  1. Haha, I should have known somebody would have that combo! To me it looks like a combo meant for midgets from the chocolate factory, if you know what I mean. Although I will say it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks are important to. I have a 6'8" MXF Legend tournament spinning, and I have a Pflueger Supreme XT coming for it. The subtle yellow accents on the rod really go well with the reel. I think I've spent a good hour of my life drooling over the combo in different stores.
  2. Just out of curiousity? Do you need your rod/reel to match? Maybe not to a T, but at least somewhat. Some combos would just look too ugly for me to use...something like a Carrot Stix and a Curado E. I, for one, prefer that my combos look good together. Not really sure why because when it comes to gear all that matters is functionality.
  3. In that price range I would also check out a Fenwick HMG. Lifetime warranty and super light and sensitive. Lots of good choices in that price range though.
  4. The value of the Mojo rods are great, I just don't know if I should step up to the Avid or not. I would like to go as cheap as possible, but don't want to regret not spending the extra cash on a better rod.
  5. Care to elaborate? I may end up getting both of them, but would like to know the pros and cons of each.
  6. Has anyone used either of these reels? They both retail for around $120 and I can get them for around $75. I've handled the Asaro in store and it feels really nice, but have never seen the Daiwa. Any reason to pick one over the other?
  7. I agree, the GL2 Series are not the greatest rods. IMO, they have the price tag because of the name, not the quality or performance. If I were you I would go with a St. Croix Avid. If you figured the same rod specifications, you would pay around $160, take the $70 bucks off and you're down to $90 for a very nice rod.
  8. Anyone used one yet? I'm going to be getting a couple rods in the next few weeks and don't know what I want yet. The two rods I'm looking at are a 6'9" MLXF and a 6'8" or 6'3" MXF. I'm wanting one rod for senkos and the other for shakey head and drop shotting. I'm planning on getting one in a Mojo and one in the Legend Tournament. I just don't know which rod I should get in which series. I fish walleyes too so I'm thinking I may put more money into the MXF as it would double as a walleye jigging rod. What are your recommendations?
  9. Does anyone know of the Japanese version of the Curado is maroon? I thought I heard that, but I'm japantackle.com isn't working for me. I've been thinking that the Revo Winch might the one.
  10. I need a crankbait reel for my CBR845. I would go with a Curado, but d**n that thing is ugly. I'm looking to spend up to $200, but would rather keep it in the $150 range. Should I go with a 5.X:1, or would I be fine with a 6.3ish:1?
  11. Anyone see a problem using a musky rod for swimbaits on bass? I have a 7' MH that handles 3/4 - 3 oz. baits and 15-30 lb line. It seems like the same specs that a lot of dedicated swimbait rods?
  12. Other than the length issue, this rod should fish topwater fine? I'm not real familiar with any rod specifications for this technique.
  13. I've fished all my life, but just started to take it more seriously. I've never used a baitcaster in my life, but over the winter picked up a 6'6" MHF Fenwick HMG for $70, and a CBR845 for $125. I figured they were both good enough deals that I should try them out...too hard to pass up, ya know? Anyways, the CBR will be my CB rod for both bass and walleye, but I'm wondering how light of lures I can go? I like to throw Rapala's and smaller Salmo's for walleye and sometimes bass, but these are really lightweight cranks. Will this rod throw 1/4 oz baits? I'm also wondering how this rod will work for other tactics: topwater, jerkbaits, etc.?
