  1. I changed out the rusted hooks & rings w/ new rings & size 4 Gamakatsu trebles. The rusted hooks looked like it had a size 4 in front & size 6 in back. But I did keep the original rings & hooks...just in case it is a collectors item.
  2. I received the jointed spot today. Well, I looked at the lure, it's hooks & split rings were rusted. But on the bottom side of the is says "spot". So Cotton Cordell did make a jointed spot at one time. It's pretty cool looking lure, a jointed rattle trap style. I wonder if it's rare & worth anything...
  3. http://www.fishingworld.com/brannansbass/Details.tmpl?ID=117583155566876048&Cart=108400775213149213 Anybody tried these lures? Would you fish this like a fluke on a EWG non weighted hook, or one w/ a weight on the bottom, like the ones used for paddle tails.
  4. Can't find any info if these reels are graphite or aluminum frames. I think that they are graphite, well the gold Max might be aluminum being an $80 reel. But I think the silver & black Max are graphite. Anyone know???
  5. Oops...hand typing faster than the mind...Stradic FH
  6. I have both & besides the color scheme & the bail wire, they seem to be the same reel. Both have the same bearing count & anti-corrosion bearings. So what are the difference from these 2 reels? Why was the Stradic at $120 at its time when the Symetre was $80? The specs seem the same, I didn't see much difference in them.

Can you please see if the shop has any 100 series in pink or bubblegum color? If so, can you let me know, I am interested in this color for river fishing for small mouth bass. Please PM
  8. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=&id=0002046110120a&navCount=0&podId=0002046&parentId=&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=&indexId=&cmCat=netcon&cm_ven=netcon&cm_cat=N/A&cm_pla=N/A&cm_ite=netcon&hasJS=true You guys know of this reel? It's been around for a long time. I keep hearing from local fishing stores how good/great this reel is. I've picked up one & it is light, since it's body is graphite. But it does not have instant anti-reverse. I've not casted one, but I understand that it casts much farther than other reels. Also the drag is one of the best & quite durable. I'm also surprise that this reel has not changed much, except wehre it's made. I think the originals were made in Japaan, but the latest models are either made in Thailand or Malaysia. But they still hold a new value of $90+, depending on the model. Just wanted to get some input if this reel is worth it.
  9. Never thought of the eyes & how the line tie would correlate to the lure. When I get the lure, hopefully sometime next week, I'll see if it has "Cordell" raised stamp on the side. I just found it interesting that it's a jointed rattle trap, never seen one of those before. I don't know if it's an older lure that Cotton Cordell made, how many years ago, I don't know.
  10. Found this on ebay & won it. I've never seen a jointed rattle trap style lure before & found it interesting. I'm guessing it's about 1/2 oz, weight wasn't listed. It looks cool & very different, can't seem to find anymore of them in different colors though. I hope it works just as good as a regular spot or rattle trap...
  11. I bought the reel yesterday, it was in a display case w/ the extra spool. The box & its contents were thrown away. I may send the reel to a very good buddy as a present & would like to have it complete w/ the box, so that's why I'm asking if who owns the Stradic 2500 if they don't need the box & its contents if they don't mind parting w/ it.
  12. Just wondering for those of you who have the Stradic 2500FH, the pearl white one; if you still have the box & all the contents. If you still have the box & everything that comes w/ it, & don't need it anymore, will you be interested to giving it away or selling the box & what came inside, minus the reel? If so, shoot me a PM. Thanks!
  13. Yup, I have 4 that I am looking too sell. I'll post pics later this evening. They work great, I have 4 others I am using & these are extras. Any interest PM
  14. Sorry if this sounds like a technical question, but here goes: In regards to backing on a baitcast reel when using braid, does line diameter make any difference? Like if I use 20 lb backing, it has a pretty big diameter, would that make the spool spin faster/better, or slower & not as good? Would using a thinner diameter line, like say if I am using 40 lb braid w/ a 10 lb dia, then I use 10 lb mono backing, will the spool spin any better? Or if I went w/ a thinner dia line would that make an impact of the perfromance of how the spool spins w/ braid? Also, using only half backing & the rest braid would that make a difference if I use more braid than backing? Yup, cabin fever has gotten me thinking weird thoughts.....
  15. You guys who own either reel, do you still use them? I have a C3 4601 that I bought from Cabelas back in 2005. This reel still works great, but since it's old school in design, high profile; low ipt, just wondering if I should keep it or sell it. This is the older C3 w/ 2 centrifugal brakes, instead of the newer model w/ 6 brakes. But it's thumb shift instead on the side of the reel. Put the money to a new baitcast reel. I've been casting w/ it in the front yard & it casts a 1/2 oz practic plug a long ways w/o much of a back lash. I'm at a dilemma, since it casts great w/ no problems. But I can get a newer reel.....
