Shaky Head Suggestions: Rod, Reel, Line, Jig/Worm
If the fish are active enough to eat a 'shakey head' that is heavy enough to warrant a H rod, I'll fish with something much more efficient. At least up here, I'll only go up to 1/8 oz.

matching a rod to a revo s
I haven't fished with them but have checked them out in stores this weekend... The Vendetta, and Falcon Bucoo are both really nice rods. Same for the Carbonlite from BPS. Even a couple of the skeet reese rods I didn't mind (the jerkbait rod) It's amazing to me that you can buy more rod for $100 today, than you could for $100 5 or more years ago.

Revo Premier
The lighter weight balances well on my Loomis Mossyback BCR 853. Recently got both, and this is going to be my new jig combo

Best place and price on tubes in bulk?
Shuberts, and Snack Daddy Lures but sell large quantities for good prices. Both supply products to regional tournament fisherman, and have developed quite the following up here.

Shaky Head Suggestions: Rod, Reel, Line, Jig/Worm
Loomis Shakey Head rod. SHR821S. Little lighter for the 1/16th heads, but will handle the heavier heads.. (I only fish 1/16th and 1/8th heads) Pflueger Supreme 8030. Picasso, and Owner heads. Intend to try the Strike King, or Bite Me heads. Any soft strait worm. I really like the Strike King finesse worms made from Elaztech. Also like the good old Zoom trick worm 6lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Works for me.

Cheapest Non Screw Loc Shakey heads?
I should clarify. It can't have a post either. I like the Strike King, Bite Me, Tru Tungsten, and Bagley heads, but good lord are they expensive. I've even looked at do-it molds but don't see what I'm looking for. Maybe my only choice will be to fork out the $$$$$ The reason I need a barbed head is my favorite worm for the technique is an elaztech worm and you can not screw it onto a a screw loc or insert a post.

X-fast tips....
That 's exactly the idea, the hook point reaches the point of entry in the tissue faster in an extra fast tip that it does with a fast tip, also, it reduces the ammount of energy necessary to set the hook because the rod is stiffer at the the tip and has to bend less. Now, how faster it is ? miliseconds How less energy is needed ? a few newtons But, as usual it depends, there are days when a bass hits a bait and literally munches on it, on days like those it makes no difference if you have a fast tip over an extra fast, and there are days when bass barely mouths the bait and spits it right away, on days like those the extra fast tip helps you to hook the fish before it spits the bait. so for finess fishing extra fast would have added bonuses over fast. What about with spinnerbaits and buzzbaits? A little slower tip can be beneficial in finesse applications...Simply because the line used is usually light, and a softer rod will help protect the lighter line from breakage.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
broken or not I would demand the rod back....It's YOUR rod. Hell maybe you want to pull components off it to use on another rod ;D I'll buy the broken rod from you.

new BPS carbonlite rods LOL
I really like the J/M Elite rods also. The longer rods could use a shorter handle IMO though. Another rod to look at is Rogue. GREAT rods. And you can add recoil guides to any of their rods for an extra $30. I've had one a couple years now, and want to get another.

Spinning Vs. Baitcasting
I would get a baitcaster. You need them for some things. At the very least I would have a jig rod that was a baitcaster. No matter how good you are with a spinning reel, a baitcasting setup is more accurate.

How to spend $300?
You would be amazed the deals you can find when you really look. As was pointed out I have NO DOUBT you can get $500 or more of stuff from the flea market with your $300. I know some folks with combo's similar to yours who catch lots of fish, so your probably OK there. I would set down with a notebook and all of your tackle in front of you. Write down what you like fishing with the most, and what you have to fish that technique. Then what you want to hone skills on and then make a list of what you have and want based on that. I've learned over the last few years of having less $$ than I was used to, that I WASTE a BUNCH of money buying things just because they are on sale or clearance. If it's not something I really wanted or needed, or not in the color I want, or will use, I won't buy it. No matter how cheap it is.

Pitching and Flipping
I assume you have this book? I saw it on Amazon the other day. Does it cover just flipping/pitching or does he cover other stuff? (swimming, finesse, dragging football's etc) I might pick up a copy.

Pitching and Flipping
He already answered above this post, but still this is a valid question and one that should be asked more often. I don't own a flipping stick, and honestly where 'I' am from, I would have no use for one. I don't flip. Ever. I do pitch alot, but a pitch can be about as far as a short to medium distance cast.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
Makes it easier to look at other brands...That Rogue with recoils went from 2nd choice to first.

Will it fit?
It should work fine...Not tried this one specifically but there is no reason it won't work.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
+1 billion...But it doesn't sound like they have.

Wasted Fishing Line.
I always add a backing. Even with line that isn't that expensive like Y/Z Hybrid. It just doesn't make sense to add an entire spool of it when I'm only going to use at max, 50 yards or so... Especially useful to make a spool of Flouro last longer.

I apologize... When I think Canada I just think 8 hour north...

BPS Pro Qualifier or BPS Extreme
BPS gear sets will fit in a REVO? Are you positive about this? I could get a 4.7:1 gearset and turn my Unused REVO SX's into deeep crankers? 8-) Yep. Done it personally a few times.

Goby - Food vs Predator
Sorry to be brash but that is flat out irresponsible. "Sportsmen" need to take management issues more seriously and not just view them as an inconvenience. Many management problems could have been prevented by responsible actions or sportsmen. Sure smallmouth are getting big eating them. But what about the population of other fish, and other forage. Great Lakes Salmon are a great example of the necessity to have a variety of forage. After years of gorging on Alewives biologists are finding the single protein diet is sterilizing salmon. You are pointing out his mistake using hindsight. Our fishing and hunting is based on the rules and laws. There are certain minnows now that you can't use as live bait. You cannot criticize your grandfather for using them before they were endangered. Or you used to be able to harvest 6 smallies on my lake, they changed it to 3. Things change, so the fisherman changed. I agree that it is irresponsible to use them NOW. But don't criticize based on knowledge that has been released after his actions, which were at the time legitimate. In fact, those gobies he caught he said the smallmouth killed them, so he actually killed a few for us before the regulation was passed. I agree with everything you said, except for you quoting and calling out TJ. You are probably right. But 'WE' still have to take charge of our resource, and not sit on our hands until someone tells us to do otherwise. In my opinion.

swim jigs (not chatter style baits)
I tie my own, that is very similar to a Nichols Mango jig. Cone shaped head, and light weed guard. This is my go to jig for almost every possible way of jig fishing. Even fishing wood. I usually swim a 3/8 jig with a paca chunk. I figure If I need to go deeper I'll switch to something else. Single tail grubs are good swim jig trailers as well.
