Shimano Cumara Spinning Rod Paint Chip
I did do an overall inspection of the Cumara rod. I mainly check if the rod is spined right & if the guides are inline. I also looked at the blank but did not notice the paint chip. The lighting insde the store wasn't all that bright, plus is was very busy inside the store. It wasn't till I got home & wiped down the rod using water & a clean cloth & really looked at the rod w/ better lighting that I saw the paint chip. I'll tell you I was upset somewhat cuz I spent that $200 & from looking at it at the store it looked perfect. I know that I've bought reels & rods, checking them out as best as possible at the store, only to find out at home that there was a flaw that I did not see or hear or feel. In regards to hearing & feeling that would be w/ reels. It feels & sounds smooth till you get it in a quiet room, like my fishing room you notice the flaw. Had that happen w/ a Shimano Stradic 2500FI reel. All seemed wonderful at the store till I tried it out at home. There I noticed that the bail arm was rough feeling & when you crank the arm, there were some rough spots. I brought that back & got the Saros 2500 & been very happy w/ that reel. I called Cabelas & they are holding another Cumara 6'8" MH spinning for me. So the one I have now is going back. Thanks guys for your help!

Shimano Cumara Spinning Rod Paint Chip
Bought a brand new 6'8" MH this afternoon at Cabelas. Real NICE, this will be great when I team it up w/ my Cumara 6'8" Med, extra fast baitcast rod. I didn't notice till I got home this evening that from the top & going down about 8" on the blank there is a small paint chip. It's less than 1/8" in length, but you can see that the upper coat of the paint is gone & the bare graphite underneath is showing. Should I be concerned about this or is there a way to fix this? Or should I just bring the rod back to Cabelas & exchange for the same rod w/o the defect?

Kistler Helium LTA 69APC
I know the newer version of the 6'9" MH is available now, the 69MHC. Would there be a very big difference from these 2 rods? I was thinking of getting the 69APC, since that is what this store has. Or is the newer 69MHC that much better than the 69APC? Are the blanks the same? Is the sensitivity still good on the older model & is this a good rod? I've asked a couple different questions about the LTA, & now I understand that there is a new model, which I didn't know about till now. I thought the 69APC was the new model, but a previous model. Those who own the 69APC, has this been a good baitcast rod for you? Thank you

Bummin' Out About The Carrot Stix...
That I STILL don't have mine! I ordered the 6'9" MH B/C & the 7' M spinning a month ago & Cabelas were suppose to be in the warehouse by 4/15. Well, no email telling me that my order was shipped, so I called Cabelas CS & found out that the Carrot Stix are to be in there warehouse by 4/23. Okay, another week of waiting....I hope those rods are worth it. Also ***.com has them on backorder till next month. I am guess the E21 can't keep up w/ the demand. I would have bought them somewhere else, but my money is tied up w/ Cabelas. Too bad BPS doesn't carry the Carrot Stix.

Optimum Poppin' Furbit
http://www.***.com/descpageOPFROG-OPPF.html I bought the black ghost & natural frog colors. I have the black ghost from TW & the other color will arrive sometime. I really like using frogs & I've been looking for a soft popper. I tried some other ones from Scumfrog & Snagproof...those soft poppers SUCKED! They would be too light to throw on a B/C setup or it just would not work or they would fill w/ water too quicly. I think I found the answer, the body is quite soft & the Owner 6/0 hook is quite sharp. This should cast well on B/C. Now I need to wait till some of the weeds start coming up to the surface...

First G-Loomis rod..... BOOO!!!!! (Updated... PLEASE HELP)
Send it back to TW & get the Okuma Guide Series. A much better swimbait rod that can double easily as a musky/pike rod. It's also a whole lot cheaper. Read the Tackle Tour review & Matt from Mattlures gave great kudos of the Okuma Guide Series on TT. I have the 7'6" heavy, 1-5 oz lure wt, w/ the split grip, very nice & has good sensitivity for a swimbait rod. I guess this could also be used for flipping. Only downside, maybe is it's 1 piece. It's not telescoping either, just a 1 piece blank. I think, you'd have to check the Okuma site or TW that the 7'11" is 1 piece also. Talk to TW & tell them you have a defective rod, I'm sure they will pay the shipping back to them.

Kistler Helium LTA Difference 2007 & 2008 B/C Rods
Besides the reel seats, are there other differences? The main thing would be, are the blanks the same or different?

Shimano Cumara Spinning Rod Question
I went ahead & ordered the 6'8" MH Cumara spinning rod. After reading your post & others on other sites, the MH would make a much better all purpose spinning rod. I have the 6'8" Med, extra fast Cumara baitcast rod, I'll soon have the Cumara spinning as well.

Forgotten Crankbait
Local fishing store has the Wee Frogs in the larger size & smaller size. I bought 1 of each, the bottom is white & the top is like a light brown/tan w/ spots. But the store did carry quite a few colors. After reading your post, I remembered this store sold them for $3.99 ea. Thought I'd give them a shot since price isn't all that much.

Shimano Cumara Spinning Rod Question
Looking at the 6'8", med, extra fast: CUSDX68M I see that it's lure rated to 3/8 oz. I would like to know if I can use this rod for more of an all purpose spinning rod. I mean using 4-5" Senkos T-rigged & wacky, drop shot, also 3/8 oz & under crankbaits & lipless cranbaits, and jigs. Will it have enough backbone for setting the hook when using Senkos? I was looking at the Cumara 6'8" MH, fast; but it felt a bit too stiff for what I am looking for. I would prefer a lure rating up to 1/2-5/8 oz so would this rod load up too much, or will it work out? You think I can also use this for dock skipping? Also wondering why the medium action Cumaras have a lower lure rating than other rods in medium action?

