Couple of questions on a Spinning Reel
Sounds like your fixin' to have more problems than deciding which reel to buy

i have a musky rod...
Musky rods vary quite a bit. There might be a few things you could use it for, but again that depends on how heavy it actually is. Biggest bass by far I've ever caught was on a 7' Musky rod and 10" power worm. 50lb braid, at least when talking about what everyone here calls braid, it way to weak for musky fishing. That makes me think you are talking about Courtland braid or Dacron. If that's the case the stuff is to big a diameter for bass fishing. If they did use 50lb test of the new braids.........I'm amazed.

OK .... I think I am pretty much done with flourocarbon lines!!!!
I think the problems with memory and loops etc are operator error. Especially the Y/Z hybrid. Has to be the strongest per diameter, I've used. On a small spooled Supreme spinning reel with ZERO, ZERO,ZERO problems. The above is IMO Below is not The breaking problems are due to poor knot selection and execution. The line will break if there is a poor knot tied. In the case of flouro think of it breaking like snapping a toothpick. It snaps at kinks in the line. Mono will stretch and fatigue, then break.

Spinning reels
I prefer the 8030 for 6'6 rods....or lighter rods.....I have an 8030 on my Loomis SHR 821. 8030 on Rogue 6'6 M I'd like to get the Loomis 7 4" Bronzeback, and for that rod I would go with 8035. You don't need a big reel, and to me, the smaller reels feel better in use.

Bassmaster really dropped the ball on this one...
Probably a bit easier to catch bass from a private lake, that doesn't see any other lures.

would this work for shaky/drop shot???
In my mind a fast tip won't work. The rod needs to be rated at a higher lure rating than a shaky rod. I don't use less than 3/8 oz for drop shot weights. And in big water with higher winds I'll go higher. A rod rated for those lure weights needs to have a slower action to protect the line. A longer rod with the same slower action will protect the line even more. The only time I would fish a lighter d/s weight would be for shallow D/Sing less than 10 feet. Which I don't do anyways.

Spinning Reels?
Front drag do have a stronger more consistent drag. And it's what the Pflueger Supreme comes in.

would this work for shaky/drop shot???
It would be OK for drop shotting. But I prefer a longer rod. And one with a higher lure rating, and a moderate action For shaky heads, I would want something with a lighter lure rating, starting at heaviest 1/16-1/4. This one would also be longer IMO, and have a considerably faster tip than a drop shot rod.

FLW--will it become stronger than BASS?
There needs to be an appeal to a larger audience even if within the bass fishing world. That appeal attracts sponsors. Sponsors who will be much more frugal with spending.....As soon as one of the series separates itself from the other in sponsorship viability the other is doomed. Even big bad BASS. FLW brings that appeal by being much more accessible to the weekend angler. For one thing BASS entry costs, even if you find a local federation chapter are absolutely ridiculous. If I remember right it's $35/year to join FLW, and at least for me, have several BFL tournaments within 4 hours or less.

The "P" in P-Line??
And how is that, or could that be pronouned? Probably better they just stuck with P-Line. ;D

Drop shot / Shakey Rod
Me too.

Drop shot / Shakey Rod
IMO they aren't all that interchangeable. A shakey rod can be lighter but with a faster action than a D/S rod.

Carrot Stix for Jerkbaits
+1. I can get away with 6'6 though. 6'2 might be even better but what I use works good enough to not change. I don't like how any action you attempt to impart in a jerkbait gets absorbed in a really soft tipped rod.

:- Abu C3, C4, or D6?
The C3's and C4's feel pretty much the same.... I don't know about the swimbaits you are going to use, but with musky lures, the C4's even at 6.3.1 are to fast for heavy resistance lures. Crankbaits, bucktails etc. You can really feel the loss of power when using musky lures. I use the 5600C4's for jerkbaits hard and soft and topwaters, C3's for cranks/bucktails- Abu C3, C4, or D6?
It' really only a question of line capacity. The 4600, 5500-6500 reels all have the same internal parts. Only exception being the 6 series reels have a 'baitclicker'...- Not a gimmick
It is a gimmick. The feel of the rod at your hand, when palming shouldn't matter split grip or not. With that said, it could only make the rod lighter and more sensitive-even if ever so slightly....So what does it hurt.- First baitcaster setup
I use 80 and 100lb Stren Super braid, and 30lb Berkley Big game on all my 5500 Musky reels.- Symetre and Supreme spool diameters
If I had the opportunity to I would > Thank you Swimbasser. I didn't realize how many people would think I spelled my user name wrong and meant swimbasser. It's supposed to mean South West Michigan Basser. ;D- Shorter Anglers
As long as it's Shimano right? :- P-Line Flouroclear and Yo-Zuri Hybrid
I know I keep repeating this post but for the life of me I can't figure how ANYone has problems with memory/manageability using the Y/Z Hybrid. At least in 8lb test, I had ZERO problems with it, even on a small spooled 8030 Supreme. And I just did remove the line it's been setting on that spool for months. Still no memory..... Shrug/- First baitcaster setup
IMO unless you are Shaquille O'Neil, skip the 6 series round reels. All my Musky reels are 5500C3/C4/Ultra casts... The extra line capacity isn't needed, the reels are identical inside, and the big reels are heavier and harder to palm. - Spinning reel not "spooling"??
