When are you concidered a pro
my BOLD statement was a quote from Matt Fly Which I dont agree with.
-
When are you concidered a pro
fishfordollars what are you talking about, im agreeing with you. I was responding to what Matt Fly said. I agree completely with what you said and it is the best way to look at it. Matt Fly said "I don't think money plays into bass fishing. Anyone can be sponsored and don't have to be a touring pro. What makes you a professional in other sports? when an amatuer no longer competes purely for the cometition of it and steps to the next level to compete for money. I'd have to say that becoming a pro is fishing against the same level of competion. I could be a professional guide, but that don't make me even close to a professional bass fishermen. Your not a Pro at the college level. Amatuer events in our area don't ask if you fished against so and so, its based on the cost of entry fee to determine if your PRO or not. Example: If you have fished more than 3 events with an entry fee of more than 2500.oo, you are considered a pro and can't fish our amatuer trails. Just how many bass trails do you know of with entries over a couple thousand dollars?"

When are you concidered a pro
see I disagree with a few of the post. because i fish here in florida where I enter tournaments all the time along with people witht he names of Terry Scroggins, Brian Hugdens and, Preston Clark, and other guys have have fished the elites and FLW tour. but they are allowed to fish and are clearly Pros, so where do you draw the line?

SO lets see who this should be legal?
I feel neither way, but the question was regarding the use of a mechanical devices to help them catch there fish they put out ahead of time. I dont see a difference between this and the question earlier about put out brush piles.

http://flwserieswest.flwoutdoors.com/tournament.cfm?cid=11&did=3&t=news&tday=3&atype=6&tid=6500&tyear=2010&aid=151141 And speaking of machines, Davis acknowledged that the secret to his success has been, well, a machine. According to Davis, about three weeks ago, he began constructing a homemade contraption consisting of a ...series of pulleys, winches and assorted ropes in an effort to help him get his boat in a few secretive backwater areas of the California Delta. Assisting him in his efforts was Leon Knight, who not coincidentally sits in second place overall in the pro standings. We've worked on this on and off for about three weeks, said Davis. But today we had a total mechanical failure (with the contraption). Because of that it took us about an extra hour to get into our spot. I don't think we got into our spot until about 10 a.m. today and because of the tides we only had two hours to fish. We knew we had to get out of there at noon or it would have been trouble. While Davis wouldn't get too specific, the entrance to his primary fishing location is filled with debris and obviously extremely shallow. And with low tides, entering is nearly impossible.See More

So today I learned what Pro Staffer and Field Staffer meant
Here is how I would go about it, find people you TRUST can not only fish your lure with some success but can go to local businesses, tackle shops and individuals and sell the lure to them by talking intelligently and professionally about your lures. At the same time these have to be people who will act in a professional manner when they are around the people they are trying to sell too, including on the water. I had a pro staff director who I met with a couple weeks ago say it bluntly, I don't care if you catch another fish in the tournaments you represent me in. but never go on the stage and say any thing bad about the brand other people or any thing that could turn people off of the brand if you do that I don't need you.. Hope this helps.

Planting brush piles before a tournament...
I dont disagree that it should be out lawed but its not. and every one else in the field could have found the brush piles, however he did have an advantage.
-
What kind of boat did you fish your first....
my granddads 1990 Gamber intimidator, I want to say he won and I was in like 5th or 6th. but thats back when i was 11 or so.

BBZ 1 Shad Slow Sink
the fast sink is better according to my sources. they just give them a nice slow retrieve.
-
Planting brush piles before a tournament...
in some states its illegal but if this is not the case I have not issue with it at all.
-
Planting brush piles before a tournament...
I see it as smart, its not in the rules, he thought it would work and it did I dont think people should get mad at him but rather praise him or at least give him the props he deserves for finding/ creating a working pattern.
