  1. Hope your credit cards are all warmed up for this year's high priced/high tech swimbaits. They even have ones for the midwest...pike/musky fishing. I gotta say that these are works of art & I will have a hard time fronting the money for even one of them. The thought of losing one just gives me shivers down my spine!!! http://www.tackletour.com/reviewise2007sac.html
  2. Silica packs takes in moisture, that's why they use them when you buy shoes. It keeps the shoes have a mold build up. Inhibitors work great. A bit better than the silica packs that it won't rip open & have little silica pellets all over the place. I use a couple of them in my boxes and hook box, so far no problems w/ rust.
  3. 'The lure weight range is standard 1/4-5/8 oz. Any mfg like Shimano, Berkley, Bass Pro Shops, etc. I understand that one company's med action isn't similar to another company's. But let's take it in general sense. Can I use a med action rod for worm/jigs? I know that this action is more suitable for cranks/spinnerbaits. Will I be able to use Senko's & 3/8-1/2 oz jigs, if so; what will I be losing out if using a med action rod? Is a med/heavy rod suitable for worms/jigs? Can this be used for cranks/spinnerbaits? I'm just confused on the different actions of rods & why one person would be one over another. I read an article in Bassin' in regards to Rick Clunn. He's pretty much just use a 7' med/hvy rod for all his presentations. He's gotten away from the technical side of bass fishing. Who here goes by Rick Clunn's theory, or are you more of a multi rod user? Any thoughts????

  5. Have fun Rattlinrogue! I'm heading to the BPS store in Gurnee Mills, Illinois tomorrow. My wife has a friend that lives 5 miles from there. I've been there a handful of times & it's like the coolest place if you're a fisherman. I've also been to the BPS store in Las Vegas. Now that one is too cool. What more can you ask for, a fishing store w/ a casino attached to it. Let us know how your experience is at BPS, & what you've bought.
  6. I fished for bass during the spawn last year in Calif. After catching a bass on their nest, I waited to see if that bass would return. After a few minutes that bass did return. But a couple days later, the bass that have been caught on those beds get smart. I witnessed the bass would either swim away, or if a lure is on its bed, it will grab the lure in a different area, so it avoids the hook. Seriously, I've seen this. Also heard that smallmouth bass, during the spawn, will hit a lure & when returned will go back to its nest. But sm bass are known to hit the lure again, & again. They are that agressive & will protect their property.
  7. Glad you guys ordered your catalog. If you check out the BPS baitcast reels, they have up the ante on the Extreme reel, they have 9 new models. One even has a 7.1:1 gear ratio. I also like the new layout of the 2006 master catalog, much easier to figure out what the colors & models are of lures. Well, Merry Christmas!
  8. I would think you have to request the catalogs. Here's a link, a little Christmas gift from Ghost: https://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.CFPage?appID=130&mode=view_catalog&type=dom&
  9. Oh Happy Day!!! Now I have great quality reading material..or do I finish Harry Potters "The Half Blood Prince"???? Oh man, I have a hole burnin' in my pocket. It's like I want to take my time and look at the whole catalog.
  10. After reading the posts here, I am gonna try Bang Garlic tomorrow, for trout/salmon & then to the lake for bass fishing. Did I mention this little lake, that someone sometime ago dumped chain pickeral???
  11. Just trying to figure out why garlic scent will attract bass or any type of fish. I have Megastrike & Kick'n Bass scent & they both have garlic in them. I would think scents w/ crawfish, earthworm, or shad would be better than garlic. Okay, I also have a can of Bang garlic, but I hardly ever used it. I just don't understand why a fish would be attracted to such a strong smell. Any insight on this?
  12. I river fish in Northeast part of Indiana. The smallmouth & walleye are not around like they were back in Aug/Sept. I am guessing that the salmon & steelhead coming in for their migration have scrared them off. I don't know where they are now. So I can use a tube bait for river fishing even if there is current??? Also there are rocks/snags on the bottom & have lost some lures.
