  1. Nice job guys! I always appreciate the info! I've got a plan that I hope gets them good all day long. Will share the results Monday morning!!
  2. If you plan on launching from Bull Run and heading up, I would pay attention to the top and bottom of the islands, wood and grassy areas where the creek channel gets up close to the banks. Be careful, stay in the creek channels, lots of big stumps and submerged trees that will ruin your day!
  3. Depends on which park you launch from. Lake ridge, the two main lake points as you leave the creek. FH, the grass point across from the marina is always a good spot as well as the old Ryan's dam. Those a a few community holes that usually produce good numbers as well as quality fish!
  4. Yep, it's a long day for sure. I'm usually out of bed at 1:30am and on my way to the park by 2:30. I try to help everyone get launched and settled. I get there early so I can get a parking spot because I absolutely despise that walk up the hill! Fish all day, try to help with weigh in and get home about 6:30pm. Should be another good tx with lots of big fish and big weights. Can't wait for Sunday!!
  5. Thanks guys! You can check out fountainheadbassclub.com. Plenty of pics from this year and years past. Roger does a great job with the web site!
  6. Watermelon candy
  7. Finess worm t rigged with a 1/32 bullet sinker pegged. In the spillway, throw to the areas where the water is rolling over the dam and swim/twitch it thru the disturbed water. I would try a small shad looking crank you can throw on spinning gear. The fish I caught were so fat with minnows it was funny. In the lake, same bait, try and find some lay downs and fish it as close to the tree as possible. You used to be able to catch some nice bass below the dam in the spillway. Have not really tried extra hard to see if they are still in there but I wouldn't be surprised. Right before dusk and the park closes, I used to throw a smallish buzz bait along the edge of the spillway and thru the little flows and catch some nice fish!
  8. Thanks DJ, it's been tough to beak into the money lately. We do a 6 fish limit and last tx we had 28 boats show up which is about average for a summer tx. 9 teams had over 20lbs with 2 over 23lbs! My partner and I had 21.24 and should have had well over 25 with missed fish we had hooked up, flew out of the water and either threw the bait or came unbuttoned at the boat!
  9. Just for grins, I tried a little today at accotink. 3 lil fellas in the spillway below the dam and missed a good one up in the main lake on the end of a tree!
  10. Yes, tx = tournament, at least that's the way I abreviate it!
  11. Just be prepared, we have a tx Sunday!! Got a look at the water level and clarity today, wish I could have been fishing!! Water looks perfect!!
  12. ^^^^^ spot on. You need the launch pass and the key.
  13. ^^^^ This is why I love BR! All of BR, sponsors, members, mods! Feedback is met with time and effort to fix things. Kudos
  14. Water has been steady dropping since Saturday evening. Stained water is working its way down the res. Backs of creeks will clear first with sediment slowly dropping out of the water column. Should be great by the end of the week and weekend. The sun will also help clear the water up!
  15. You have to buy the launch pass to purchase the key. All told about $120. Pass is good at FH, Bull Run Algonkian, Pohick. A little less if you don't want Pohick!
  16. The trick was getting into the big creeks down lake. Water had much better visibility and the fish were really shallow. Flipping baits into shallow cover as well as buzzbaits early and late in the day.
  17. I think you absolutely did the correct thing. When you purchase a fishing liscense, you also take on the responsibility of being a conservator of your natural resources. Good for you, you have set a great example for everyone here to follow!
  18. The dredge was there for a year. The lake was still full when this was taking place. They spent thousands of taxpayer dollars running a tube from accotink to the upper pond off industrial dr. It took so long because the equipment was always broken down. They said the dredge was running into soo many root balls and tree trunks on the bottom, they were unable to break it apart. After that, they drained the lake for dam repairs. I've lived in Springfield since 1971 and have seen the lake down several times and have fished it when the water was down. Defiantly one of the biggest scams I have ever witnessed.
  19. If you have an extra $125.00, I'd grab that motor!! Looks to be in great shape and if you ever get a jon boat, it's a perfect one to have!!
  20. Maybe even flare the weed guard a bit??
  21. It used to have a nice population of good sized bass. I caught a 4lber a couple years ago and saw a few decent sized fish spawning last year. Most of the time I've spent fishing there was along the riprap with small blades and buzz baits. That was before they pretended to dredge the lake! If you are standing at the marina and look way back to the right you will see a couple of big lay downs. you might be able to still catch a few back there with some small t rigged worms.
  22. I believe they are a 56lb thrust with the larger prop like the one pictured. You also nee the "pan" that goes with that motor to install it correctly. How much was it listed for on CL?
