Braid.. Which Kind?
I use regular PP, I can buy it anywhere any time of day and the price is right. Nothing ever heavier than 15# for bass in heavy cover, lighter for open water. 20# is my usually inshore size, although if I'm fishing beach I'm dropping down to 10 or 15# as most of the fish aren't going much more than 20 pounds or so and I want as much line capacity as I can get. 15# probably will break around 20 pounds or so, using the drag correctly the chances of a fish breaking the line are remote, the knots hold just fine. I've used other braided lines and they work well too, I don't see any real advantage 1 brand over another. My strike rate doesn't seem to vary, my landing rate is probably about the same, bottom line use what you like, it's your money.

Cool Video On Casting Techniques With A Spinning Reel
I've done that myself, if it works for ya cool.......For me it's simpler just to make an easy 1 handed side arm cast, back or forehand. I am in the spinning gear camp, do not care for b/c.

Different Fishing Rods
What the rod is rated for is only for the benefit of throwing lures, I have mh rods that max at 1 oz, other mh that max and 1.5 and some that max at 2 oz. The power is still med heavy on those rods and do not handle a larger fish any better, all it means is I can throw heavier lures more comfortably.

Mono And Copolymere Knots
3 knots for both fresh and saltwater. Braid gets my own version of an improved clinch, leader to a swivel or a hook is an ordinary clinch and lures get a double wrapped loopknot, seldom do I tie line to leader but when I do it's an alberto. I put a fresh leader on everday for saltwater, but my braid knot is examined but not always retied. Leaders get frayed from gill plates, I do check them and retie if needed. Freshwater I check them but don't change leaders or knots that often.

Which Snap Do You Use?
I prefer the duolock style over the cross lock because I find it's easier to change lures with them, not an issue of quality. I do not buy name brand, I buy bulk lots fairly inexpensive. To my memory I've never had one fail, true I don't catch 20# bass, but I do catch 20# snook, tarpon and jack crevalles with them, well tied clinch knot and you're good to go.

Different Fishing Rods
You are confused because the manufacturers want you to be, they mean to sell you as many technique specif rods as you think you need. I personally think there is little difference between an freshwater and saltwater inshore rod, I use nothing but general purpose inshore rods for my bass fishing too, I also have light action 6'6'' that I use in ponds. My heaviest that I use for bass fishing is a med spin 8/17, 3/4 oz rod, it handles everything in freshwater for me. I think you have what need already.

Rod Holder In Car/suv
When I was go offshore with my partners we have about 9 or 10 rods, only 7 footers, we have a rod rack on the roof of the car, everything else goes into the trunk. When I'm alone my car has a trunk pass thru, 8 foot rods easily fit in, usually will have 3 or 4. Like Goose I have a box in my trunk, it's a little different and works very well for my needs. It's a plastic box 22" x 16" x 5" high. I have 4 small cardboard boxes, 1 for spoons, feathers, hard lures and plastic jerk shads, lures of the same size are put in individual lure boxes and labeled. There is room for accessories as well, my daily use fanny pack just rests on top. I have a small bag for freshwater lures too.

3 Am...up And Skipping Work
The only problem with fishing at 3 or 4 in the morning is I can't get these fish into the net, mine is too small and Frabill discontinued the larger size.........but I'll live with it......lol

Best State To Fish
If it weren't for my wife I'd be in California, not that catching permit and tarpon is bad here in Florida. I'd stay in California, everything is there, good weather, good fishing, the mountains and desert, different climates, urban as well as rural areas, and lots of variety aside from fishing. You have the Pacific Northwest just up the street and Mexico just down the street. The grass is not always greener some where else.

Is It Too Big?
I think the 20 is a way better choice for that rod, the 25 would have been good too. The 30 size which would have been usable may not balance near as well and not be as comfortable to fish with. Not being a professional tournament fisherman myself, common sense would sway me away from using a ul rod and 30 size reel with 4Lb line to horse bass in. Ul's are great for fun fishing, gills, small bass, trout and the like, but to use it to make money in a big time tournament does not sound feasible to me.

Medium Heavy Rod 1/8 Weight
Not all mh rods are the same. I have some where the parameters are 1/4 oz - 2 oz, or 3/8- 1 oz. and other variations. Optimal casting is the sweet spot, but there isn't a rod I own where I haven't used lures less or more than the indicated parameters. I have never incurred a problem with either scenario. Just yesterday I'm throwing a 3 oz lure on a rod rated for 2 oz, not a bit a problem, not the most comfortable but it got the job done. Conversely I've used if not 100's of times many dozens with very light lures, equally effective for what I was doing. The only thing I'm concerned about is putting the lure of my choice where it NEEDS to be, lures as far as weight goes will be all over the map using the same rod. I use nothing but general purpose spinning rods for every technique, lure weight and species.

