  1. Well I was swapping reels around today and I think I found my new favorite. I haven't had a chance to use it yet(3" of ice now), but it balances perfectly and is very light. Even my fiance commented on how light it was and she knows absolutely nothing about fishing. Anyways, here's a pic...
  2. ...or maybe I can. Pictures are off of my fiance's cheap camera. I really need to get a decent camera one of these days.
  3. Well I can't leave a fan with that crappy pic...
  4. I would post my tackle, but I'm almost embarassed to show how many soft plastics I have. I'm afraid someone would ask questions about some of them and I've only used about 10% of them, haha. d**n bargain bins, how can you say no to $1 Yum Dingers or $2 Rage Tail baits?
  5. This is what I have as of today. These pretty much cover everything I need, but as you can see, I have some more shopping to do. Spinning: Shimano Sahara 2500, Shimano Clarus 7' MF Pflueger Supreme XT 9030, St. Croix Legend Tournament 6'8" MXF Needs a reel(Daiwa Exceller?), St. Croix Mojo 6'9" MLXF Casting: Daiwa Feugo, Needs Rod(G. Loomis MBR844 or BCR854 hopefully) Shimano Curado CU200, Shimano Clarus 6'6" MHF Daiwa Black Widow II, Lamiglas Excel 7'3" MHF Abu Garcia Revo STX, Fenwick HMG 7' MHF Abu Garcia Revo Premier, Fenwick HMG 6'6" MHF Daiwa Sol, G. Loomis CBR845 Hope to add a couple more next year. I'll probably put the Fuego on one of the HMG's(colors gotta match, right?) and put the Premier on whichever Loomis jig rod I decide on to keep the setup as lightweight as possible. You may have noticed I like to match my combo's. I know it's not important to some people, but to gear enthusiasts it makes all the difference in the world. I probably spend as much time staring at my equipment as I do fishing. Steezy, post your pics up man! Don't let a few jealous members deprive the rest of us of that joy.
  6. I used to work at Sportsmans Warehouse and snagged a few good deals from there. Got them on sale + employee discount, and proformed the St. Croixs. Loomis CBR845 for $145 2 Daiwa Sols, 1 was $130 and the other $110 Fenwick HMG 6'6" MH $70 St. Croix LTB 6'8" MXF spinning $105 St. Croix Mojo 6'9" MLXF spinning $40 Those are the deals on equipment. Now if we are talking lures, I'd say 90% of my tackle was reduced price of some sort. I'm a bargain hunter, hardly ever pay full price for anything.
  7. I agree. I own the 68MXF in spinnging, and it's great for weightless plastics, but I don't think I would want to use it for jigs.
  8. St. Croix Legend Tournament 6'8" MXF Pflueger Supreme XT 9030 P-Line CXX 8# Use this for all weightless plastics as well as shakeyhead fishing. Crosses over very well for walleye jigging.
  9. Anyone have any opinions on these rod. I'm looking for a new t-rig and jig rod. Kistler is a 6'9" rated 1/4 to 3/4, and the Allstar is a 6'6" rated 3/8 to 1 oz. I can get them both within $10 of each other so that's not much of an issue. Leaning towards the Kistler because I already have an HMG with the same specs as the Allstar, but wanted opinions of those who have used either.
  10. I also have two different rods for those applications. Finesse: St. Croix Legend Tournament 6'8" MXF Pflueger Supreme XT 30 Worms: Fenwick HMG 6'6" Daiwa Black Widow II Hope to upgrade the worm rod to a BCR803 with a Revo STX.
  11. I use large ZipLoc bags. I can label them with a sharpie and they are cheap if you ever need to add extras.
  12. Cabela's in Rogers has them. Was just there on Saturday and they had some, not a lot, but some. I've also come across them for sale on the clearance racks every once in a while for $1.76.
  13. I'm pretty sure that's not what it is. The picture looks like the claws are some type of spinner. It's an interesting looking bait.
  14. I just keep them in their original bags. Like many, I have too many plastics to keep in trays anyways, so I use large ziplock bags and just throw the original bag in them and sort them that way. This way is the easiest I have found, and frees up a lot of space in my tackle box.
  15. The mojos also offer actions not available in the Premiers. There is no 6'8" MXF or 6'9"MLXF, etc. in the Premier line as far as I know. Components are the same though.
  16. For that range I would go with a Fenwick HMG. I have the 6'6" MH trigger rod and absolutely love it. I've read replies saying some people think it is comparable or better than the Avids, but I've never used an Avid so I can't make that claim. I have no problem recommending these rods and will likely buy more in the future.
  17. I would go with a Fenwick HMX ($80) and a Shimano Sedona or Pflueger President ($60-70).
  18. I've never used one, but for the price they charge I can't believe no one has mentioned a Steez. Maybe they aren't that great? Like I said, I've never used one, but for that price you would think it would be so sensitive it would catch fish for you.
  19. G Loomis CBR845 with a Daiwa Sol. 12# Pline Evolution.
  20. Some people will say you want an extra fast tip, while others say you need moderate. I personally have the extra fast. Unfortunately, the only way to tell which action you like better is to either borrow somebody elses', or buy 'em both.
  21. I don't do a ton of deep crankin, most is limited to less than 12 ft. The reason I have the MH instead of a M is that again, I got a great deal on the rod, $120. I haven't used it yet, but I'm hoping it does what I want it to. I'm glad to hear that the Sol throws lighter baits well, as I would like to throw some 1/4 oz cranks. I know the real is a little heavy for that, but I'm hoping it works alright.
  22. I'm going with either 10 or 12# line, not sure which yet.
  23. I just got an awesome deal on a Daiwa Sol from Sportsmans Warehouse, $128. I was planning on buying it and selling it on ebay, but after getting it home I'm not sure anymore. Thing is, I need a reel for my CBR845. I figured the 5.8:1 would be good for cranking, but I read a review on tackletour and they said it wasn't really suited for this duty, it is more of a finesse reel. What are your guys' opinions? It looks and feels amazing on the rod...then again I could probably make $70-80 by selling it. Free money is good too.
  24. Anyone used this stuff? I can get a pretty good deal on it at work and was thinking about buying a spool of it. I'm planning on putting it on two of my rods, a CBR845 and a 6'6" Fenwick HMG Casting. The CBR obviously for cranks, and the HMG for jigs/worms/spinnerbaits. Is a copoly a good idea for this type of fishing?
  25. Well said, exactly how I feel about it.
