Up Or Down? How Do You Keep Your Ob Motor When Trailering?
In the litigious society we have today...Who knows? Operator error gets thrown out the window. I would imagine an auto insurance claim would resolve the damage issue.

Ram Mount Extension On Bow.
You could always break out the piggy bank and upgrade to an Allison. They offer it as a factory option.

Up Or Down? How Do You Keep Your Ob Motor When Trailering?
Quote from Mercury's Owners Manual Ensure the outboard is in forward gear before trailering. This prevents the prop from spinning freely during transportation. Trailer your boat with the outboard down in the vertical operating position. If additional ground clearance is required, the outboard should be tilted up using an accessory outboard support device. Additional clearance may be required for railroad crossings, driveways, and trailer bouncing. IMPORTANT: Do not rely on the power tilt/trim system or tilt support lever to maintain proper ground clearance for trailering. The outboard tilt support lever is not intended to support the outboard for trailering.

Learning To Fish From A Boat
Cold fronts are going to give the bass lockjaw. Sounds like you did everything right. Fish finders don't "find" fish. They allow you to identify depth, bottom composition, structure, and in somewhat deeper water, identify fish or bait. If you are beating the banks the finder is pretty much used to keep you from running aground.

The smallies are on all the breakwalls. Just slap a 101lb thrust trolling motor on the Sea Ray and your good to go. I hear the coho's are on fire right now.

I think the rule is within 50ft of any moored boat.

Lets Say You Won A Brand New Top Of The Line Rig
10K? You are charged income tax at fair market value and run the risk of entering a higher tax bracket

Fuel Tank Issues
Could be deteriorated lines from ethanol or a bad vent

Lets Say You Won A Brand New Top Of The Line Rig
Which is why you see so many rigs or certificates for sale. Unless I was fishing out of a POS boat, I'd sell it You have to pay the taxes regardless..

Sturgeon Bay Open Wow!
I know you're not comparing the two. Just stating my experience. If the Wisconsin DNR is maintaining a statewide multispecies trophy fishery by doing what they are doing, so be it. Sturgeon Bay is not only an incredible bass fishery, but a trophy walleye and salmonoid, fishery where one can catch a fish of a lifetime. Well known lakes like Delavan, Geneva, Big Green, Mendota, Winnebago, the lakes and flowages in Hayward, as well as the smaller lessor known lakes are all quality fisheries. I've been fishing Door County for almost 40 years and the bass fishing has never been better. I give credit to the DNR and the gobies.

If you guys plan on fishing at night, keep your guard up and be aware of your surroundings. Fish with a partner if you can.

Non Skid Paint Instead Of Carpet
Vinyl seems to be the norm with some of the deep v manufactures. I prefer to fish barefoot until the carpet gets too hot. Anything that's not carpet will be bad on bare feet, and hot. Go with a light color like tan.

Your First Boat And Your Experience?
My first boat was a 17ft 1988 Chris Craft ski boat with a 75hp Johnson VRO which I bought for a steal in '96 from a couple that was getting divorced. It wasn't a fishing boat but it got me on the water. Anchor up and cast, move, anchor up and cast, and so on. After maybe 3 years the VRO system became a nightmare and after having 3 pumps replaced and missing a ton of time on the water I found a new mechanic and had the system bypassed, now having to premix the fuel on my own. Sold the boat in '04 for more than I paid for it. Bought a new 2004 17ft Mirrocraft with a 90 ELPTO which I fished out of until the end of last season. I now have a new Lund 2010 Predator with a 225 ProXS which I took delivery of this past March.

tbone, Do you fish Burnham by shore or by boat? If you have a boat, Monroe is a better option for smallies. I haven't shore fished in many years but Diversey and Belmont were always good for largemouth from shore as was the river.

Sturgeon Bay Open Wow!
Pain that they are and what they charge for a out of state license is robbery, the state of Wisconsin has an incredible fishery which they take care of. Their tourist industry depends on it for billions of dollars annually. I wish IL would do the same.

Tournament Slumps
Prefish. Prefishing allows me to find fish and eliminate non productive water and I believe the latter is more important. Come tourney day I'm not wasting time. I spent 3 days prefishing last week for a tourney this past Sunday. My plan of attack was to hit what I thought was the most productive water first, the guaranteed water last and run and gun the rest of the spots where I had found fish. Ended up 5th out of 51 boats and 3lbs short of 1st. Not my best finish, but it sure beats a goose egg. In the past, my slumps have always not being able to bring in a limit. Countless numbers of times I have been in the money with 4 and would have won if I had a limit. The more time on the water the better the odds.
