Pflueger President 6735X
I use my 6735 in saltwater still perfect after a year of hard use, my 6730 is used only for freshwater bass, they are good reels. IMO if the weight is not an issue my medalist is smoother ( smoother than my stradic fi or my Quantum Cabo ) I have caught many Bluefish and Jacks 10#+ on the 6735 and the LM bass hasn't been born yet to out fight those guys......the supreme is an excellent value for freshwater bass.

Freshwater rod use in saltwater?
Clarus guides will not rust out. I have a cheap rod I love that the guides get brittle then crack and the insert falls out. My remedy that works perfect.........super glue the insert back in and you are good for another year. I fish saltwater everyday, but limited time in the brine should have no ill effects on a rod.

Would it be a waste to have 2 same rods, different ratio reels??
I keep things real simple, 1 rod when I fish. I have never had a problem just adjusting my retrieval speed when fishing, in fact it's my preferred way to fish. That being said I pay absolutely zero attention to ratio or ipt. In my experience I think I catch more fish with a slower retrieve.

Everglades bass, oscar and cyclids 11-20-09
I have just opened my freshwater season and the bass are turned on, but as mentioned above getting peacocks probably 5 to 1 and we do have oscars here as well. Caught a pea 3-4# but the phone pic was unworthy of a post. I am seeing more gators than normal this time of year too. My freshwater fishing is limited to my Delray Beach neighborhoods from shore.

Any sake fans here?
Sake is rice wine, not liquor and I prefer it warm then sipped.

Only takes 1 to make your day
Went with some friends out of Riveria Beach Monday and it was pretty rough out there. Grouper & Yellow tail were hot and quite a few Dolphin. I caught a nice Dolphin about 10# but my Canon ( had been sent back to the mfg 2 times already)had battery failure once again. It's going back today with a letter telling them not to fix it but to keep it and stick it someplace and if they a need a suggestion as to where , CALL ME !

Do you consider "live" bait cheating?
Live bait cheating, Puleeeezeeee ! Not a thing wrong with live bait. I personally only use artificial in both fresh and saltwater, I don't even care to use any kind of plastic worm.

Freshwater Rod used in the salt?
Yes!.....it's ok for a while even if you rinse but the guides will rust out or get brittle and crack, which just happened to me and I always rinse. I like this rod so much I'm going to replace all the guides. I don't think you you will have any problem with a carrot stick, I would not hesitate to use it. What is your target species and where will you be fishing, beach, flats on a boat, pier?

Only takes 1 to make your day
The surf cam showed flat seas early in the morning but changed by the time I got to the beach, big big breakers coming in but the wind was still from the west, surfers out in force. Highest I've seen the water this year, all the way to the high water mark so I gave it a shot as the trough was so huge. Only managed 1 Jack on my " magic " spoon, but it went around 29" based on the 28" snook mark on my rod, that's approaching 20 lbs. Med rod, light spinning reel, 15# test, only thing for me more ultimate would be a 30 pounder.....lol No bait around it's getting slow out there.

Bass and Seawalls
Lot of good reasons mentioned. Another reason is the heat that is retained from the previous day. Fish, not only bass like to hang out there early morning to warm up.

Zoom Swimming Super Fluke
I use my saltwater paddle tails for freshwater and they seem to be effective, I prefer them to any freshwater fluke type I've used. For me, I love soft plastics in saltwater, but I'd take a hard bait in freshwater anytime.

Florida Cold-front
SirSnookalot nailed it (Johnson Silver Minnow 1/2oz x 2½" black nickel w/ Fat Albert trailer) Roger I've been using a 3/4 oz j-spoon for surf fishing lately, one of the better spoons made for any water.

Fishing rod weight and "perceived stoutness"
I see more ugly sticks used for inshore than anything and yet to meet anyone that doesn't love them, but sensitivity is not issue, even a 1lb blue runner slams you. As far as a rod breaking, if it's in good shape it should be fine, I caught 2 lemons about 150# on a penn pursuit 12/25 spinning rod, although not in the league of my tallus as far as strength goes, but rated the same. Bass are a different ball game, they are inhalers and often the bite is delicate, I use an Im7 clarus which is sensitive enough to feel a freshwater snail crawling over the line.

how to use an live minnow with out a bobber
Back in the day we used a 3 way swivel with live minnows, not unlike a chicken rig or drop shot rig, while drifting. Just yesterday morning on my way home I stopped by a canal and met a guy fishing with live minnows( bobber) telling me he was catching many bass in the 5+range there, best I was mustering was a 10" dink on an xrap.

Your biggest fish.
I opted not to chime in as I thought this was LMB only, of which I've caught a number over 10#. Few months back I caught a tarpon off the surf with light spinning with a poppa dog, went apx 80#. Just a memorable catch of my youth......Cobia, spinning gear, 1975 age 30, sold that fish to a chef at the Pier House hotel in Key west.

Wow?
Several days ago my wife picked a virus on hr computer ( no porn sites) and the pop ups began. Had a tech come over and fix the problem, everything is fine now. At least for the cost of service he left the program on the computer for future use. I put the program on my computer and had some junk I didn't know was there, all clean and the puter works like the day I bought it. I've been running the program every 3 days or so and there is always some new unwanted sh^t.

46 mph wind
The Boca coastal wind gauge read 46.5 mph so I decided to hit Dog Beach where the bluefish have been running. Wading in the surf with breakers coming in only at about 4' I thought to be ideal conditions. To my dismay no fish were around, then after about 25 minutes of casting I get hit hard. Battled this fish for quite some time then I beached it, a jack weighing a good 15#. My arms were so tired I just walked off the beach and went home, but I will be back tomorrow.

Help! what lures do you guys use for peacock bass?
Xraps and facsimiles, top lures and my favorite gold spoon, anything that has some flash to it. Best place close is heading south, Coral Springs, I get them in the canals around Boca and Delray.

Is this site for sale?
This number comes from very thin air and I'm surprised to see it. What is insulting is not the actually number but just the posting of an opinion after Glenn stated this site is not for sale. Not being an insider and not privy to the assets of this site or any company it is impossible to attach dollar figure.

Broken Tip Guide
Any tackle and bait shop can replace the tip for 5 bux in less than 5 minutes. No need to fiddle with warranty, packaging and shipping, or even waiting for a tip to be delivered by mail. Different story if the tip of rod itself is broken.

Little input before I order
Teramar is good rod but way too much for bass, as said the ratings may be different ( I've never seen anything written about that from a mfg), there are west coast and east coast versions. I use only only spinning gear and nothing heavier than a medium, don't see the need for freshwater fish under 10#.
