  1. Perhaps ya could double up tournament dates on the bigger waters for a bigger tournament and payout
  2. I like P-line #12-17 100% Fluorocarbon
  3. I used the Improved Clinch knot. I've never had a problem with either knots but I've read and heard many times that a clinch knot is better for fluoro. I guess a palomar may cut into itself and brake with fluoro.
  4. COol thanks
  5. Oh I see the difference now. What confused me is that I've seen soft trout swimbaits much like that but with a paddle tail. Does that soft trout get any swimming action without joints, a bill, or a paddle tail? Or do you have to impart the action with the rod? I couldn't find any videos of it.
  6. Can you please post a picture of a soft swimbait and a paddletail, not sure I understand the difference.
  7. Don't give up on fluorocarbon. It is very useful for the right baits. I use P-line fluorocarbon and P-line Halo fluorocarbon. It is supposed to be stiffer than mono. It is also so much more sensative than mono. What problems are you having with it? Are you using it on spinning or baitcasting? Proper spooling is crucial to good line behavior.
  8. I've never used a powell, but I own a Dobyns Champion 704C (7' H fast) that I use for T-rigging. This is an awesome rod! It is verrrry sensative and light weight.
  9. Because fluorocarbon is denser, it is much more sensative, making it ideal for finesse techniques like dropshotting, and also for throwing any baits on the bottom. It allows you to feel whats down there. Also, it will bring plugs a bit deeper than mono. Mono can be useful when throwing treble hook baits because it acts like a rubber band and fish can't throw slack in the line as easily. This makes it harder to throw your hook. Also it is good for topwater because it floats
  10. My hard swimbaits are on their way. I've fished soft swimbaits, and (unless you count the scrounger) I haven't caught any bass on them yet. I just don't like the action they get. The paddle tail only gives action to the back portion of the bait and I want it to swim from head to tail. Although, I've seen the testimonies, so I know I should give them a better chance. Is there any good soft swimbaits that aren't paddle-tail?
  11. Which huge soft jerkbaits are good?

  13. Not to hijack this thread but I suppose this is related: I've caught pike on quite a few baits, but usually when I'm fishing for bass. I've been watching the Hunt For Big Fish a lot lately and I'm getting Essox hungry. I've learned that they react well to baits with the right SOUNDS. But what about ACTION? I was intending to throw some swimbaits for Pike and Muskie next season because of their lifelike action, but should I be throwing the right SOUNDING baits like spinnerbaits or buzzbaits?

"Japnese Shad" is one of the best natural colored cranks I've seen - Very natural hues with a speck of chartreuse. It has a perfect dark to light fade from the top to bottom and it is translucent like many baitfish.
  15. I like a 7' H. Should be fast action for quick hookset. A fast reel speed is ideal so you can take up line fast and get a good hookset. I use #12-17 fluorocarbon for sensitivity
  16. theres lots of awesome fisheries within 2 hours of oneida
  17. YUM's scent is very good. Also, if you use a jighead for a wacky hook, your wacky rig has become a flick shake! This is also a very good rig
  18. perhaps an air-tight tupperwear container can be floated behind your kayak
  19. Has anyone used the scrounger now that Luck-E-Strike makes it? Wonder if they fixed the bill problem. How about Berkley's version??
  20. I keep my plastics in their original package so that they are always 'marinating' in scent. If the plastic is only salt but not scent, I spray some YUM LPT, or Kick'N Bass Attractant in the bag.
  21. Gamakatsu 2/0-4/0 EWG worm hook and Owner Z-neck offset 3/0-4/0
  22. I love the scrounger, however, the last few times I've ordered them, the bill was softer and doesn't give good action to my fluke anymore. I've contacted the company but they just sent me more soft bills. I'm going to try new plastics on it when the water here melts, but if they still don't work then i guess the "shaker" is my only hope!
  23. Shoulda began the thread with "**Spoiler Alert"
  24. ^ Nice fish! ^ I got those on a Texas rigged Yum Dinger "Watermelon"
