  1. Having decent week despite it being late in the season for these guys, caught 4 and had 2 more bumps.
  2. Trumpets don't fight much, but snook do. Rolo don't come I didn't have a strike the last 2 days......lol. This time of the year you either go offshore for sails and dolphin or do freshwater fishing. I'm a die hard beach or ICW fisherman, I keep doing it all winter long.
  3. 7 fish is a good day this time of year, it's slowing down. That was my second trumpet, I caught same beach about 3 years ago(maybe it's the same guy Can't catch a bass over 3# to save my life but managed 5 snook in the ICW this morning.
  4. I get up about midnight and piddle around on the net for a few hours then leave about 3 or 4 and go to the ocean to fish. Get home about 9-10, nap for an hour or so then go bass fishing for couple of hours.
  5. Went out to the beach, caught 2 snook and 4 jacks then I get hit and reel this in..........trumpet fish.
  6. I use 15 or 20# braid salt and 10 or 15# braid for freshwater. I get plenty of knots in freshwater mostly due to top water popping or pause and twitching jerkbaits, mostly with 10#, not as much with 15#, just part of the deal. Seldom do I knot up in saltwater as the presentations are more of a constant retrieve, like a spoon, but it will happen from time to time.
  7. I fish for kings a lot and that is a big one, mine are usually between 10-20lb, but have seen them 40 or so. Different associates have different records, I just read world record 72#, but Florida record 90#, so who really knows?
  8. I ran into a fisherman while I was pea hunting in Coral Springs yesterday and he told me had done well at Holiday park recently.
  9. Boooootiful fish ! Being originally from Michigan I have fished Ontario many many times, love the Algoma region.
  10. At one time we had a place in Cabo. The first couple of years I went fishing in a Panga, not big maybe 23' or so. No motor, the guide rowed into the cape, but there you need not go very far into the bay, now they have motors. Yeh those bonita are awesome, we catch them here in Florida.
  11. As far as fishing, it makes no difference to me at all. In pro golf the clubs under the headcovers are not always the same brand. Many pros may split their irons between blade and cavity back and wedges can be entirely different brands. Tiger Woods uses a Titleist putter with an old style Ping grip that looks like it hasn't been changed in years, those grips get very slick too.
  12. I have a supreme 35 that I use for salt water on 8/17 med rod and I mostly cast 3/4 oz spoons. It's plenty of rod for fish 20#. For me, I would never use anything heavier than a med rod for bass( I normally use a light or ml rod), except if fishing from a high banked canal and that's only to hoist them out of the water and up the side of the canal, in a boat I go as light as possible and never use anything heavier than 15# braid.
  13. Glad to say I need nothing, so I didn't even consider dealing with Black Friday, went fishing instead.
  14. The topic is sexy cars, not new era gto's and mustangs, which are not sexy cars cars. The lines of the 60's gto's made them sexy, I had a 69 mach 1, 4 speed largest engine and running side pipes, many excessive noise tickets, great ride but even that car was far from the sexiest of that period. Paid $3144.
  15. I have done very well out of Islamorada with guides, many available but lodging can be tough.
  16. Back in the early 90's my partner and I bought out one of our customers (was in bankruptcy), a slitting co in Oak Park. We slitted master coils on a 60" slitter, eventually going to Granite City, Il. and buying a much better slitting line. My speciality item was pressed iron powder containing traces of copper and ni, which makes gears for transmissions and other auto and off road items. Until I got this account, can't say the name, I always thought gears were made out of steel, for many they are not. Being in the steel field I thought you may have found that interesting.
  17. In south Florida the bass bite is slower in the summer, they are really turning on right now. Works great, summer is good inshore fishing in the ocean or ICW and slows down about now to do some bass & peacock fishing. My line is in the water year round.
  18. I have used a drop fly rig with success.
  19. I'm not fussy about hooks, I use 3/0 eagle claws and never had a freshwater fish bend them, in fact I have used them on snook and they still don't bend. I have caught bass over 5# on a cheap crappie jigs and those hooks didn't bend either.
  20. I agree with Rolo on the mg saltwater use. I have been using a pflueger supreme almost daily in the salt for over a year, reel is still perfect. In fact on shimano's web site the stella is approved for saltwater. The only problem that could arise would be if some of the finish were scratched off. Anyone fishing saltwater knows to rinse your equipment after each use and there is a proper way to do it.
  21. If you don't mind answering as to what field you are in. I am originally from the Detroit area before moving to Fla. I'm interested in what areas are picking up, my field was scrap metals.
  22. Couple from my Euro collection, muscle cars only on hard copy photos.
  23. Paper towel to clean my glasses of salt spray and flashlight around my neck, pretty much it. Freshwater rods have a 20 inch mark and inshore saltwater rods have 28 inch & 32 inch marks (snook slot).
  24. I've been catching some nice bass too but only fishing canals as I'm stalking peacocks, got a 4 pounder a few days ago. Ocean bite has slowed down a lot ( no bait around) but I caught Jack that approached 20 pounds earlier in the week.
  25. Now those are real fish !
