Wind and surf were a bit strong for the ocean so I did some freshwater, I did pretty well in the canals, until I got around 30 fire ant bites.

what rod should i pair up with my shimano citica
You have stated on other threads that you fish every day, since we are 300+ days into the year, you are averaging but 1 fish a day, imo hardly a lot of fish. Seldom a day goes by I don't catch over 5( conservative as I fish salt and fresh daily) fish and I really don't considered that to be a lot, I know guys that out fish me, I'm a lousy fisherman. Lucky for me my fish are sizable enough where sensitivity is not issue but backbone is, I mostly use plastics, DOA being my go to. For fresh water one of my rods is clarus spinning, sensitive enough to detect any little dink.

I guess Quantum deserves it rep..
It's not the reel ( Quantum) that's bad, it's the opinion people have of their own equipment raising to levels of fantasy, so much of it contributed to a notion of being in a club of higher status.........my cabo performs as well as any other brand and I own many of them. I'm not saying I favor my quantum over another, but also not saying I favor others over the quantum. The irony is that many that are down on a certain brand never owned or used one.

Charter Fishing
This is a cash business that requires no business model except clients and lots of them. Simple math is your guide, earnings less expenses = starvation. The top side as far as revenue goes is low to begin with, business is a loser. You will be reporting less income to keep taxes lower which means less social security, if we still have at, at your retirement age, but still will shell out about 14% for it. Also no health care benefits which is probably the biggest liability of all. I could go on forever. I encourage you to own your business, there is nothing more rewarding, but not this one. In the early days my business was primarily a cash business, luckily I had no ceiling on earning potential, but you do.

Any Osbourne or Ida reports lately?
I'm not too far from Glades and Lyons........end of Wiles road has a ton of peas and nice LMB. Boca Rio canal sometimes is very good and you are at waters edge, no high bank.

I gotta say something about this
Money paid on a lease (upfront security deposit) for space is not an asset, it's a cost and occurs before the first of the revenue starts. Insurance would be another example of a non asset cost upfront expense.

I gotta say something about this
Expenses come first, you have costs involved to set up a business even before the first sale is made, sales and revenue really the same thing.

Any Osbourne or Ida reports lately?
Yeah don't go.......unless you have a boat. I've stopped at Lake Ida a few times and for me it hasn't been very good. Lot's of peas in Boca canals, but I would head to Coral Springs or Coconut Creek, some ponds there hold nice fish and you can use light tackle, no high bank to deal with. I haven't been over to the FAU spillway in a long time but I know on high tide there is snook, LMB and Peacocks there.

i guess i'm back
the break was nice, but i definitely missed BR. have you been on the beach lately? are the mullet thick where you are? i was surfing 2 weeks ago in Sebastian and the snook, jack, and everything else were hammering the schools that were balled up. South Palm Beach isn't Sebastian, it's referred to as the "dead zone". I'm out everyday and the beach bite isn't what it was last year. Some very big tarpon rolling in the surf, 1 hot bluefish day and small daily jacks, I did manage a couple around 10#. The ICW is what seems to be happening, but you need to head north and go early. I have a couple of spots that the tarpon and snook are busting and 20+ jacks are not uncommon.

One may make the same claim to Honda, Toyota and others for having American plants employing American workers, putting money into the American economy. At one time the labor was cheap here in the U.S., until workers got organized, we had sweat shops here. Just a matter of time until the Chinese outsource their labor as their middle class grows and can no longer afford to pay higher wages.

Didn't know you were gone, I've taken a break myself.

New PB Peacock!
^why would you call out a spot like that? I am not saying you are right or not but why would you do that? That is why people swirl backgrounds. I'm all for sharing information and I've never faded a background out, my policy will never change. The further south you go the better the peas get, if anyone gets down this way, I'd share what I know. Peas are abundant in Delray. Here is how I see it. If someone posts a picture and doesnt name the spot he was fishing, and you THINK you recognize the spot. Keep it to your self. Rather than advertise it to the World Wide Web. I just think thats common courtesy, if the person posting the pictures wanted to share the location he would spell it out in the original thread. 441 is long road with scores of good spots and I did not pin point the spot, but I fish it all the time, live a few minutes from there. On other forums which I frequent we share our info and always point people in the right direction, not to say that there isn't some that don't share but most do.

Forum policies and enforcement
IMO, there was quite a bit of favoritism and I'm glad to see that it has been addressed. Glenn took the initiative to contact me personally regarding an issue and hopefully it's been resolved, I applaud him for that. As of late I have been limiting my time on BR and posting much less.

Taking Care of Equipment
Nothing but a drop of oil every 6 months or so on my freshwater gear. My saltwater equipment gets rinsed after every outing and professionally serviced when needed, maybe every 6 months or so.

american made hooks?
Never had a problem with eagle claw and never had a bass straighten one out, rust no issue I use a fresh one each outing. I use 4/0 circle eagle claw for kings, dolphin and bonita and they still don't straighten out.

Lost Lures from Shore
Losing tackle is part of fishing, best thing is to go weedless. Bow and arrow method has about a 10% recovery rate if you are lucky. What works best for me is once I feel that I'm hooked.......STOP !!!, you don't want to wedge the hook in any further, especially if it's rocks or coral reef. I release my bail or free spool in a conventional ( you want no tension on the tip, I have snapped 3 that way) and take the loose line and just jiggle it or a firm tug till it comes loose. My recovery rate is good. I use a weedless spoon quite a bit and they don't hang up too bad.

2 pc rods, hate them have one, what kind of glue can I use to glue it together?

Quantum Rods?
To my satisfaction I believe my point has been made and I do understand where RW is coming from, the only thing he and I will ever agree upon is that the sun rises and sets everyday. I respect his opinion whether I agree with it or not, he's a bright guy. In total fairness to RW I truly feel he does a fine job as a MODERATOR and Br is lucky to have him in this role, he puts a smile on my face each day.

Finally & it was fast and furious.
I haven't been to LW, just Boynton and there are mullet, but not that thick. Tuesday was a great day, lots of blues and lots of people. Wed & Thursday the winds were a good 30mph with too much seaweed to fish the beach, just had lot small jacks off the pier and a couple of snook on the outgoing.

UL spinning combo for 50$
I fish for Mayan cichlids down here, awesome little guys that go up 2#. I have a pflueger trion ul on a light 5'6 lighting rod that fishes like ul rod. I like this set up and switched from 4# mono to 10# braid. Works well with a crappie jig or beetle spin.

Finally & it was fast and furious.
5:00 am, black out, 30 mph winds, 6 foot surf, getting wet with fast action, taking a pic or even carrying a camera for me is out of the question and no else has one either. Holding a 10# fish with one hand and snapping a photo with the other does no justice to the catch, you can only see part of the fish. I did catch about a 15# Jack under daylight benign conditions last week and a passerby took my my pic with a phone, the sob never mailed me the pic.....lol. The purpose of the post is for local fisherman to know what's going on and maybe for them to get in on the action.
