  1. Nice rack! For once that shouldn't get me slapped...
  2. I'm 43 and don't have any real issues yet with my health but I know they're on the way. I commend you guys with physical limitations who still find a way to get out there and fish - you're an encouragement to me. Keep on keepin on guys!
  3. Both are really nice reels. I have a Pro Qualifier reel and love it but parts are hard to come by I think. The new Citicas get really great reviews - I'd have to get that new Citica if it were me. You can get the Citica online for $105 shipped which comes out basically the same price as a ProQ. Best of luck.
  4. I'd recommend Light over UltraLight spinning gear with 4# Trilene XL. A 5" - 5'6" rod should do it. BPS has a Wally Marshall rod that I love. They are on sale now for $30 - $35. Not St. Croix but nice rods for the money.
  5. Just recieved my Falcon FTO Elite 803 Spinnerbait & Buzzbait from TacklWarehouse and it seems to be a great choice. Now just waiting for spring... Thanks!
  6. 5" weightless senko - be very, very quiet and fish it slowly with light line.
  7. I've caught lots of bass on Rebel crawdad in the spring. I cast them tight to shore and keep them in contact with the bottom. The hooks foul up often and you have to untangle them but it's a great bait. I've got a buch of them to cover different depths and in different colors. Best of luck.
  8. I line in Harrison OH and Brookville is my closest lake. I normally launch at Hanna creek and usually stay north of there. I catch a lot of LM on senkos pitched to big laydowns in the coves (big/small Elly) in the spring. I catch a fair number on 1/4oz shad color spinnerbait. When the bass aren't hitting I will sometimes switch to crappie or walleye. Usually catch several fish but not many over 3 pounds... Good luck!
  9. I can't wait much longer. I have a tiny garden pond in my yard that just thawed and I've been practicing my pitching. My neighbors think I'm insane. Maybe I am...
  10. Depending on your budget the Mojo Bass ($90) and the Premier ($110) are nice rods for hte money. The Avids are real nice though...
  11. I can get by with 4 (for Bass fishing) 1 - Worm/jig 7' MH (or St. Croix M) BC 2 - Spinnerbait/buzzbait (3/8, 1/2oz) - 7' MHF BC 3 - Jig - 7' MHF BC 4 - Crankbait - 7'MM BC I like to include a couple others: 5 - Light crankbait/spinnerbait (1/4oz) - 6'6" MF BC 6 - Finesse plastics - 7' M Moderate action Spinning
  12. It's more about the line and the rod. I'm using Medium action St. Croix Premier and can easily throw a 5" senko and even lighter. Last year I used 12# Trilene XL but this year will try some p-line fluorocarbon. That said, I'm thinking about picking up a BPS ProLite for the light balsa cranks that I can only cast on spinning gear - so far... Best of luck.
  13. I have a Bionic Blade, and Extreme and a ProQ and love them all. I'd wait for the BPS Spring Classic and pick up an Extreme - they are great, low cost rods on sale. The power hump - I like it a lot. I'd get soemthing at least BB or better. Just my opinion.
  14. 12# Trilene XL - best mono out there... Intend to try out some p-line fluorocarbon this year though and some YoZuri hybrid...
  15. I picked up a BPS Pro Qualifier Limited a couple yearts ago at Christmas time for $70. I didn't realize what a deal it was or I would have picked up a couple more. So I think the BPS reels (Extreme and up) are solid. I think parts are hard to find after a year or 2. Other than That I love my Revo SX. After doing a bunch of research I'm going to pick up a couple Curado 200e7 reels on ebay. Best of luck!
  16. St. Croix rods are heavier than most so a MH is pretty stiff. Check the lure weight rating to be sure your texas rigs aren't too light. I picked up an Avid 66MHF (3/8 - 1oz) and it was a little stiff for my purposes so I returned it for a MF - much better for me. They are sweet rods for sure. I'd suggest the Shimano Citica 200e or better yet Curado 200e ($155 shipped from ebay) vs the Record - just my opinion though. Good luck!
  17. I throw mostly 1/4 and 3/8 oz spinnerbaits and am looking for a suitable 7' rod for my (coming soon...) Curado 200e7. I am confused on what power and action I should be looking for. My price range is roughly in the $150 - $200 range. I'm thinking 14# YoZuri hybrid line would be good but I don't really know what's best. I'd appreciate any advice I can get from you guys...
  18. I fish stumps for crappies with 4# mono. Mostly 1/16 oz jigs. I catch a lot more with light line in the clear water I fish so I just deal with a few breakoffs... The jigs cast a lot better with lighter line too...
  19. The guy behind the counter at BPS told me yesterday that the PQ reels won't be on sale in the Classic. Don't know about combos. Have you checked out the Citicas? They are $20 more but are getting great reviews (and you can get parts if you need them...).
  20. Thanks to everyone that posted. I ended up buying a St. Croix Avid (AVC66MHF). It seems like a sweet rod for worm fishing - we'll see in a few weeks when the water gets soft again in my area...
  21. I love to Texas Rig and am looking for a good rod to match up with my Revo SX for (mostly) worm and jig fishing. I throw a lot of weightless senkos and flukes and some pegged texas rigs. My budget for this rod is around $200. In my initial research I found a G. Loomis BCR803 MossyBack Jig and Worm Rod. The rod gets decent reviews but I'd like to know what you guys think of this rod and any other rod worth consideration. Also I'm thinking 14 fluorocarbon would be good for worm fishing. Am I on the right track?
  22. I've fished quite a bit at East Fork. It's a tough bass lake for me. There's a lot of fishing pressure and much of the lake sees a lot of pleasure boating. Fairly good crappie and a ton of channel cats. There have been days where I caught more channel cats bass fishing than bass. Spring up the main creek channel is good for hybrid stripers (not more than 4 or 5 pounds at the lake typically). Good luck...
  23. T-bone - I just checked out the Falcon boxes online and they do look great. I'll have to add that to my BPS list... Thanks!
  24. I've been using Plano spinnerbait (3600 size) boxes for a year or so now and they work ok for 1/4oz spinners but not the bigger sizes. I've looked at a couple different binders (BPS/Cabellas) but haven't been sold yet. Cabellas hasa TUB solution that appears to be some kind of binder in the 3600 or 3700 size to fit in with most soft tackle bags. Is there a great solution out there that I just haven't stumbled across yet? what are you guys using for spinnerbait and/or buzzbait storage?
  25. Caught a condom in the Ohio river when I was a kid. Didn't enjoy getting it off the hook...
