  1. I think your opinion is correct. I was in Coral Springs about 2 weeks and had a snakehead strike, didn't land it.
  2. Back in the day, Kraft mac and cheese was a staple, maybe .39 a box then.
  3. Geo is right, the canals can hold some really nice bass. In these canal ya gotta keep moving and cover water, sometimes there is just a limit of how far you can walk, that's the only real advantage to being in a boat.
  4. No chance of that ever happening.
  5. I'd move to California today if my wife were agreeable..........she isn't. Southern Ca for me, close to Baja. Delray is swelling with population, lots of building going on. At dinner yesterday we talked about renting our home for 3 months and going elsewhere for the winter next season.
  6. Watching a TV show or reading internet posts do not always depict what's happening in real life. I have seen very few posts where people do not care to put their best foot forward. Doesn't everyone kiss them, caress them, take the utmost care..........me I just chuck them back in, like I see most people doing. Can't remember a bass going belly up where they needed to be revived. The fish seem happy to be back in the water and I'm happy making my next cast.
  7. I have a 35 supreme on a 7' 8/17 med rod, 30 on a 6'6 ml, I like the feel of both very much, these are main 2 bass rods. My smallest shimano are 2 4000 stradic fi, to their credit I've never had a wind knot in many years of use.
  8. I haven't had white bread in over 50 years, my sugar level goes thru the ceiling from anything made with white flour. Here's one for ya, since I don't eat white flour products....... rye bread, Kraft Philadelphia cream cheese, nova, beefstake tomato and a vadalia onion.............
  9. The espousement of ones morality and values, service to country and family lineage have nothing to do with the issue. A governing body with high degree of integrity, that places stringent standards on what is declared to be records, has sanctioned this Japanese bass as the reigning world record. On the human side I can understand the feeling of diluting the accomplishment by a non American on foreign soil to surpass an American record. I do not share that feeling. Whether it's a fish or an Olympic record, I give credit to the person that has labored to attain that level of accomplishment.
  10. That's quite true about the repair aspect, a bonus IMO is having Pure Fishing standing behind the product. On the retrieve speed issue, the symetre 1000 and 2500 offer 29 & 35 IPT, the 30 and 35 supremes are 30 & 32.7 IPT. I don't think 2.3" IPT is much, especially if you work lures. The supremes have bit more line capacity, not that important in bass fishing. Both reels will perform just fine, I'd be picking the one that feels best on the rod.
  11. Smooth, Jiff prefered Jewish rye, untoasted both with or without caraway seeds strawberry preserves, sugar free these days 2% milk, but miss whole milk in a glass bottle I do eat grocery store bread but I like it much better from a bakery
  12. My father said the same thing about my generation, and my generation said the same about yours.
  13. If a person catches the largest fish of any species in accordance with the IGFA, it's world's record, I don't see anything simpler than that. There was no cheating done to catch the fish.
  14. You beat me to this, my wife and I are play goers, we love theater. Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite, may have seen the play 15 times.
  15. I don't think a floor model should be different than any other reel, it comes out of a box too. From my observation most people turn the crank and check the drag on floor models, I don't see any excessive wear and tear to them, maybe less than actually fishing with them. I'd have no qualms buying a floor model if it felt good and they gave me a discount, still has warranty.
  16. Sure Jimmy Stewart, and so many others. I really enjoy the Capra movies, Gary Cooper is real high on my list whatever role he is played. In fairness some of the modern days stars are wonderful too, Malkovich what an actor this guy is.
  17. We have not heard one side of the story, we have heard a third party make reference to a situation which may or may not be the exact story. Not knowing the players involved or seeing what is happening first hand, I wouldn't give advice. Some people should not have been married in the first place and other relationships can change over time. Having but one life, I see nothing wrong with trying to improve a situation, if that means divorce so be it.
  18. I use spinning but I do nothing in case the reel needs to be returned.
  19. Hardball, Modern Marvels. TCM channel........love old movies, anything Gable or Bogart especially
  20. This is only my feeling, the right reel for the right rod for the right fish. I would not use even a Cabo 30 (I do have one that I don't use anymore) for light inshore fishing or freshwater, I do want a lighter, smoother retrieving reel for those situations. For the times when I'm fishing light I have a number of other reels that I prefer. I have a few saltwater reels that are seeing the test of time now and will be replaced
  21. Referencing another thread " are you fisherman", my answer is I must not be. I have no more than 15 or so lures scattered on table with no organization, few packs of plastics, 2 or 3 spinning outfits I use. I do fish 7 days a week, not that keep track of how many caught but I'm sure in a years time the totals add up, don't get skunked too often and I hardly ever use a plastic worm. Being in Florida I'm sure I've caught some decent sized ones as well. I don't horde, I lose something I just go replace what I've lost.
  22. Like many my dad started me off and taught me so much, his been gone 22 years but every time I catch a big one I hear his words in my mind. My old friend Wight Cooke taught me how to fly fish for trout in Northern Michigan. I know a guy casually who suggested a drop fly rig for tarpon and snook about 10 years ago, I downsize that set up for bass sometimes, very similar to a double fluke rig. My best buddy George down here taught me cuda fishing and how to make the lures too.
  23. Bullet weights, but don't overlook keel weighted hooks.
  24. I like to use something different everyday. I don't necessarily take what I think will be the best bait of the day, I may read something on BR and decide to use that. If people are taking about spoons I'll say to myself " haven't used that in a while, let's give it shot". Could be senkos, or jigs, top water or whatever and I stick with it. I could use a senko everyday and catch fish, gotta have variety to keep it interesting.
