Teardownbeat a factory rod and rebuild it !!!

i fish them off deep drops and depths of 20-35 feet , so even after a 60 yard cast , in deep water your still not too horizontal with the bait , causing the bait not to dig . i fish a variety of ROF soft trout baits , but have the best fish hit when fishing deep and super slow . if i were to fish 5-8 ft. of water i'd throw the Savage Gear Shallow runner3D trout in trout and hitch patterns , those baits work !!

i have the Tournament Lite that has a graphite frame and it has no flex , and is an absolute joy to fish . research the reel you are interested in and read reviews , don't let frame material deter you ... oh by the way , i would pick a Lew's reel any day over a shimano , customer service dictates that ...........

i don't fish them in the water column , i fish them on the bottom , VERRRRY SLOOOOWLY !!! , the extra weight keeps them down where i want the bait on a long cast without it nosing up on me .

don't get me wrong , i'm not disagreeing with his methology , i just need to ''see'' it !! cause i doubt it , doesn't make it wrong ....

monster swimbait rods will usually have a rating of 50-80 lb. line rating

i'd take a 8'' Hudd ROF 16 in rainbow trout or a Canyon Plastics 4.5'' frog in green pumkin swirl ...

a bass doesn;t need slack in the line to throw a bait . if they are allowed to shake their head even with pressure from a tight line , by shaking their head they cause more damage to the hook hole , enlongating it , making it a LOT easier to throw the bait ..

are you talking about plain trim bands ( 3-4 wraps of a different color thread in accenting your main wrap ) or are you talking about weaves ???

those are suggestions for the lure rating of the rod , a 20-40 lb. line rating suggests a lure rating of 1-5 oz. , so 12 lb. line would be no bueno .. but then again , if your casting lures with that rod and you feel it fishes fine , then by all means , fish on !!! what lures are you throwing with that rod ???

uni to uni works great for me when i use them , i use a bigger diameter flouro leader to increase the breaking strength of that line , it's usually not the connection knot for me but the strength of the leader . the only times i use a leader is on my spinning rod , 10 lb. braid to 12 lb. Shooter Metan Green or 16 lb. Sniper . those complicated knots are not my thing , good luck though , nice to see some one take the time to compile data for others

letting a big fish shake it's head is how they tear the hook out from there mouth which leads to a lot of thrown baits , by reeling it in quickly the bass can't shake their head at all ..

that's not what he was reffering to , he wanted to know he could fix the insert of the guide instead of having to remove the broken guide and have to replace it with the one Okuma sent him . i totally agree that one can wrap a guide on their own ..

what , you only want one custom rod ???? get with it dude , get some more blanks , guides , reel seats , cork or eva , and get to building ,you're taking too much time on the computer and not enough time on that wrapper !!! :eyebrows: a suggestion -- map out all you want to do on your next build , make a blueprint of it and as to the steps you're going to take ....

you are not going to be able to repair the guide , have a rod builder remove the broken guide , replace with a new one andthey'll re-wrap it , should cost you around $ 20 ...

actually it sounds like you need to get a couple more blanks and components !!!!!

i second that that St.Croix rod will handle that bait no problem , i throw mine on a Rainshadow XMB 944.5 which is rated up to 1 1/8 oz. and imagine that the mojo is stouter than my rod !!

Fishing swimbaits, I never want a moderate action. As far as treble hooks, they are same as any other hooks, reel them as quick as possible , get them to the surface and surf the fish in . With a moderate action, people want to play the fish, wrong ! That's how you lose fish ....

whatever !!! ha , i'm super jealous !!! most all the lakes/reservoirs were i live are county maintained so they go around and skim off all the topwater grass and mats , yeah , it sucks !!! hope you get some bigguns out of there !!!!!
