  1. Just wanted to get some feedback about this reel. I would be needing the left hand version, the 51.
  2. Never had much luck w/ subsurface/wake crankbaits, caught some but not my confidence lure. That all changed today, even w/ the weather going to nasty storm attitude. I bought the chart shad color & worked it close to the shorline & casted out. Fighting against the wind, this lure still casted out there. I ended up catching 11 bass on the Mann's 1-Minus & a couple more drop shotting. None of the bass were big but talk about a fun couple hours! I don't know what's the deal w/ this lure is, but it sure catches bass. Also used the new Cumara 6/8" M/H spinning rod w/ a Pflueger Supreme 8030 spinning reel. This combo is very light, much lighter than when I had the Saros 2500 mounted on the Cumara. Also used Yozuri 6 lb Ultrasoft spooled on...NO problems what so ever w/ Ultrasoft, I am sold on this line! Now I have to dig around for the other Mann's 1-Minus that I have....I have a new confidence lure!
  3. Just wanted to get some feedback about this reel. I would be needing the left hand version, the 51.
  4. The new Cumara 6'8: MH spinning rod I have, the rod blank if you look at it from the handle up to the last guide on the point; the blank very slightly curves to the left. Will this be okay to use & what does this mean when the rod was built? It wasn't spined correctly? Will it still be as sensitive or will any problems come abouts? This was the only 6'8" MH the store had & was just a bit disappointed that the blank wasn't string straight for costing $200.
  5. Bought the 600 yd spools through Cabelas. If you do get the Ultrasoft don't get the mint green colored line. I had some of this & it like a neon light underwater. The clear is the better of the 2 colors.
  6. I forgot to mention that Ultrasoft floats well too. I used some poppers & no problems working the lure!
  7. & I can tell you that this is some really good stuff! I spooled 8 lbs clear on my Saros 2500 & used my new Cumara 6'8" MH spinning rod. I know the Cumara had alot to do w/ the sensitivity but the Ultrasoft had a big part in it as well. Last week I was inquiring about 8 lb P-Line for spinning reels & I'm glad I didn't use that. The Ultrasoft casted great & I didn't get any line on the spool wanting to jump off the spool. It didn't have as much stretch as other floro coated lines that I've tried before. The coils were much softer coming off the spool too. I also bought the 6 lb Ultrasoft & will be spooling my smaller reels w/ this great line. Now I'm thinking of getting some 12 & 15 lb spools for my baitcasters. I've mostly used braid cuz I like how well I can feel what's going on w/ a lure. I think w/ the Ultrasoft, the feel is there too. Good-bye P-Line.... :'(
  8. Problem solved, FINALLY was able to talk to a supervisor about the Carrot Stix dilemma. She is crediting back to my credit card 1 of the wrong Carrot Stix from the 3. I am going to keep 1 of the 3 wrong one, the 6'9" parabolic. I pretty much told the supervisor that I have no faith in Cabelas to send a 4th MH rod & actually get the right one. I pointed out on their website that on the Carrot Stix LTX b/c rods, the 6'9" parabolic, 6'9" MH & 7'2" parabolic, after you press "add to cart", the model number that comes up are wrong, like they are all transposed. She saw this mistake & understood. So she credited back one of the wrong ones sent. So I am sending back 2 of the wrong ones. Now I just have to decide where to order my Carrot Stix 6'9" MH LTX b/c rod from. I see that *** has this model available now, & also Delos & Simmons Sports on ebay. Well, once the MH arrives I'll have 3 Carrot Stix. I'll use the parabolic for crankbaits & topwater. Just trying to get the MH has been a nightmare since I first originally ordred the 6'9" MH b/c & the 7' Med spinning rods. The past 2 weeks has been frustrating trying to have Cabelas send the right rod & ending up w/ 3 wrong baitcast rods. I had 2 parabolics & 1 7'2" parabolic. All I want is the 6'9" MH.....
  9. I have the 6'9" baitcast parabolic rod. I know that this is for crankbaits, but want to know (I haven't used it yet) if this can be used for Senkos too. I think it should be ok for light t-rigs & drop shotting. But you think that it could be used for Senkos? Here's what happened. I ordered from Cabelas & they can't get the order right for the 6'9" MH baitcast rod. They have sent instead the 6'9" parabolic. I complained & they sent another Carrot stix & sent another wrong one. This time the 7'2" Parabolic. On the 3rd try, they sent again the 6'9" parabolic. So I have 3 parabolic rods that I really don't want, but will end up keeping one, which will be the 6'9" parabolic. I prefer a rod action that is more of something that I can use w/ a few different techniques, & it seems that the parabolic is more for crankbaits. So just want to know from those who own the parabolic if I can use it for Senkos. Thanks for reading.
