  1. Chad 23 Split time between South shore MA and Seacoast NH, so I get licenses for both each year. Fish out of a john on small waters. Got into trophy hunting in the last couple years which entailed learning how to toss swimbaits and fish a jig the right way. Searching for that big bite. Will do tourneys from time to time but big bass for my own satisfaction is what I'm hunting. I fish long days because I usually have a long drive so I need to make those trips worth it. I'll fish with anyone.
  2. Like i said, in this weather the hits wont be many. Try cranking the slammer down, or getting one the dives a little bit easier. If you want a slammer fish, just take you SB rods and only slammers. Build up confidence and use them enough to know how each bait acts.
  3. I use 5 colors of spinner baits that work pretty much universally: red white white/blue chart chart/green/orange
  4. pretty much any big fish lake in RI will hit a slammer still. Hits will be few and far between though. Lots of big fish caught on slammers in the last few weeks
  5. ive tried a ton of jigs custom and not, but when i switched to the bico my trailer life went way up. the jig has no trailer keeper, but the square bend hook keeps the slippage down...
  6. craw imitations, 10" worms, Big lizards, zoom brushhogs
  7. slammers are actually light for a swimbait... I used to use an inshore rod when i first got started. Almost any swimbait rod can handle a slammer. Id look for a min 3oz rating. 7'6 or better
  8. I have one, Good prespawn and spawn bait as stated but other than dragging the bottom this bait has no real action. If used as a bed bait or fished EXTREMELY slow then its not bad
  9. jerkbaits, manns 1-, grubs
  10. If you can find them locally do that becuase its better to see what you are buying with these baits. Fatter ones wake better. Check with mike for a list of his dealers. each bait is VERY different.
  11. what about lexan?
  12. Ghoti, just a quality threat+post! gonna steal your format So, what worked for me this year: Jigs, Jigs and more Jigs. Best for the year were Booyah early and when the BICO finally hit the shelves it was just on. I threw both jigs in watermelon/red or PBJ. I used heavier for wood/rocks and lighter for pads like you would work a frog. Hookup Ratio was great/much better than using a frog. + this is my second year really throwing jigs and I caught about 100 more fish on them. Gamber Otters and Yum Crawpapy. My go to jig trailers. Just great action and production. Using a Heavy Spinning combo w/ braid for jig fishing. Flipping and Pitching + casting gear is great but skipping is where it's at. I boated fish I never would have gotten to pitching and skipping w/ casting gear is a nono for me so wrenching fish with H spinning + 50lb braid was just plain fun. Reaction Innovations Skinny dipper - Weightless 5/0 gammie straightshank offset light wire. Just my go to cold water bait. also great for smallies + replacing the fluke. casts a mile. Double Buzzbaits - 6 out of my 8 best fish ... enough said Reuniting with my spinnerbait. got some great fish in a milder season Zoom brushhog - learning how to punch mats for pigs has been great. still learning though. Swimbaits, in particular the MS slammer and 316 baits. these baits are just the balls for heartstopper hits. SO much fun Dropshot- still learning but it works gama lines and powerpro braids... hands down Bang in a can... best scent out there Now what sucked - Single blade buzzers - Ran the double buzz after throwing the single and boated fish. Sold off my singles. Spinning gear for anything but pure finesse + jigs Paddle tubes - biggest joke of a gimmick, reminded me of banjo minnow... sold them too Soft swimbaits IE megabait charlie, La sliders, reaction strike ... just worthless IMO... Sold Lipless cranks - how do people catch on these? King shad - waste of 20... caught more crappie and perch Jerkbaits... just didnt produce for me? Worms/lizards/ senko... except for few trips nothing doing. > > Monthly moments: Feb- Fishing open water during a blizzard and actually catching fish on jerkbaits... ironically my only fish on jerks that year March- Ice breaking in waders and catching fish dragging grubs April - caught 15 fish from shore in 1 hour with the skinny dipper including 5 in 5 casts and two in my first two casts with my new baits May - First few 316 baits and fish on them! Getting threats of being shot at for fishing a private pond that i didnt think/know was private after catching 30 fish in 2 hours on swimbaits +jig June - catching a 25lb bag in the rain on fathers day on buzzers icluding my first 3 being 5-7, 5-5, and 4-0 in less than 1/2 hour July - camping trip with my girl and having her catch her first few bass on her own and having her let me fish full days without complaining boated 65 fish in 2.5 trips August - having a bunch of people come thru to take me out fishing when my motor died - thanks guys Sept + Oct - just getting out, too much going on with trying to finish school Good year but slower than last. Gonna keep fishing til ice and will start when ice melts again
  13. I have been doing well with watermelon/red and pbj... with jigs color is more a confidence thing... the real deal with any jig is your casting accuracy and concentration (being able to detect bites)
  14. not a problem, I have licenses for both states and know a few good spots for big fish. Where do you go to school, I'm finishing my final semester at UNH (5th year sucks). 23 and live on the lamprey river
  15. was that the dicks in portsmouth?
  16. smallwaterbassclub.com cartopper club on the northshore. fished a few tourney's with them, good guys and good fun. hope to do a few more of them next year. If you ever want to head out I'm just over the boarder
  17. they have do it yourself kits for like $7 at that tackle shop right across from massabesic... Ive done it with several rods last year and they held up all summer and are still going..
  18. try dropshotting an 8in osprey ... you can dropshot anything... be creative
  19. i think the average size goes up... i use them over the regular consistently
  20. I didn't say I wasn't a CTD and no I can't see it all that well.. TD of the year?
  21. everyone knows about it. I'm in if the date is right, how bout the 25th... $20 a boat Team T with a 2 fish limit (must have 1 per angler).
