My Pfd Testimonial.
Andrew, glad you and your buddy were able to tell this story. I am very familiar with the bridges right there and have encountered the same "woah, where did these come from" waves while fishing the railroad bridges just below the 14th st bridges! I was showing the wife's family around the district all weekend and saw several boaters enjoying the nice weather. Glad you will be able to continue the journey!!

Polarized Sunglasses
I always like this topic, and always try to be consistent in how I answer. You only have one set of eyes so how can you put a price in your vision? Do some research on how UV rays effect long term vision. Find a manufacturer that filters the most of these harmful rays. If you need to save some money to pay for said glasses, I would advise you do so. To those of you that loose, break, drop, sit on, or do anything else that results in the untimely demise of your prized lenses and think a little extra $$ is not worth the effort, believe me if you have any respect for the almighty dollar, you will pay more attention to how you treat your glasses. I have been a fan of Haber sunglasses for quite a few years now. 5 to be exact and my pair are amber glass lenses with one very small scratch. The finish on the lenses is flawless. These glasses are only used when fishing, driving, beach and anytime not involving work. I will be purchasing another pair before the end of the year!!

Baitcaster Flouro Issues For Me
I don't have any experience with invis-x or abraz-x. I do however like the segar red label in the 17lb and below. I too find that 20+lb test floros can be a little un manageable at times. Unlike WRB, I like the KVD line and lure and make it part of my routine when preparing for a day on the water. I think you will find with a little tuning and practice, you will enjoy fishing with fluorocarbon lines. If not, nothing wrong with sticking with the braid. It may also take a few tries with different lines to find one that suites your needs.

Baitcaster Flouro Issues For Me
That's why dogs don't fish, they ain't got no thumbs!! Seriously tho, check your settings and learn to feather your cast with a well educated thumb and your problems will be lessened. We all backlash from time to time so don't expect perfection from every type of line!

Shad Everywhere But No Bites?
My experience has been that if the schools are broken up, they are being preyed upon!!

Shad Everywhere But No Bites?
Get yourself some scroungers and thread on a superfluke. Cast past the bait and count it down to the bottom of the bait and hang on!

Any Advice For Fishing The Occoquan Reservoir This Weekend?
Had to venture out on the res and check out water situation with all the rain we had! Launched from fountainhead and the water was chocolate milk. I tried some cuts and creeks near the launch and missed a few flipping a beaver. Long story short, lots of missed fish, lots of smallish fish and one good one! Didn't weigh her but I'm guessing close to 5

Jerkbaits On A 6'8" Mxf
Thanks Randy, like I said "most", not all and "more than likely", not all the time. Jerkbaits behave differently depending on water temp as well. If I'm looking for consistency, I'll choose mono every time!

Do You Get Disappointed?
If I'm fun fishing, no big deal. In a tournament, sometimes. Occoquan res has a phenomenal flat head population, state record being caught here right around 66lbs. I've hooked into and caught some over 40lbs! Sometimes it's disappointing, but in the end, like you said, can't beat the rush of a giant on the end of your stick!!

Jerkbaits On A 6'8" Mxf
Never tried braid with a jb set up. I guess it could work depending on how active the fish are, like summer. If you are planning on a set up for cold water rip bait, I would strongly suggest mono or copolymer. Both are better applied when it comes to keeping your bait. Neutrally bouyant. Floro will more than likely make the bait sink while most braids will not allow the bait to suspend because of its floating qualities 10-12 lb mono for me (trilene XL has been good for me but might give the Sunline a shot), Powell Max rip bait rod, Calcutta 250. This setup has been very good to me!!

Shaky Head Snags?
Patience is the biggest key. I throw shakeys in tree tops all day long on light line and loose a few from time to time. Fish a sensitive line and sensitive rod and you should be able to eliminate a lot of your losses around wood and timber. You need to be able to determine when your shakey is against a limb and be able to finess it over and thru the limbs. A gentle shake usually frees the jighead. Don't get impatient and just try to rip it, if you feel the resistance of the branch and a gentle shake doesn't get the bait thru, let the jighead drop a couple inches and try to pop it around the obstruction!

Do yourself a favor and max out the apple care for 2 years. We have an iMac that had a power issue, repair costs would have been enormous without it!!

Any Advice For Fishing The Occoquan Reservoir This Weekend?
Not sure you are going to have a viable place to launch along the shore line there as it's all private property along there. The only place to launch is actually at the park ramp.