  10. What's the difference from the 7'2" jig rod from the frog rod? I'm getting the frog rod cuz that's what Cabelas has, I didn't see a jig rod. Nevermind, I went to the All Star site & checked out what the difference was. It's the same rod that All Star touts as jig/frog rod. http://www.allstarrods.com/as_asrseriesspec.html
  11. I bought the 6'9" Medium "spoon" b/c rod & have added the 7'2" frog b/c rod too. I should be getting the frog rod by the end of the week. Since I won't be getting the frog rod, any of you own this & how do you like it?
  12. Thanks DD, that's the answer I was looking for. I have 6 & 8 lb 600 yd spools of clear Ultrasoft ordered from Cabelas. I've used Yozuri Hybrid & I've had no problems w/ topwater w/ that line, I just didn't know if Ultrasoft was similar or different for topwater.
  13. So if ultrasoft floats then I can use poppers w/ this line? Ultrasoft will not affect the performance of the popper or say a zara spook?
  14. Since it has floro in its mix, does this line float? Can I use this line for topwater fishing?
  15. Check ***.com for the Optimum Popping Furbit. I have 2 of them & I really think this will be a great lure in the next month. I've been looking for a weedless popper that was heavy, this fits the bill. It's 5/8 oz & cast great.
  16. YAHOOOOOO!!!!! I got all 3 of my rebates in today...now I'm going to Disneyland!!! Nah, I'll probably save that money...maybe
  17. Rate the sensitivity......well..... Comparing the rods I have & not owning a high end Loomis or St Croix, I give the Cumara a 10. The Carrot Stix an 8 or 9, cux of the cheap looking guides, but they do have very good senstivity. I also like how light these rods are. I also own a Kistler Helium LTA 6'9" MH & the Cumara & Carrot Stix are a bit lighter. If I had to compare the sensitivity of these rods to the Helium, they are just a hair less sensitive, but not much. The line I am using is 30 lb Power Pro on the Cumara & 20 lb Sufix braid. I will be trying P-Line & Yozuri w/ these rods next week, just now the braid I am very comfortable using. I was watching Jimmy Houston fishing earlier today & he was using a Cumara for crankbaiting & catching bass. So the Cumara can be an all around rod for the action you want.
  18. Finally busted out the Cumara baitcast rod to use & I have to say it performed great! I've had this rod for a couple months & had it on my rod wall all that time, still w/ the tags & wrappers on it too. I've been waiting for that perfect time to debut the rod for fishing. It's been too cold & dreary the past couple months to bring that rod out & to truly enjoy using it. Those 2 months, I had to use either fingerless gloves or neoprene gloves to fish, just too cold that gloves were needed...so some feeling from my hands were numb. Well today was that perfect day, 60+ deg this morning w/ no wind...it's like the day screamed "IT'S TIME TO FISH!!!" I had my Curado 101D mounted on the Cumara & both worked in unison, a wonderful match. I felt more w/ the Cumara rod than other rods I have & the whole setup is quite light. I'm sure if I could get a Core it would be lighter but why spend $350 to save another ounce of weight??? The Curado 101D at 7.4 oz is just perfect. I picked the 6'8" medium, extra fast. This is a perfect all purporse rod. It has just the right amount of back bone that I could use 1/2 oz frog lures, but still cast lures from 1/4 oz up easily. The look of the Cumara rod is "STEALTH". I actually like the EVA or whatever foam grips are on the Cumara & Carrot Stix. I do feel that these grips give your hand more feel w/ vibrations coming from the line. As mentioned yesterday, Cabelas sent me the wrong Carrot Stix baitcast rod, but sent the right spinning rod. Cabelas is shipping out the right b/c rod & I just have to send back the wrong one, & they are paying shipping. So I used the Carrot Stix spinning rod w/ a Plueger Supreme 8030 reel. Another winner, both of these put together is very light weight & worked flawlessly. Using a Senko w/ the Carrot Stix rod is almost like cheating. I could feel much more of the bottom & when a bass takes the worm. The guides on the Carrot Stix really "cheapens" the look of the rod. They do look like SS guides from a lower line rod. I don't know if there is a difference from SS guides & chrome guides like the ones on the Carrot Stix. But I do have to say that the guides do add to the overall sensitivity to the rod. Also the guide rings are not as big or wide as on other spinning rods. I could cast heavy lures easily, but when using lighter lures, since the guides are smaller, they don't shoot out as far as a rod w/ ceramic/hardloy/alconite guides; that are also have bigger & wider rings. It's almost like how the zirconia guides are on the Kistler Helium, very good sensitivity. On both rods though, I don't like the placement of the hook holders, very unconventional. They are in my opinion are useless b/c of their locations. So I have instead installed Fuji Hook Keepers on my rods. But instead of installing them on top of the shaft just an inch of so above the reel seat, I put them on the rear handle. I tried putting it low by the butt end, but finding out that it gets in the way w/ my hand while casting. So I am going to still keep it on the rear handle end, but I moved it up closer to the reel seat grip. Now all is good! So I have one of each of the rods mentioned & waiting on replacemnents on a couple. Only been able to fish w/ these rods for 1 day, I know that I've made a great choice of getting these 2 rods for lightness & sensitivity.
