Yo-Zuri Hybrid
I get where you are coming from as far as downsizing is concerned. However it already carries a smaller diameter than other lines. I would stick with 6lb. I downsized from 8 to 6, but I just can't make myself go lower than 6. Regardless of the actual breaking strength.

Ultralight baitcasting setup?
I've been using a BPS Pro Light Finesse reel with 10lb 100% Flourocarbon, on a 6'6 MH Falcon rod to fish weightless 3.5" senko's wacky style all summer. Works great. I can't imagine any reel could be much better for weightless/light weight lures. I see no reason why you couldn't spool with lighter line. I intend to spool all my crankbait reels with 8lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid this coming season.

Slow reels
This is why the Musky fishing guys many times opt for the large 6000 series and some for the 7000 series ABU round reels. A LONG cast doesn't strip much line and helps to maintain a consistant speed. Also a larger diameter spool helps to increase line per turn speed. That is how Abu 4600 c4's at 6.3.1 pick up 31" of line. The same amount of line most low profile 7.1.1 reels pick up.

Spinning reel size
My brother uses the large spool BPS spinning reels. While I don't like how they feel, they really do cut down on line management problems when using flouro. Also, I've noticed KVD has always used oversized spinning reels. Even years ago. I would be willing to bet that is why. Larger spool reduces line memory, twist etc.

getting a new bait caster need help
Yep. Agree. Can't beat big game. And since it is inexpensive a good line to start out on baitcasters with. Something I've not seen mentioned is that depending on the sensitivity/quality of the rod maybe different lines can be used to increase sensitivity-for instance braid. A no stretch line might compensate for an slow actioned rod to a point.

Boyd Duckett introduces new rod company
Which seems like par for the course yet shady business to me. Regardless of the carrot's reliability, to me that undermines the things he has to say about the carrots. Despite the rod situation I think Boyd will be on my fantasy team for the classic

Lake Hartwell Survey
Story found on Bass Today newletter. Link to survey by the South Carolina DNR. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/conservation/news/story?page=b_con_SC_Hartwell_20091120 Prevent some wasteful spending at the same time ensure the spending that does happen helps bass fishing. This only takes a few minutes.

Tube jig fisherman.
How does tube construction effect bait action? For instance what is the difference other than durability of a thicker tube vs a thinner tube?

Tube jig fisherman.
In my limited experience I've had serious trouble hooking up when texas rigged. Anyone else? I'm going to give up on TX rigging them and always rig them with an exposed hook jig head.

quick question about muskie fishing
I don't remember exact names but Musky411.com I think it was and Muskiesfirst.com.... Musky Hunter Magazine has their own forum that gets visited by some of the bigger names in musky fishing.

Wright and McGill Skeet Reese rods.
Not sure. But It sounds better than squirrel stiff or muskrat stiff..... ;D

Wright and McGill Skeet Reese rods.
It makes sense to me. I don't fish frogs but it would seem you would need a rod with a soft tip to throw unweighted lures, and plenty of backbone to haul bass out of cover and/or set the hook. Sounds like a rod that would be good for senko fishing to me. I guess to really be able to haul fish out of 'frog water' it would have to be king kong stiff......

Which reels would you pair with these rods?
Try to get in on the Revo STX for $100 starting tomorrow at Gander Mountain

Surprising discovery
Must have been a bad group of chinese kids putting it together. That was the punishment. That sounds like WAY more work than doing it the right way.

Rod Comparisons
The Mojo on your list is "extra-fast", so it will also feel whippy. Rod selection is a very personal thing, but if it were me I'd be looking for a fast-tip on a med hvy blank. Roger Apparently we all have different terminology. An extra fast rod is the opposite of whippy. IMO.

Slow reels
FYI Kevin VanDam 6.3.1 I think we know how KVD stacks up to those guys.

Abu Garcia round reels
If your interested in used, I've got a few I would sell....I've got a couple non instant anti reverse 5500 c3's and two 4600 c3's. One of the 4600's I've taken the time to super tune.
-
Anyone still use Abu round reels?
Two 4600c3's a 4600 c4, 4600 c3 usa-1, 5600 ultra cast, 5600 c4, two 5500 c3's, two 6500 c3's, two of the older Ambassadeur "low profile" reels. One with a syncro drag the other is a wide spool version with a bait clicker. The majority of those are or have been musky reels. Wouldn't really want to sell them for various reasons so most just set around.

vicious flourocarbon
Most hate it....I've never used it but I've fished with my brother a bunch this year and that is all he uses now. Including on his spinning reels. Try it and let us know.

Bench tested 12# Berkley Vanish
what's a copolymer knot? Palomar knot.....Thinking of the real solution in Y/Z Hybrid, while thinking about knots at the same time.

Berkley Big Game/P-Line CX Premium
For a moving bait, you can't hardly beat big game IMO. P-line puts me off because of their line rating... I'm not sure if ALL P-Line offerings do it but some of their stuff is so strong because the line is a higher lb test in a lower lb test box. Just compare diameter to strength ratios.

Anyone still use Abu round reels?
That is ALL I used until this past year. 4600 C3 and C4's There isn't a more bullet proof, long lasting reel made. Now or EVER.

Wright and McGill Skeet Reese rods.
Any feedback on these. Just saw them advertised in the Dec Bassmaster. Never heard of them before.