Nice Flounder
Flounder is probably my favorite eating fish. Much tastier in northern waters than our southern flounder (called summer flounder). For me sauteed Dover sole is about as good as it gets.

Finding The Right Gal
My wife and I have a lot in common, but separate interests as well, no question about it we are soul mates. I was raised fishing since I could walk, my wife has no interest. She is a voracious reader, since college I hardly read at all. My fishing is my downtime, hers is going to classes. We do share an interest in theatre when a good play comes to town, symphony and ballet are really nice too once in a while.

Anyone Else Find Spinning Reels To Be Super Awkward?
I'm proficient with b/c, spinning and fly, for me spinning wins hands down. I like the way spinning feels, I can fish a bait any way I like. For me a baitcaster means using live or cut bait for offshore ocean fish with no level wind or manual breaking system. I have a spinning outfit I can use for bluegill, I have one to use for sailfish and others for every other kind of fish in between. My fly rod never seemed to get unloaded from the moving van 8 years ago, I'm getting ready to buy one for the surf.

Rod Lengths
I have identical rods, same brand and model, with the only difference being length. The 7 footer casts just about the same distance as the 7'6. The difference I see in the 2 is a longer rear grip which I much prefer and the blank is a little bit thicker. Catching the same kind of fish the 7'6 is the superior rod in terms of it handles fish, it isn't that apparent until the fish get over 10# or so. I really only use the 7' when it's real windy and the fish are running smaller. I've been fishing this species on these rods nearly everyday for the last 10 years.

Angler Released Possible World Record Musky
That's a heck of a muskie. As with any record or near record fish, they aren't easy to come by simply because there are less of them.

How Do You Eat Your Bass?
The smoker is great for oily fish, here in Florida they smoke the mackerel species. Being ethnic I was weened on several kinds of smoked fish, ocean salmon better known as lox or nova. Sable which is smoked cod and my personal favorite. In freshwater smoked salmon which are entirely different than ocean but pretty darn good too, smoked chubs and whitefish. Make sure you take the skin off that snook or you'll be eating soap. Interesting enough are the scavengers we eat, shrimp, crab and lobster, considered an unclean fish and against the kashrut laws( kosher), but so d**n good.

Site Giveaways
Francho is perfectly correct. The negativity against FB is promoted by people that just don't care for the format, in that case don't use it. If hacker wants to hack the opportunities are endless even without the use of FB. I've had credit cards (identity theft) hacked from a secure site (https), in some cases the bank notified me and in others it slipped thru them and I caught it. Each and every time the charges were dismissed and a new card issued. If there is a concern about pictures, whether it be on FB, BR or any place on the net, turn off the gps location in your smartphone camera.

Rod Pound Test Ratings
Depending on the situation there are always a number of ways to skin a cat. One thing I've learned is that my legs and back are much stronger than my rod and arms. Walking backwards with rod perfectly straight will not break a tip, either get broke off or unsnagged, I do this myself and see others doing many times a day. When I'm off shore getting caught on a reef is pretty common, if manual efforts fail we wrap the line around the reel and lock down the drag, then just pull it out using the engine at just a couple of knots, a beak off or unsnagging will occur.

How Do You Eat Your Bass?
I never eat bass. I grew up in the fish business, we mostly ate Lake Superior whitefish and Lake Erie pickerel (which are called walleye in the states), these 2 fish were out most popular with out clientele. We may saute with a very light breading like flounder or sole, but usually bake, broil or grill our fish. I don't like masking the true flavor of fish with batter and oil. One thing I miss for sure is whitefish.

Rod Pound Test Ratings
If your going to use a stick, I wrap it around my shoulder and walk backwards, best to open the bail or put the reel in free spool, there will be no tension on the tip then.

Rod Pound Test Ratings
One saltwater inshore example for me is a mh 10/25 rod and heavy 12/25 without any doubt the heavy rod is beefier even though the max line rating is the same. Inshore rods are similar if not identical in the way they are rated, a med 8/17 saltwater is no different than the freshwater counterpart in terms of power, lure and line ratings. Not all manufactures list lure or power ratings on their boat rods, but will label them 30# or 40#, other powers as well. Some manufactures list all the information on their boat rods. Yeah, it can be confusing, I really only pay attention to the power rating. I've yet to see anyone encounter problems using a heavy braid like 30# on a 8# rated rod which sounds like a ml or light. Personally I wouldn't use line that heavy on a light outfit, if the reason is to pull fish out of cover I'd be using a rod with more backbone too.

10Lb Mono Line On 2000 Series Reel?
Craww is correct. I'd probably stay with 8# or maybe look for a thin 10#. Over spooling can mean coiling (coiling isn't line twist), soak you line in warm water then troll it out before you fish, all you really need to do. I would not use the 8# as a backing, joining a 10# line to it would create a knot I would find undesirable. Bottom line, if your 8# is working just stay with it, 10# isn't that much stronger.
