extra work, but it seems to me that they will move it if it is mis-placed. That being said, I use my 95' Ford E-350, plenty of storage, and a tow pakage,(which is useless since I dont YET have a boat). Its been great, because I can have one piece rods with no problem. The down side is 12-13 mpg, going down hill, with a tail wind. Really hurt the wallet last summer.
  19. It tells me that no matter what i see when passing my favorite lakes today, that the stupid ice WILL melt, and i will once again have open water to fish...... 8-)
  20. Now thats recycling I can get into!
  21. 5# even on a booyah boogie bait, ozark smoke, late evening, Deep Quarry lake, il. followed on the next cast with a 4# 10 oz, same bait. Not huge by alot of standards, but what a great memory..... 8-) Oh yeah, early September.
  22. Well, ill leave off with this, every man has his opinions and beliefs, and where we may not all agree, I think its safe to say we all love fishing.
  23. Illinois runs from April 1 to March 31. 13.00 for a resident licence, 6.00 each for inland trout and lake mich. salmon stamps. so 25.00 to fish for what ever I want all year. That being said, It will cost me another couple hundred for our three neighboring states, MI, WI, and IN.
  24. I suppose I should tell you guys that I am not a tourny fisherman, however, I do fish for bedding bass, with some luck, and release them at the catch site.