Great deal on Cabela's XMLTi Casting Rods
Welcome Aboard! I had the XMLti & well, I didn't like it. You see, I mainly use braided line w/ my baitcast reels & the recoil guides didn't work out for me. I bumped down & bought the XML w/ Fuji Alconite guides. These work so much better w/ braided line. So if you will be using mono or flouro line, the XMLti rod is outstanding. Great sensitivity & a great looking rod, escpecially the split grip models. Can't comment on the reel, don't have that one.

Carrot stix vs. Shimano Cumara
I'm still waiting for my b/c & spinning Carrot Stix coming from Cabelas. ETA is this week or next. I've asked this before & really haven't gotten a solid answer....where are the Carrot Stix made??? I know they come from Canada....but really???? Where are they made?

Cabelas XML Rods
Thanks guys, I bought the 6'10" MH baitcast rod & the 6'9" Medium drop shot spinning rod. I really like the looks of this rod w/ the split grip. I checked out the XMLti & wasn't all that impressed w/ the recoil guides. The XML actually looks better, wish the reel seat was of the XMLti though. Only real gripe & it's minimal is that the rod information is right on top, not on the bottom like most rods. I guess I like to have that on the bottom so I don't see it when fishing....like I really pay that much attention!

Kistler Helium LTA B/C Rod-HE69MHC
Thanks Ballistik, I thought of giving them a call tomorrow, it's just a little late to call now. So I thought I could try & get some replies from here. Now, I do have to change up a couple things from my original post. The new 2008 Fuji reel seat is the ACS. The ECS is the older Fuji reel seat. Also the price for the LTA 6'9" b/c rod is at $229, not $249; that's the price for the LTA spinning rods.

Kistler Helium LTA B/C Rod-HE69MHC
This is the 6'9", MH, 1/4-3/4 oz lure wt. Looking to buying this rod, I am thinking that this would be a good all purpose rod, what you do you guys think? Is there a technique that this rod would not be good for? Also, looking at last years model w/ last years Fuji reel seat, I think the ACS??? The 2008 model has the ECS reel seat, is there much difference in the reel seats? I know that there is a $20 price difference, $229 vs $249. Is Kistler still using the same blank from last year to this years model? Those of you using the LTA, how is the sensitivity compared to other rods you own? How would you rate this rod from 1 being poor, to 10 being best? Thanks for your help!!!

Cabelas XML Rods
Not the XMLti rods w/ the recoil guides, but the one under it w/ the Fuji Alconite guides. I like the looks of both the baitcast & spinning rods in the technique specific w/ spit grips. Any of you own the XML rods, if so how do you like it? Does it compare to other rods you own in regards to sensitivity & quality? I talked to a Cabelas sales person last week & he said that the XML will probably go on sale in the next couple weeks. So I am inquiring if you guys like this rod. I'm looking to get the 6'10" MH baitcast rod, this rod looks like it would be perfect for Bronze Eye frog & similar types of frogs. Also probably for buzzbaits & jigs...maybe Senkos too. The other one I am looking at is the 6'9" drop shot spinning rod. Thanks

Forgotten Crankbait
What colors do you use, or does color matter for this lure?

Strike king KING SHAD
Bought one in all white. I sprinkled on some glitter & added a red size 2 treble on the front & a size 2 feathered treble on back. I like the action, but it does not dive too deep, maybe up to 3'. It works pretty good twitching it as a topwater. I have to say that it does not cast that well, even though it's 1 oz. Bought it at Cabelas for $15, now they don't have that special deal. I am probably going to get the Sexy Shad color also. Something tells me that this is going to be a very good lure, it's just the time right now that it's not working. Maybe in the next few weeks when the weather warms up....

Team All Star IM10 B/C Rod
Looking to getting this rod in 6'6" MH casting. I don't see much talk about All Star rods, especially this one. Any of you guys own IM10 b/c or spinning rods? Any good?

Trilene XT Question
Looking to getting 12 lb XT for catfish & carp fishing. I may also use it for steelhead fishing & thinking of using it for trolling. I will be using a baitfeeder spinning reel. What I would like to know is does XT have much stretch, especially in the 10/12/14 lb? The reel I have will take 300 yds of 10 lb or 260 of 12 lb line. Not sure if 12 or 14 lb will come off the spool easily or will it all unwound when I cast? I haven't tried mono line in 12 or 14 lb on a baitcast reel, but the baitfeeder reel I am using has a pretty big spool. Thanks

Leader To Braid Length
I'm going to start tying a mono leader to my braided lines this year. I have always just tied lures straight from braid. So I am wondering how long to you have your leaders? I'm thinking of keeping it at a foot, so I can still get the feel when a fish hits. But if I start using mono leaders for topwater in a couple months, should I go longer on the leader or keep it at about a foot also?

Carrot Stix-Still Waitiing
Ordered the LTX in 6'9" MH casting & 7' Med spinning from Cabelas a couple weeks ago at the Hammond, IN store. Haven't heard anything from Cabelas so I called them & customer service says that they "should" be getting a shipment of Carrot Stix by 4/11. Oh great a month of waiting to get these rods, I just hope it's worth the wait. I'm almost tempted to cancel the order & get something else, but what??? I guess I'll wait till mid April & see if Cabelas can deliver, if not then I'll look at other rods, or somehow get my money back. Shheeeshh, all this waiting for a couple rods...

Shimano Saros
Who owns one & how do you like it? I'm thinking of getting the 2500 for bass fishing.
