  1. I bought a couple packs of them last year. I use them split shot style with a smaller hook on a shallow local lake. I do decent, but am not sure if it is the coffee, or it is new to the fish there. Poor boys tubes are the shizzle though.
  2. Check around on different sites for the best price. I don't know if they go on sale, but they did drop the price of their rods this year. I think by 20 bucks.
  3. Thanks guys I have a 5'6 lightning rod my son uses and he doesn't like the pistol grip. I have a broken Triumph that I have kept for some odd reason and just wanted to know if I could kill two birds w one stone.
  4. I can't spend over $150 for a rod, but these are my favorites. Cheap- 6'6"Ugly Stik lite, 7' Guide Series BC Not Cheap-St. Croix Avids, Falcon Lowrider XG's
  5. I have a St. Croix rod that I broke when I set the hook on a rock, I made that rock cross-eyed, but it blew the rod up. I tried returning it, but I didn't have the receipt. I sent it back and St. Croix promptly sent to me. What I wanted to know is can I salvage the handle and reel seat? I have a pistol grip rod that I can't stand, and wanted to put it on that one. I have been wanting to try it for a year now, and didn't want to ruin it.
  6. I haven't used a Daiwa antything yet. I do plan on picking up a Zillion soon though. For 100-150 bucks zone you should check out Falcon Lowrider XG's. They are great rods, made in the U.S., light enough, sensitive, and have just about every type of application available. I beleive all of the rods are under $150. St. Croix Avids are sexy rods also, but cost $150 -180. Hope this helps.
  7. CLP is like Frank's Red Hot, I put that Stuff on everything. But if there isn't carbon or rust on it, it really doesn't have a purpose. Have you put WD40 on your reels before? If you did, did it work? If it did the CLP will work too.
  8. I have a couple of both. For me the drag on the stx is better, but the difference is minimal to me and started buying the sx's only.
  9. I've looked and the quickest I can find is a 6,3:1 Does anyone make a burner for round reels? Or can I make one I already have a burner?
  10. What's your price range, and how many are you buying?

I like the zipper worms, I think Roboworms makes them.
  12. Falcons listed dropshot rod is a light action with a fast tip. I would definitely check it out before buying. I love these rods but think that may be too light. I use an Avid 6'8" MXF for dropshot, but that's just me. Try checking out this rod. LFS-4-1610 it's a 6'10" MF.
  13. Nice work, I fish jigs, tubes, senkos, and spinnerbaits. Do you have a web site, or ebay? Or do you just sell them here?
  14. We're forgetting to add about five rods to this, so we can give him rod A.D.D. ;D
  15. I think any decent rod between 6'6 and 7" MH F or XF would work fine as an all around rod. It just depends on how much $ you want to spend. I just put MH down because that is what I prefer. A solid M action rod would probably work also.
  16. I love the lowriders, They are sensitive, well balanced, and for the price are a great deal. I have a 7" crankbait rod, and two 7'6" M's. I had another one, but a paint can broke it. I've been alternating between buying Avids and lowriders, but if my hours keep getting cut I'll have no problem saving $50 or so bucks for a good rod. If you don't like your rod let me know, cause I like mine.
  17. The Revo is awesome. I have the S, SX, and STX. I son't have any Daiwa reels, but haven't heard anything but good about them. The only thing I wish Abu Garcia would do is make them able to swap reels out like shimano.
  18. Up here the $50 All Stars are called the Select. I have 3 of them and are great rods. Better than a lighnting rod, Ugly stik.
  19. I fish either from a kayak and from the bank, nad every once and awhile I get my buddy to take me out on his boat. If the bite got slow that is my first choice. I use a 7'6" spinning rod, it helps with the leverage and you can cast it a little farther. As for weights, I started out using a egg weight. I tied my hook on ( look up how to do if you don't know yet) and then about a foot down put on a barrel swivel. Then I tied a leader with 4lb. test ( The lighter the better) then at the end of the leader I tied the sinker on. The light pound test was easier to break of if it got hung up, and I would have to only tie on a sinker instead of the whole rig. Then one day I was at BPS and saw that they make a dropshot weight. It seemed gimmicky, but it works great. The weight has an eyelet that comes out if it gets hung up. I know my method sounds a little hokey, but it worked for me. Hope this helps.
  20. I had 2 Falcon lowriders last yr. But I left 1 of them in the back of my truck with a can of paint, and the paint can won. Seriously though, you cannot go wrong with them. They are light, sensitive, and can handle the nastiest of hooksets. Just don't leave them alone with cans of paint.
  21. As far as round reels I have a St. Croix Avid AC200, I love this reel. I also have two Lew's Round reels which are nice too. I can cast far and the gear ratio is slow when using crankers. As far as Low Pros All I own are Revos. I go to the store looking for a new/better one, and buy another one. ;D
  22. The new Pfleuger looks sexy, I must add.
  23. A little bias never hurt nobody. Thanks for the help
