  1. Here is one of the better floaters. Still need to brush it up with floatant http://www.discountflies.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=B-CRDD&Category_Code=9&Product_Count=3 or some others in my box
  2. I wish I could welcome the Outdoor channel to my Cox line up in San Diego. Several email request to dump that lame other bicycling/ cage fighting channel and replace it have fallen on blind eyes.....
  3. I love fly fishing for bass. My favorite fly is a dragonfly imitation, mostly because of the savage strikes that occur. On more than one occasion a bass has actually nailed the dragonfly imitation before it even hits the water (usually when the tippet is just turning over). These strikes seem even more intense then frog blast on conventional gear. Admittedly most my flyfish under five pounds, but the fight seems so much more intense on the 1:1 ratio reel.
  4. I think it depends on which strain of LMB you have in your area. The Florida strain does not seem to be as tolerant of colder waters and do really slow down in the 50's. The Northern strain seems like they can go much lower.
  5. One of three 4-5 LB carp I caught in an hour on the same day...These small carp fight well for their size. The carp had a great spawn in this lake recently and there are many around this size GRRRR @#@##& :exclamation :exclamation !!!!!!!!!!
  6. Yes, main forage at Otay appears to be threadfin shad, and as suggested I have seen them spit up bluegill and crappies. I have even seen them pop ducklings and snakes there.
  7. The truth of the matter is big bass are on the decline in many CA lakes. There were plenty of big bass here prior to stocking trout, and the bass will adapt. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/outdoors/20081123-9999-1s23outdoors.html
  8. "There it is"...."D'oh"..... >
  9. All is not lost yet. Check this out : http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/outdoors/20081125-9999-1s25outdoors.html
  10. When the fish are keying on smaller shad I have had great success with the Cultiva Minnow RM 65. Just be sure to swap out the hooks . I like the Owner Tournament Treble size 8. Golden shiner a great color.
  11. The RC 1.5's are only supposed to get to a max of four feet, but for some reason they seem to me to get a little deeper. I love this crank (available only at BPS)
  12. Just like vintage cartoons, I reeled up a boot once. I couldn't stop laughing for about fifteen minutes ;D
  13. I really like how the spro frog can skip under cover, but Bobby's Perfect Frog really seems to get more hookups with me.
  14. Thanks for all the suggestions. Even though the pain is based in the wrist, most these suggestions should help. Decided to try the 50mg reel and a short kistler rod to see if it helps. Quite often we tend to overuse other muscles when trying to get out of pain from one area. Arm bands should help with upper forearms.
  15. Well the Doc has diagnosed me with de Quervain's tenosynovitis, been struggling with it all year. I am an avid angler who just can't stay away from the water, so am looking for help from fellow anglers. What tackle modifications can I make to reduce symptoms Lighter rods ? Lighter reels ? High speed reels? Shorter rods ? Rod grips? Lure suggestions ? Deep cranking hurts the worst. Thanks in advance..
  16. MMMMM.. Swimbait..... Now only if the market will bounce back...
  17. I like the Spook for less heavily fished waters and the Sammy for pressured or really clear lakes. Like the other poster the Gunfish has been killer for me, especially in wind.
