  1. 4 baitcasters, 2 spinning = 6. That's all I can manage in my boat with no locker. If I'm fishing with a partner I'll scale back a bit to 3 BC, 1 spin to make room.
  2. 1) Flipping - See T-Rig 2) Carolina rig - none 3) Spinnerbait - mbr783c IMX, Curado e7, 12# Yozuri 4) Frogging - none 5) Drop shotting - Carbonliet 6'6" MF, Pflueger Supreme 8030mg, 6# Yozuri 6) Shaky head - Same as Drop Shot 7) Swimbait - none 8) Crankbait - cbr845, Citica 200e, 12# floro (TBD) 9) Weightless plasics - Same as T-Rig 10) Jig fishing - mbr784c IMX, Curado e7, 40# braid (TBD) 11) Texas rig - bcr803c GLX, Curado e7, 12# floro (TBD) Looking for a 2nd spinning rod for the lighter cranks and tubes.
  3. I need a medium power fast action spinning rod for throwing tubes and small jigs (1/8, 3/16 oz) mostly for smallmouth. May serve as a walleye rod on the rare occassions I target the eyes. I like what I read about the Loomis SJR782 IMX. I'll probably be looking to buy used or make a trade in the $150 range. Any ideas or suggestions out there?
  4. Thanks for the info everyone. I think I'll try braid (that Suffix 832 looks promising) for Jigging where there's not too much slack line and some kind of Floro for the Senkos and maybe T-Rigs. I can always add a leader if I need to on the Jig rig.
  5. Well I reckon it's time to go braid with floro leaders. What length leaders do you all leave? Does it go throught the rod eyes smoothly?
  6. That's a tough lake for Bass. Lots of crappie and catfish though.
  7. Bryan here from southwest OH. I fish mostly Brookville lake in Indiana and Rocky Fork, Paint Creek, and East Fork in OH. Fishing from a 16' Alumacraft with a 35 HP Merc.
  8. If you had some nice polarized sunglasses on you could have watched them fall even longer without all that glare...
  9. I fish the XRap fairly quickly so have never noticed if they truly suspend or not - it's certainly close. Have caught many quality fish. Haven't fished pointers yet although i picked up a couple for this year.
  10. XRaps but this year trying the Pointers as well.
  11. 1/16 oz leadhead with a twin tail (BPS) green grub on 4# mono light or ultralight spinning gear. Loads of fun!
  12. I caught a bunch of ladyfish in the Destin surf last August on bubble straw rigs. You can get them at BPS in Destin or any good tacle shop. Fill the bubble half way with water, toss out, pop (causing nice chug) and the fish think there's a feeding frenzy they are missing out on and they go ape nuts. It's insanely fun but the fish aren't good eaters. 24 to 36" and real fighters. Caught some nice bluefish as well. We chartered a boat for red snapper and that was a blast as well. Very good eaters there... Also - king mackerels from the pier but hard to say what's running in May. Have fun!
  13. Well I like bass fishing quite a bit but here are few things almost as good as a good day bass fishing: - a bad day bass fishing - crappie fishing - catfishing - camping - hiking - wood working - gardening
  14. Well I stand corrected on the trick worms. I bought them for the first time this year thinking they float but a quick sink test confirms what J Francho said - "Trick worms DO NOT float". Reckon I need to pick up some roboworms...
  15. Citica is a great reel for a $100 but the Curado 200 E7 is even better for $150 on ebay. A good quality reel is really helpful for learning. A cheapy will only frustrate you more.
  16. I picked up a few at BPS because I needed a few different colors for sprint fishing. And also BPS has them on sale. Decent crank for a decent price.
  17. I fish a small pond with nice bass in it from time to time and what I've found is a plastic worm will catch the big ones without spooking the whole pond.
  18. zoom trick worms and they're on sale at BPS
  19. I had 4 bluebirds pecking at a tube in the snow. I'd pop it up and they'd attack it. Pretty sure the reel is fine...
  20. I sure like the carbonlite spinning rod I picked up. Of course I've yet to hit the lake (water still pretty hard here)...
  21. If you watch the flea market or ebay you can find a Curado e7 or e5 for about $145 including shipping. PQ is decent but curado is really sweet. I'd suggest a citica (less than $100 if you are patient...) over PQ if money is the issue.
  22. To get started here's what I'd recommend: - Good fishing line - 8-10 lb Trilene XL or 6# Yozuri Hybrid Ultrasoft - 5" Senkos or BPS Stiko with some 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu hooks. Natural colors like watermelon or junebug. - 6" or 7" worms - I like Culprits in natural colors but any will work just fine. Get some bullet weights - as ligt as you can get by with (1/8 - 1/4 oz). - 1/4 Oz spinnerbaits (Terminator T1) in shad color - Jerkbaits (Rapala xRap or Lucky Craft Pointer 100) in shad colors - Get some crankbaits in various depths. I like Rapala Shad Raps, DT, and Lucky Craft if you can swing it (I can't generally). - ***.com is your friend as is the flea market on this site. The bait monkey pretends to be your friend but he's not. - Get a soft-sided tackle bag from BPS that comes with 360 or 370 style boxes to keep it all organized. - Get another combo - better to use Medium action for cranks and Medium Heavy for plastics. Best of luck!
  23. I'm glad it's not just me. I've tried about every solution out there and still I am not very happy. I'm currently using the Falcon FTO spinnerbait / buzzbait box and it's ok but not great IMHO. The skirts interfere and sometimes get ripped when getting a bait out. Been thinking about trying a worm binder with the sealable bags....