  19. The blanks & the area by the reel seat to the butt end, are they all the same rod blank? I mean they are not 2 separate pieces put together by the reel seat? I guess my eyes are getting old, my Shimano Cumara & Carrot Stix look like from the reel seat to the back that the graphite is of a different diameter. Am I wrong or right about this?
  20. Found out why the 6'9" MH didn't feel right, Cabelas sent me the 6'9" Med Parabolic. I got it all fixed, Cabelas sending the right rod & I just have to send back the wrong one when the right one arrives.
  21. Emailed Shiamno & they said my rebate checks were mailed yesterday.
  22. FINALLY, Cabelas has delivered! I noticed on there website that the Carrot Stix were available, so I guess my order shouldn't be that far along. I've waited over a month for these sticks to be at my doorstep & a round tube from Cabelas was what greeted me when I got home from fishing. It was packed well in a round thick cardboard tube & wrapped in tape in 3 places while the rods were in individual long plastic bags. The tip tops were wrapped w/ foam...very good job, both rods arrived in great unharmed shape. I hate having rods delivered for the main reason that the chance of them getting screwed up in some way is high. I prefer to be at the store hand picking the fishing rod I want. I got the 6'10" MH b/c rod & the 7' Med spinning rod, here's my intial thoughts: Both rods look fantastic, but not being able to see them before ordering, just pics on the net; the orange color isn't as bright as I thought it would be. It's almost like a burnt deep orange color, like Kencor fiberglass rods. The hook hangers on both are on weird spots, right by the first guide coming from the reel seat. The b/c rod, the hook hanger is on the right side of the first guide & on the spinning rod it on top of the first guide....weird placement. Only thing I'm concerned is on the b/c rod. I just hope the line doesn't somehow get caught in the hook hanger. The Pac Bay Lite guides I have to say look "cheap". Almost reminiscent of the SS guides on my Berkley Cherrywood spinning rod & on the Berkley Series One rods. I wish the guides were as nice like the zirconia guides on the Kistler Helium LTA rods...but not in the blue color like on the Heliums. But I shouldn't be expecting too much for a rod that's $150, maybe at least Fuji Hardloy or Alconite guides; but I guess those guides would add weight. The reel seats give your fingers full contact w/ the rod blank, just like on the Shimano Cumara rods. They both feel very light, reminds me of the lightness of a Shimano Cumara. One thing I found on the bottom of the spinning rod....MADE IN CHINA. So, they are exported to Canada...all this time I thought they were made in Canada...NOT! I guess the Boyd Duckett series are made in Canada, I don't know. The rod action on the 7' Med spinning rod seems spot on. It's the 6'9" MH b/c rod doesn't seem right. It seems like it's more of a medium than MH. The rods power is fast, I guess that would explaine why it feels like a Medium rod than MH. If they only came out w/ it in extra fast. I Won't know till I try them out tomorrow. The action Overall I guess I'm happy w/ them, they do look cool. I guess sometime during this summer I may have to get the Daiwa Sol spinning & b/c reels to match up.
  23. Firstly, I know tht Yozuri Ultrasoft is probably the best to use for spinning reels, but this is what I have. I have a Shimano Saros 2500 it's rated for 140 yd of 8 lb line. Will 8 lb CXX work or will it get more line kinks when used on a spinning reel? I have 6 lb CXX spooled on right now, but looking to go w/ a heavier line. If I do use 8 lb CXX, I'll spray the line on the spool w/ Reel Magic.
  24. I sent my 3 Curado rebates first week in March. Till this day I have not received any of them. It's been almost 6 weeks & now I am very concerned about my rebates. I've sent other rebates for fishing line on the same day & those were also 4-6 weeks delivery, I recieved those. I sent all 3 Shimano reel rebates in an envelpe & had it certified mail. I got the certified confirming it was signed at the rebate center about 4 weeks ago. Is there a phone number that I can call to find out what is going on w/ my rebates?
