W+M Skeet Reese rod VS. Bass Pro Shops CarbonLite rod
I was looking for a spinning rod for tubes and trick worms last night at BPS. The Skeet Reese rods are very nice and light but the actions are listed as Moderate I think and they felt soft. I tried the CarbonLite (6'6" MF) and it felt perfect. I looped a tube through the guides to feel how it loaded up and it's about perfect - esp. for $70!

spincast reels
At age 7 have you considered teaching him to use a spinning reel with light line? He should pick it up pretty quickly with your help... Just a thought.

Best fishing line?
Ineedanewscreenname20170204 replied to longhorn_basser's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsLast year I took RW's advice on 12# yozuri ultrasoft for BC and it has worked out nicely for me. I do use some KVD line conditioner and it takes care of the little bit of memory the line has.

Citica E for Crankin
My citica 200e is mounted on my BPS Extreme CB7MF rod and works fine for deep cranks. It's my backup jerkbait rod as well (Curado 200e7/St. Croix Premiere 7MF is primary jerkbait combo). 12# YZ Ultrasoft line...

St. Croix Mojo Bass Rod
I have the 7MHF spinnerbait Mojo Bass and like it. I'd prefer a CS but not for $50 more. Mojos feel a bit heavy to me and aren't exceptionally sensitive but a decent rod for $100. I like teh St. Croix premieres as well and they are in the same price range. Compare Mojo Bass to Premiere, not to CS.

Best line for jig / worm fishing
Ineedanewscreenname20170204 replied to Ineedanewscreenname20170204's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsYeah I think I'm sticking with Yozuri Ultrasoft for all my baitcasting setups. Mostly 12# but 6# for one finesse combo.

1990 16 ft. Pro-Craft Bass Boat
My 1985 16' Fisher 35HP Merc will hold max 2 people bass fishing and maybe 3 crappie fishing but it would be tight and semi-dangerous. I paid $1,500 but it needed some work. Keep in mind that it's hard to find (around here anyway) help mechanics to work on the motor. Most reputable shops will not work on 20 yr old motors.

citrus sticks???
What materials are used in the blanks?

Best line for jig / worm fishing
I use Yozuri UltraSoft for all my BC fishing and it seems to work just fine. I've never used 100% fluoro. Is is THAT much better (esp. in terms of sensitivity)? I've used braid and the sensitivity is incredible but the visibility is an issue in clear water. I prefer to avoid the braid / fluoro leader madness. Should I stay with Yozuri, go with fluoro or with braid?

citrus sticks???
They look a lot like the carrot stix and are very light according to the site. For the money I'd have to stick with brands I know and like. Nathan - have you met Clay Dyer?

What type of line should I use.
It's really hard to beat Trilene XL for spinning - 8 or 10lb

plastics storage
BPS Finesse binder - works well for me but I miss not having original package...

Nice pics guys! My collection is meager by comparison but it work fine for me - can't fit more on my 16' bass boat's deck anyway... Am in the market for another citica 200 E5...

What type of line should I use.
Yozuri Hybrid Ultrasoft 12# (for baitcast)

Limpest monofilament?
Trilene XL is an eXtreme Limp mono and generally a real fine line. Not as tough as some but is very easy casting on spinning gear...

Which IMX for worm/jig?
Ineedanewscreenname20170204 replied to Ineedanewscreenname20170204's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsThanks for all the advice. I decided to go with 2 IMXs (mbr783c, mbr784c). I found a deal I couldn't pass up even though I marginally prefer 7 ft rods in general. These are mostly for closer pinpoint casts to shoreline cover. Someday when my skill catches up to the equipment I may have to upgrade to the GLX - until then I'm sure I'll like the IMX rods and the other lesser rods in my arsenal.