  16. I have some Daiwa baitcast reels that have both of these magnetic braking systems. What's the difference, is one better than the other? I think current Daiwa baitcasters have the Mag-force Z, like the Zillion.
  17. Which of the 2 will I be able to use more different applications? Would the 7.1: 1 be too fast for most apps? If you have one, did you use mono or braid? And what pound test? The red 7.1:1 sure does look Sharp!
  18. But just different spool capacity? The spools look to be the same, just the capacity is different. Is this similar to the new Saros & Stradics, that the 2500 & 3000 are the same sized reel, but spool capacity are different?
  19. Can braided line be used w/ this rod? I've heard that the tip is fragile & that if the braid wraps around it, that it will snap the tip. Just want to know how true this is, or should I just stick using mono line w/ the Crucial rod. And if this does happen will Shimano's warranty cover it?
  20. I'm not sure if this makes a difference on how far you can cast, but does a thinner diameter or thicker diameter line makes a spool spin faster & be able to cast farther? Or will a lower mono line weight, say 10 lbs cast farther than 15 lb, or vice versa on a baitcast reel? How does Line diameter affect casting distance when braided line is used???
  21. I have the left hand version & it's a very nice reel. I got it on sale during Thanksgiving & it was 20% off $70. It casts wonderful & the mag braking does it's job really nice. Also it has a swept handle, this is a very nice touch. I thought I had to get the TDA Advantage or the Zillion to get the swept handle. It holds a very good amount of line. I had Yozuri 15 lb Hybrid, but changed it out to 40 lb braid. Making adjustments is very easy & easy to set it up the way you want. For a baitcast reel under $100 this is a winner!
  22. Since this is a smaller reel, can this be used for finesse fishing? Or is it more for heavier weight lures like 1/4 oz & over? Would you use a medium or medium light baitcast rod for finesse or lighter lures? And what length; 6'6" or 7'?
  23. Is it a shad or shiner? I snagged 4 of these big boys & caught 4 bass also. All released....one of the guys that showed up to fish the same area as me wanted to keep the fish I caught & smoke it. I don't think it's edible, but he wanted it so I gave it to him.
  24. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp;jsessionid=ZXGQ2UMW2ORWFLAQBBKSCONMCAEFMIWE?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20372&id=0053453122697a&navCount=9&podId=0053453&parentId=cat20372&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20372&hasJS=true&_requestid=119813 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0053452122696a&navCount=12&podId=0053452&parentId=cat20374&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat20374&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20374&hasJS=true I really like how these look....I gotta see them in person. I really like the price...I hope it's not a typo on Cabelas part. What they say about the rods sounds fantastic & I like the carbon handle. If the handle feels slippery, I would wrap in cloth tape, which can be changed when it craps out. I would think you will still get the sensitivity through the cloth tape, not like on a cork or EVA handle. I think Cabela's has a winner...now I just need to see the rods in person to see what it's all about.
  25. Yup, that's what I'm getting also Raul. Seems that Shimano would rather have left hand baitcasters users to jump on the Curado & Core. I understand that Shimano will be releasing a left hand Core....."yippy". That's nice, however I don't want to spend $350 for a reel. More power to those who can afford those. Twors I'm glad you got your rebate check fairly quickly. As I've dealt w/ rebate checks in the past, it takes FOREVER to get money owed to you back. It left a bad feeling for me w/ rebate checks. I think that Shimano went & got the Curado 301's out cuz of all the swim bait guys. You don't see too many "low profile" style baitcast reels for swim baits. Unless you want to fork over for the Daiwa model for swim baits & thats an import. I just don't understand for a good portion of the fishing public who would like to have quality that it has to start at $200...the Curado, before any rebates came along. I like the Citica 201, I don't like the tallness & weight it has. I prefer to have a smaller 100 series that weigh 2 oz lighter & not put a big cramp in my wallet. I know on this board & others that for someone who wants to get into a baitcast reel they want to spend under $150. The Citica 200/201 is a great deal on quality. But I'll tell you after casting the Citica 201 after an hour, I'm done w/ it...even when it's on a light baitcast rod. I'm not using the Citica for swim baits, I have outfits for those. I understand why I need heavier equipment for that type of fishing. But for normal bass fishing???? I would rather use a size 100 reel & cast comfortable all day instead of an hour.
