Caught a big one, need a reproduction.
Hey Randy, Congrats on the catch! That's a nice one where every your from! You can probably check some of your local taxidermists most can do either skin mounts or the replicas. You can also check out Bass Pro Shops' Wildlife Creations. From what I've seen on line, they do real nice work! http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.CFPage?appID=39&template=fiber-ex.cfm&option=2&imageid=largemouth_large.jpg Hope this helps!

The sissy tube
Hey Chris, Thanks for giving me a little more confidence in one of my confidence baits!

Water Temp
Minn Kota makes a portable temp gauge. Works really well and works off one AA battery! I picked one up at Wally World. Hope this helps!

Barometric pressure
My best days are on a stable barometer for several days. But I can still catch when the barometer goes either way as long as it isn't an extreme! On a gradual rise, I've found my most productive water is deeper and tighter to the cover, and of course, when its gradually falling they seem to shallower. Hope this helps!

How many of you actually fillet these things...
I practice catch and release, just wish I could get my Dad to! So I have had bass in the past. It's ok, but I would mush rather have crappie, walleye or musky! Actually the rating would be walleye first, musky a VERY close second, followed by crappie.

Favorite fishing partner
Until my daughter gets a little older, I'll have to go with my Dad when I go back to PA or my friend Mat when fishing here in MD. While Mat and I have a similar style fishing, we each have different strong points and can really learn something from each other when we're out.

Biggest of the year?
5lbs 9oz caught on a Red Shad Zoom Brush Hog on a small lake in MD. Still considering making a trip down pfunk's way before the year is up though so there is room for improvement there!

Get Ice out of Guides
RoadWarrior, drive south??? Why? Oh, I guess it doesn't hurt to have two different warm water discharges close by. ;D They are my normal wintering spots. In those areas, I'll dip the rod in the water but I will use WD40 as well and as LBH stated, you do need to reapply it every so often.

Fishing videos on DVD
I just started picking up a couple of BPS DVD series. I have KVD's Proven spinnerbait techniques video and his Strategies for changing conditions. Both are Must Haves, IMO.

Bassmaster, Are You Kidding Me?
Thanks for the clarification RW! I never really followed current flow in the past but since I start following it on the upper Potomac, your numbers seemed really high to me. But then I was really comparing apples and oranges since the areas I fish are alot smaller. Thanks again!

Whats your craziest catch?
Sorry all but I had to bring this one back up! LOL! I fished a small community pond this evening. I caught 5 small bass and this little monster. I was fishing a 5" Kinami Flash when I felt a tick so I set the hook and all I felt was a little grass. So I reeled the bait in and this is what I found. I think I laughed for at least 5 minutes after I CPR'd this bad boy! LOL!

Bassmaster, Are You Kidding Me?
Hey RW, What's the normal flow for the Tennessee? The part of the Potomac I fish, the current flow is 753cfs. It's real low and there are very few places I can put my boat on (don't have a jet).

Bassmaster, Are You Kidding Me?
I grew up about 40 miles north of Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately, I've only fished the Susquehanna once. Caught two small smallies. Now the Juniata River which dumps in to the Susquehanna, I've fished countless times. The area I fish has a bunch of smaller smalllies but there are decent ones in the 3-5 pound range.

Check your state DNR site. Here in MD, they provide this info on their site! Hope this helps!

best flippin worm
Hey Avid, I read a Bassmaster magazine several years ago and read about a technique. They were drop shotting a tube with a 1/2 to 1 oz sinker. They kept the bait within 6" of the bait. The weight would punch through the grass/slop and go down to where the big ones are (from what the article said). Haven't come across the situation to try it yet but to me, it sounds like it would produce! Hope this helps!

Jig, Worm or Tube
Will do RoadWarrior! How to you rig them? What type of situations do you look for when you throw them? Thanks!
-
best flippin worm
My first choice would be a Mizmo Big Boy or Bass Pro Shop's Magnum Flippin tube! Second choice, a Zoom Brush Hog or Strike King Wild Thang!

How much do you fish?
I've been trying to get out 3-5 times a week. With the evenings getting darker sooner, I do more fishing over my lunch time at work than anything. I do try and sneak out at least for a couple of hours on the weekend!

What do you pull your boats with?
I'm pulling my 16' '97 Dakota jon boat with my 2000 Dakota 4x4! I had to get a worthy truck to pull my boat! ;D
-
Let's see your boats!!!
I'm getting ready to do some modifications to my boat in two weeks! I'll do a before and after pick then! I'll give a little low down on it now though. Its a 16' '97 Dakota jon boat that I bought "plain jane". I put decks on it, carpeted it, installed a livewell in it, the whole nine yards. The carpet is in dire need of replacing (part of the mod's) and I'm at a point now that I want to redesign the front deck (another mod). Its a GREAT little river/small lake boat! Don't think I'll ever part ways with it! I'' just need to get a glass one in a few years! ;D

Eagle fish finders
I have recently bought a 480. I've used Eagle's on my boat since I purchased it 7 years ago! Although I haven't had a chance to install it on my boat yet, I've tinkered with one at a few fishing expos in my area and really like the set up and the details the 480 shows! Now I must add that I'm upgrading from the Ultra Classic Plus (160 x 160) that I originally bought when I got my boat. I will say that when I put the 480 on next weekend, I feel that I'll be more than satisfied with it! Hope this helps!

Jig, Worm or Tube
First plastic I go to for fishing shallow cover is a tube. I have the most confidence in them over any other plastic although creature baits come in a close second. I've been working on getting worms into my line up but I'm still building up my confidence in them but I find them coming into play more in deeper water. Jig, unfortunately, I have the least amount of confidence in. The think next season, I'll tie them on more often to build up my confidence in them!
