  1. I am going to fish Burke tomorrow with my buddy Nelson. He wants to show me a spot where he lost a couple of good fish. I'm gonna try to get all who are interested in figuring out burke, on the lake before things get too cold. Thai, where is Heron Lake?? Not sure I've ever been there.
  2. Wow, nobody thinking or talking about getting out on Sunday in NOVA?? What is up with that?? Anyone brave the breezes today with any luck?? Just trying to get a feeling on where to venture on Sunday.
  3. First of all, you guys did very well for little knowledge of the brush piles. Now that you have a basic idea of how they have layed them out, it should get easier to find them and easier to determine which piles are going to be productive. For your first attempt at finding and fishing the Burke piles, well done.
  4. Was it tough to het your boat out?
  5. Caught a small fish on a jb Monday. All the rain keeping the water a bit dirty for the jb, but when it clears up it's gonna be on!!
  6. Be prepaired to donate some tackle to the piles when you find them. And just remember a day at Burke is not complete without snagging a giant pile of fishing line!!! The piles are located close to a drop or deeper water. Aaron pm me and I will try to get you some info on how to line up some of the piles. Good luck guys, I want a good result and detailed report.
  7. If the water is clear enough, try a suspending jerkbait. Pointer 78, try to vary your retrieve.
  8. sweet, then we can start calling you " DANsal Adams"
  9. Aaron, don't get discouraged when looking for the piles. Keep in mind that they are very close to drop-offs. do you have any markers? the way I find and fish the piles is to get in the general area, cast around until i get into a real meaty area or get bit, chuck out a bouy and continue to stay on or near the bouy and refine my casts and maybe find some other bits of cover.
  10. Yes, a group photo suitable for Christmas cards would have been nice!!! Common Dan, as group historian you should have been all over that!!
  11. I have to believe that a fish is a fish is a fish, but I don't think anything we caught yesterday was really picture worthy.
  12. you know I'm just pokin' fun. believe me, I would have been out of the Occoquan in a heartbeat if i had a bigger boat!!!
  13. shimmy, for not being familar with the location, you did very well sticking to your guns and staying "big". I'm just happy we caught what we did. considering the conditions, it was a fair result for the Occoquan river. Aaron Matt and Dan cheated and went to Mattowoman!!!! jk
  14. Chris, that place is tough to wrangle at times and we just happened to pick a toughy!! I'm telling you guys to try Burke. It only gets better for the next few weeks. The Occoquan will turn out some good fish now and again, but it sure can be a stinker as well. I bet we could get into some stripers tho
  15. That was a tough day. It was very nice to meet all of you and have a laugh at our great acomplishments of absolutly whacking the dog snot out of those beautyful 12 inch whoppers!! Kinda glad we did'nt have the camera ready. :
  16. that is very funny...... "we're gonna win.....uh.....where is it........uh........right.....ummmmmm.........errrrr......left..........."
  17. thanks for the compliment Aaron. Matt is quite the stick as well. just the product of too much time and mispent, often, money I don't have!!!
  18. you guys as well and we need pictures from you two as well
  19. Not really a tournament ( no monies involved ) Not sure that we need any permits if all we are fishing for are bragging rights. I was involved with the organization of the tournaments at Fountainhead, and the only reason we needed the insurance and ok from the park authority is that it was an organized event on park property. this is more like, show up if you can, catch a big one , let's see what you got!! your concern is appreciated, I think we will be ok. sure you guys don't wanna get in on this or are you dead set to fish up north??
  20. it's all good. jonny lifeguard can look and listen all he wants! I'm not the first to do it and I'm sure I won't be the last. been running modified 9.9 for 5 years and never had an issue. if you go about your business in a respectful manner, you will never have an issue. the g+f guys on the res are looking for no liscense or people being stupid, I got mine and my mama didn't raise me to be stupid.
  21. By jon boat res standards.....yes........yes I do!!!
  22. Nothing on that motor says it's anything other than a 9.9. It's 100% legit
  23. Even slightly more modified!! I like to think big!!
  24. No worries about paddling shimmy. I have the typical res setup. 9.9(slightly modified), OMC 12/24 56lb thrust TM, livewell, hummingbird matrix.. We will be plentygood. A large satchel of fish is a given!
  25. My mistake, Saturday
