  1. I'm a big fan of the BTS theory... Buy it, try it, if it don't work then sell it. That way you find your confidence baits and only keep what you need Problem with that, is now 90% of my hard baits are $17 or more ;D :-[

Deps Buzzjet, any 316, ms slammer
  3. nice fish nick! the confidence is building
  4. I guess it depends on your definition of swimbait as well as the gear you're using to throw it. If you have a rod that can handle 3+oz then you are probably looking for a bigger bait, which more often than not will cost you more money. If you are going to be throwing these on say a flippin stick, you could get a mattlures soft bait for around $20 give or take, a 6" hudd, or an MS mini for close to $20. If you are going lower than that, you are looking at paddletubes like money minnows and the like for short money, or any of the 4" hardbaits like spro, tru tungsten and all that for $20. Hope this helps. If you are going for a bigger bait I have some up in the classifieds!
  5. Do you swim it weightless? I work it like a jerkbait
  6. love this bait early season and for smallies. I rig it weightless with a 4/0 offset hook. blue back
  7. Val from gambler lures sent me some to try before these baits hit stores last year. I have to say that the 4" baits are a deadly finesse bait. They sit great on standup shaky heads and the tail just quivers. I loved them for smallies and clearwater situations.
  8. they usually stock up just before the classic, so thats feb right? they were loaded up last feb with new gear for the "TD super sale" ... I mean "Classic Sale" Hey Tin, Paul told me you might change your mind about slammers

The web guy for Swimbaitsinc went on vacation to El Salto and forgot to activate the site. It is done, just not activated. It will be online sometime next week. Anyone who wants to see some of his work/baits just PM me and I will point you in the right direction
  10. all the new 4" baits from spro, TT, and castaic can be thrown on the gear you have
  11. I believe uconn and ohio have teams, beyond that i dont know
  12. I feel like there are better ways to spend the cash... honestly the line gets caught behind the head of the bait consistently and it has a pretty mechanical action. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION it is a waste of money. For the same money buy a Sebile.
  13. i throw my 6 + 7" baits on the extreme 7'10 H 1-3oz ... handles them fine, although there are better rods out there for this. I don't know how long the extreme reel will hold up chucking those baits though as it is not really suited to throw baits over an oz IMO. if you are set on BPS what about the NITRO combo?
  14. hey TD don't you mean another one sees the light? ;D My 5 jig fish against your 5 slammer fish. O wait, you guys fish all day for 1, 6 pound (if you're LUCKY) bite. And that is exactly what it boils down to, luck around here, hell if I throw a jitterbug on a sunny 55* day, eventually something will hit it too. : Good thing I like Jigs too then ;D I'm looking for big fish regardless, I'm just trying to decrease the chances of catching shorts all day. Swimbaits do that for me, and they are fun to fish. But you also can't beat a day with the jig unless you catch a pig on a big bait 8-)
  15. paul i really like the zoom speed craws, I use them on round head finesse jigs and they really produce in the springtime. They really pulse on the lift, and I get the most strikes on the second fall. They are also good weightless, shakeyhead, or t-rigged. Of course you know about otters, and a bait that compares to that flappy action is the yum craw papi. PS. Tin, I like the name change
  16. Russ, do you need all new stuff?
  17. hey TD don't you mean another one sees the light? ;D
  18. first of all you will need a heavier rod at least a 3oz rating to chuck the bait. I would throw that bait any time you would throw a topwater. Big fish bait all the way and also gets the numbers. Put time in and you will figure out what works best for you.
  19. the gill? or the trout? I love the gills, just has a sweet action to it. My only gripe so far is the casting distance, they catch a ton of resistance on the cast and don't fly like other big baits.
  20. I can almost guarantee you would break the rod/tip... the line may hold but for how long? The gill without the balls added is 2oz, so I would at least get a rod rated to 3oz. Bait works well in the water and does some of the easiest 180's in the water. I've thrown it on a 7'10 H BPS extreme rod when I didnt bring my swimbait rod and it was fine, but I wouldn't go less than a 3oz rating for that bait.

I honestly don't really see a huge difference in bites between the 7" and 9" so I would just get one of each. I've caught bass that are the same size as the baits, sometimes a lot of small fish will kill bigger baits if the action is right. I would say that 2-4lb fish are the average MS bass on both sizes. The 2X I find better for twitching/ more noise. The extra joint gives that clacking sound that calls up fish. The Original has better action IMO, but I think the amount of joints is personal preference. Try both and see which one you like better. The best part is that if you don't like a MS you can resell it and it will get bought in a heartbeat. All colors of MS work, no doubt. Again, personal preference. Some better night colors IMO Black beauty, Dark trout, Purple Nitro, Strong Red. Day: Perch, light trout, Bluegill
  22. My .02 on Reaction Strike: First and foremost I feel that they need they're own ideas. Wood baits: while their wood baits will catch fish, the construction is poor. Paint flakes, tails break etc. I feel that if you spend the money you might as well clear coat it yourself or have it custom painted. You will be happier with your bait. Soft plastic baits: Don't see much from these. Action is very subtle to nonexistent at best. Baits like the harasser and Poseidon barely swim. Paddle tubes: Their fatheads and like baits are actually not bad at all. But how can you fail at copying a basstrix? Honestly, I gave up trying to find a reactionstrike bait that I couldn't live without.
