My boy went to college majoring in finance. He took a job as an accountant, is now the senior accountant and is being groomed to take over the business in the next 5 years. I told him not to forget who brought him into this world. A very lucrative career. I was a refrigeration mechanic for 15 years before a career ending injury took me out of the game. I'm currently selling commercial and industrial controls. The hvac/r industry is hurting for skilled technicians right now. Current UA journeyman wages in Chicago are close to $50 an hour plus carte blanche benefits as far as insurance and retirement.Castle Rock is not really known for bass. Most guys fish it for musky, and walleye. That being said, the Wisconsin river system has a real good summertime smallmouth bite, albeit the size is generally small. I haven't fished Castle Rock, but have spent time fishing both the upper and lower Dells as well as Lake Wisconsin, which are the 3 bodies of water just south of Castle Rock on the river. I like to use lead heads and Gulp minnows and bounce jigs off the shelves on the steep walls.Why not buy used? A spare is only that.I will agree to disagree. Try cutting the bass fillets into scallops, wrap with bacon, put them on shishkabob sticks and grill over indirect heat.Not a bass but my PB walleye is the most realistic skin mount I have ever seen. Makes my PB bass and PB crappie skin mounts look mediocre at best. If I ever catch a new PB bass and this guy is still practicing taxidermy I'm going to wrap the fish in a wet towel, put it in the freezer, and bring it to him to make a permanent memory for my trophy wall. Sometimes I regret throwing back my PB smallie, but I already had a smallmouth skin mount. Still debating a replica, but confident I'll catch another Sturgeon Bay hawg that will spend its afterlife above my fireplace.
If my livelihood depended on me catching fish, I would have the best tools to do the job. The reality is, there is much more to fishing than just finding fish. Dams are built for water control and/or to create electricity. Risking the property of a few to create a necessity for the masses is acceptable collateral damage. My home water floods every few years give or take. It's a river system and dams are for water control only. There are homes that flood every few years because they are low lying. I guess that's the price you pay for riverfront life.Look up on youtube Lake Delton 2008. Lake Delton is a man made lake near Wisconsin Dells. They got 12" of rain over a short period of time. A levy or spillway gave way and drained the entire lake, taking houses with it. The lake and all its contents dumped into the Wisconsin River. It has since been refilled and restocked.It's a shame CLF is no longer a forum that anyone visits. Some of the old guys would be impressed.
