  1. yes the line tie does move , it is like a double ended eyelet , one end connects to the hook , the other one is the line tie . to swap out the hooks , you have to sometimes cut a split in the belly , use needle nose pliers and seperate the "line tie" that connects the hook , change out the hook , then crimp the "line tie" back again , seal the belly with silicone adhesive . make sure you let the silicone dry at least over night and leave it out in the open so to air out(cause of the slight fumes) . a suggestion if you like , try the Owner frog hooks , the best made frog hooks in my opinion . i used to change out the gamakatsu stock hooks cause they seem to dull easy and bend out from the body after being stuck on tules , Owners don't
  2. you wanna talk about a braid that does not need to be broken in and has no teflon or waxy coating , you have to talk about Triple Fishes Bully Braid , to bad they don't make it any more (tho can be had on the internet )
  3. that's what happens when people abuse the warranty programs these companies offer :
  4. Please tell me that's not a "crazy" knot. yes , it was named after "crazy" Alberto Knie ...
  5. Thats good to hear as my local rod guy is putting the finishing touches on a 7'6" heavy fast micro guide spiral wrap rod Should have it early next week!! that will be a sweet rod , you are gonna never go back to conventional guides !!! give the forum a review on it after you fish it awhile , people would like to hear about it
  6. cause you are gonna be using it for both bass and walleye , you might look into the 2500 and the 4000 size reels . a good reel that is inexpensive is the shimano sedona , i have the 4000 size , i use it for surf fishing and pier fishing (salt water) . a really good reel that would work for both species well .
  7. i imagine that people should , stained cork looks hideous !! that's why i use eva split grip handles !!! i say that the positive effects of the sealer out weigh the things you don't like about it .....
  8. try some izorline premium spectra braid , does not "bleed" like others . power pro is good also , but don't try the red colored braid , it bleeds like it was actually bleeding ;D
  9. micro guides are an excellent component to a rod . you will see more companies start to use them . ALOT of custom builders are using them , actually alot of them are using them for almost all of their builds . it even gets better when you incorporate them with a spiral wrap
  10. for using power bait dough , i use a size 5 split shot about 3-5 ft. up from a size 12-14 treble hook . you want the split shot to be just big enough to get to the bottom . i use this rigging with no leaders , no swivels , just attach the split shot on the main line ( 4-6 lb. p-line CXX) and as far as how much power bait to use , i alot on the hook , maybe 3/4" dia. ball of the dough
  11. Izorline XXX is the closest to Gamma co-poly in my opinion
  12. here is their website http://www.livetargetlures.com/
  13. the park rangers don't trip on it , i always ask them if some people have caught limits of trout and have they cleaned them in the clean out room there at the lake ....
  14. they have a 5 year limited warranty , i doubt it is over the counter ...
  15. like i said on the top of page 2 of this topic , i would almost bet money that it was stored next to a leaky car battery , i hope Jfrancho will check into it and report back
  16. i use a Browning jumbo worm binder , i feel it is the best made worm binder on the market , it is built to last , made of good materials , and heavy duty zippers . i have mine stuffed !!!! http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_103999_999043014_650000000_999043012_100-22-2
  17. i was put off by this because , as many remember , Bantam 1 toted this as power pro coming out with a 16 strand braid but in fact it was this , a hollow braid used for knotless leaders . well i for one wouldn't like to have to do this in a boat or even from the shore while on a day of fishing , this is more of a salt water application that is trying to be touted as good for freshwater applications , seems like power pro is pushing it , yeah literally :
  18. when i use jigs i also like to use a trailer with a bigger profile in colder water . i try to keep the presentation slow and do smaller "hops" off the bottom then i normally would when the water is warmer and the fish are more active . as for the "action" of your trailer , i like the craw to have big "claws" that stand up as long as possible (defensive posture), especially for the slow presentations
  19. be a little more specific !!! what size are you looking at ( 500,750,1000,2500,etc...) ?, what are you gonna do with it ?, what size and type of line are you gonna use ? all these things need be answered less somebody recommend a 7000 size saltwater spinning reel or a 500 size micro reel or ANYTHING IN BETWEEN !!!!
  20. this is the first tackle box i used , still have it in the garage (use it for pier fishing tackle) . http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_48270_999043013_650000000_999043012_100-22-1
  21. don't know the specs on that reel , but here is the schematics - http://www.reeldr.com/SCHEMATICS/ZEBCO%20SCHEMATICS/1994/ZEBCO%20QUANTUM%20QL550%201994.pdf
  22. i bet the person had it in the garage leaning up against a leaky car battery , no worm or bait of any kind would do that , it is a shame people try to make a manufacturer swallow the cost for that , no wonder they get finicky with warranty service : , that's MY opinion ........
  23. The only thing you're "supposed" to do with any bait is fish it in the water. I'm sorry, let me rephrase myself, that is the preferred method. i was gonna say , these baits are very versatile and can be fished thru the entire water column . i have had more "production" with the drop shot with the 5.5" and with using the 8" ones, they excell at bottom hopping as Ghotti said . it is up to you to find the best way (the fishes way they want em' !!) to fish them , i guess what i'm saying is that this is a bait that definitly has a place in your tackle box !!! btw, colors that , for me , work good are the 'threadfin shad" and "perch" .
  24. that is last years JME reel , i say you did alright . that reel usaully goes for $219.00 so even if you paid full price for the reel , you got the rod $20.00
