Buying Extra New Rods And Reels????
Rods no, reels yes. My most used and favorite spinning reels are abu sorons and they are discontinued, I see one one I'm buying it.

Lure Ratings On A Rod
I don't pay too much attention to rod parameters, I constantly overload and so does everyone else here, I have rods 10 years old that are like new. I even go low sometimes depending where I'm fishing. I do have rods that will not load up well with too little weight even though they are rated the same as some of my other rods, those rods are just used for something else. I do think spinning allows me greater latitude, I throw anywhere from 1/4 oz to a little more than an ounce on some of my medium rods, I'm only interested in getting my lure into the zone.

Lions
As good as have ever seen scoring for the win in the last 1 minute, Megatron 329 yds, Stafford 488 yds, wow.

Snakehead Infestation In S. Fl.! Kill?
I did run into a guy telling me he has caught snakeheads in Boynton, I haven't seen any myself, but I really have not done freshwater fishing in ages.

Difference Between Baitcaster And Spinning Reel???
Any reel does more than hold line, it applies drag that slow and tires a fish. Loosen the drag too much will reduce your chances of landing a fish the caliber of a tarpon, too tight isn't good either. Reel of choice doesn't matter, but I do believe spinning users play the fish more, if for no other reason lighter line is being used.

Difference Between Baitcaster And Spinning Reel???
Must be! At least on the s/e coast of Florida spinners overwhelming dominate bait casters for the act of cast and retrieve with artificial lures. By definition, other than my own, I guess catching a 5# bass with 65# braid, locked down drag, then dragging them in 30 seconds or less is quite prestigious. Catching 40# tarpon or 20 # snook, or 30# permit, and these aren't the bigger ones, using a mh rod similar to a bass rod is not very prestigious. That is until you have actually caught one, then I'd like to read a fair appraisal of that contest, providing it was landed. The notion that a b/c rod has more power than a spinning rod is anything but true. There is a spinning rod made to compliment any bass conventional rod.

Florida Bass Club October (Bragging Rights Thread)
Matter of fact I did catch a tarpon this morning in the inlet, guessing upwards of 40# on a DOA jerk shad on a jig head, mh spinning rod. My friend threw his cast net maybe 7 or 8 times, couldn't get it into the net. Finally slipped the hook which is really the way it should be, yeh they do put up a bit of a tussle. With the exception of tossing a lure now and then in my ponds and canal I have done next to no bass fishing, considering giving it up altogether.

Columbia Vs. North Face
Columbia fits me better. I usually wear shorts, t shirt and sandals, both Penn long sleeve and Gotcha short sleeve t shirts are the same, good fit and good quality. In the cooler months I wear fishing pants and a long sleeve t, gets below 60 and I may not fish. I like keeping the clothes to a minimum.

What Is Your Favorite Rod/ Rod Compay?
10 years of 12 month a year fishing and most of the time it's 7 days a week my rods get a pretty good workout. I mainly use Star and Hurricane Redbone (both very popular down here), never had one break and never needed customer service. These rods handle the fish I encounter from smaller fish to some pretty large ones, I'm more than content. Extreme lightness and sensitivity are not very important issues to me.

Landing Big Fish
Technique is what lands fish and that comes with experience. I don't blame not having the right equipment when I've lost a fish, it usually happens due to my own error. Sure there are times I've had a fish get wrapped around the engine or trim tabs and been cut off, but no one lands them all. I agree, as far as I'm concerned the difference between a 1# fish and 100# one is 99#, the bigger one just takes more time to land. You want to learn how to land bass, practice on more formidable fish.

Braided Line Noise
PP slick is the quietest and smoothest I've used and wind knots pull thru easier due to the slickness. I don't recommend or condemn any line, find what you like, your'e the one doing the fishing. When using any others braids I don't find the noise issue to be bothersome, make sure your line roller is working properly.

Shotgun blast to the head should do the trick.

Improving Drop-Shot Hook-Up & Landing Ratio...
The equipment is fine, just a matter of perfecting your own technique, I don't see a major problem in landing them.

Brook Trout???
I'm not sure what it is, may not even be any kind of trout, the upper and lower lip do not protrude enough.

Wire Leaders
Update, got cut off 2 more times yesterday, never caught more bluefish and ladyfish in my life. Blues have jaws like a vice grip, they can bite lures rendering them useless and sometimes bite thru wire, but catching them on top water or subsurface lures is the bomb. I don't ever use a lure I'm not prepared to lose, dislike wire and won't fish defensively.

Where Would You Fly?
Within the United States it would be Hawaii, but not for bass, I have them right in my backyard, I'd be going for giant trevally.
-
Biodegradable Line?
I use Eagle Claws worm and trebles with no problem at all, use their 5/0 circle hooks for amberjack, holds them IMO you got a good hook.

Excuse My Ignorance
Yeah, but Harvard, Princeton and Yale are up North......lol That reminds me, why is it? Up north Down south Back east Out west

Wire Leaders
I don't like wire and seldom use it. Over the past 10 days or so I probably have been cut off close to 20 times, twice with wire too. Haven't calculated the financial lost, the inconvenience is the trek to the store for replacements. Well worth both the time and expense considering the fish I've been catching, hope it continues.

New Spinning Reel Setup.
I'd buy the size that fits the rod the best, the difference mainly is weight and line capacity, I do believe the performance will be identical. I like the 30 size.

This Is Why I Detest Calling Customer Servicef
Problems can arise with any customer service rep due to a lack of communication, on their part or the customer. Rods are a very subjective item, everyone has a different take on them. I prefer to buy a rod in person and make my own decision on the spot, seems to work just fine.
