  1. Doesn't say much for the state record...just 12 ounces? LOL that was a good one.
  2. Welcome to the board from Harrison OH...
  3. I tried braid for a while and kind of liked it. The sensitivity is awesome but I struggled with the hooksets. I was used to mono and it's easy to break hooks (or rods I suppose) if you aren't careful. I've heard people say that braid is too visible and maybe that's true but I caught a bunch of bass on it. Now I use Yozuri hybris 12# and I do like that a lot. But braid is definitely more sensitive...
  4. I sure like my 7MH Mojo Spinnerbait rod. Haven't caught that many bass on it yet (jerks are hot for me now...) but it sure cast nicely. Thought it was a bit heavy for 1/4 oz SBs but they load the rod up nicely.
  5. I've only broken one while fishing and that was sight fishing a catfish with ultralight. Yeah that was a bad idea. I was actually fishing for bluegill when I spotted this cat and for some stupid reason set the hook like I had a heavy action rod... I'd suggest setting your drag right especially with braid or floro.
  6. For me it's mostly gatorade or water but I do have a tupperware container of Vienna Sausage, Potted Meat and crackers. The stuff lasts all season unopened and is tasty too.
  7. Rocky Fork is a nice bass lake - not sure why that one didn't make the lisit. I like in Harrison and normall fish Brookville Lake - by boat though. On Thursday I fished Brookville from 2:30PM to 7:30PM and caught 6 decent bass - 2 over 3lb... I'm heading there again in just a few minutes. I think there are several shoreline areas accessible by the causeways and by the dam. Good luck!
  8. I have a 70MHF Premier and like it a lot. It does great with cranks, traps, jerks, senkos, and even light spinnerbaits. They normally run $110 I think.
  9. Here in Ohio I've convinced a few short bass to bite a 1/4 oz spinnerbait and a chrome rat-L-trap (fished pretty fast). Nothing big but it's nice to catch bass again...
  10. Watch ebay for Curado 200e - got mine for $155 including shipping.
  11. I have both and while I prefer the Curado for light cranks and for the fast ratio. The Citica is a very nice real though so it mostly comes down to the $50. If you can find the $$ go for the Curado. Best of luck...
  12. I picked up one for spinnerbaits and I like it for the money. I would definitely prefer a crucial but it was another $50 or $60 bucks. Not sure if I like the split grip or not...
  13. I'm relatively new to BC, am RH and have all RH BCs. I cast 2 handed most of the time and have trained my left thumb to feather the spool. This allows me to keep my left hand in place the whole time amd move my right hand up just a bit for the crankin. I'm betting this is extra work casting with both hands but I don't get tired and the accuracy is decent enough. It seems to work for me but I'm always open to better ideas... Except swithcing to LH BC...
  14. 1) Shimano Citica 200e (ok maybe the Curado...) 2) Hook
  15. I love Terminator spinners but this year, in addition I'm trying some War Eagle and Booyah. I'm betting it has more to do with level of confidence and skill than brand of SB (across the major brands).
  16. The Berkley Blade Dancer doesn't work. I say that but I felt so silly fishing that thing I didn't try that much. I've also struggled with buzz baits quite a bit. I probably don't fish them at the right times or my technique is jacked - or both.
  17. On a medium power fast action rod you can throw light spinnerbaits (1/4 oz) and cranks. Go for both! I love the 1/4 oz Terminator spinnerbaits in a shad color. As far as cranks go - I like the rebel crawdad (got some in med and deep) in the spring. I like spinnerbaits because they are pretty weedless, are versatile and catch a lot of fish. Best of luck!

  19. Welcome to the forum - you'll like it here. I have a 1985 16' Fisher alum. with a 35HP merc. I paid $1500 for the whole thing so I know about budget fishing. Works for my purpose (at least for one more year...). Best of luck!
  20. Welcome to the forum - you'll like it here. And welcome back to bass fishing!
