Fishing with Flukes
I like them in shallow-ish grass as well. Sparse cover is always good and docks are great, especially for skipping. Strike Kings Z2 is good for skipping, but I mostly use Zooms Superfluke. I almost always fish it weightless on a light wire hook. I throw it out, twitch it a couple times and let it fall slowly right in their faces. Be patient. The slow fall tantalizes them into biting. It's an awesome bait so don't give up on it. You can definatley catch some good fish on it, especially when they're being finicky. I put Kick'n'Bass attractant into my fluke bags to "marinate" them. I believe it helps a lot. I've put the junior flukes on swimin jigs as a trailer and jerking it gave it an awesome eratic action. Fish slammed it. Try that out too.

Open Bass Tourneys
An oxygenator is an aerator that puts dissolved oxygen in the water. I think they still sell them at Gander Mt. and BPS or Walmart may have them. They're kind of expensive though so if it's just for this one time, any aerator will work. Otherwise, an oxygenator is great. Good luck in the tournament.

Icey cool poll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got about 3.5' of snow on the ground. how do you people deal with this? We need to make an online support group.

Open Bass Tourneys
Almost all tournaments will require you to have livewells tho, you got that? Before I got my bas boat, I used a big cooler with an "oxygenator".

Open Bass Tourneys
Hmmm. Most people will be glad to have you as they assume that if you have a small boat, they will automatically take your money. I've never heard of a hp minimum. There should be a contact # or e-mail for the host of the tourney, can you google for it?

What is this?
hmmm.... imHo, I think it looks kinda lame. Practical, but not sexy like you're normal dual axle bass boat trailer.

Going against the grain- Elite Sportsmanship!
I'm an Ike fan but i'm not going to defend the spitting. Someone said he had river water in his mouth, but still that's something ya gotta restrain or do in a tasteful manner. His celebrations have been rather angry at the last 2 classics. I wish he would keep it to the screaming, because I actually like when he screams, it's exciting to and really gives you a perspective on how amazing it is to catch a giant in the Classic... makes me wanna be in the classic.

NEVER GIVE UP...
i watched it through the EXPO Cam yesterday, you don't really see it well, just on the tv screen in the booth, but you can hear it too so it's slightly better than just the audio.

NEVER GIVE UP...
you're not missin much anyway. It's just skeet casting all day and jami fralick sitting in a lock. I only saw one little dink catch from skeet. I dont even think it's live because it cuz right from jami fishin to being in a lock, i didnt see him run.

Horrible Classic coverage
I have to say, day 2 TV coverage was much better than day 1. At least I saw some BASS this time.
-
some Classic "pros" are busch league.
You're right. I can kinda understand swinging them into the boat, but letting it flop around is bad. They look like little kids when they do that. And the culling, if they're not going to have co's this year, then they should use their dual livewells instead of throwin em on the floor.

WHAT HAPPEN TO GOD

Is it too late for KVD????
I hope not too, but that's still only 15 lbs total which was like 17th place yesterday. Too late for KVD.

First Bass of 2009 (New Pics)
Yes. That's cool, I didn't know there was good bass fishing there.
-
Horrible Classic coverage
Agreed. and the tv coverage was awful too. Boyd Ducket is leading it and they didnt show one fish catch of his. They didnt show how clunn and kennedy are in aluminum, no Martens' fish catches, not many fish catches at all. They talked more about kim-baine moore and bill lowen than about bass.

Lake Champlain tips
Lemme give you my ideal Lake Champ: Mid-late may, Launch out of Ticonderoga. It's a nice launch. The Super 8 there is nice. Senkos work well. The water is usually pretty stained. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits should be good too. If you do go in summer frogs are good. The south end of the lake has some of the best fishin, in the last BASS pro tourney there, all the top finishers were fishing near Ticonderoga and catchin big LM's. It's n awesome lake. Pretty big so break it down, don't launch out of plattsburgh and plan on fishin Ticonderoga, my advice is just stay right in the Ticonderoga area. It's off I-87

Unofficial standings from the 2009 Bassmaster Classic
wow! where'd Ike come from? they're catchin 20 lb bags, this is much better than I was expecting!

Lake Champlain tips
The SM are a little harder to find. Where are you fishin out of? If you're fishin near Ticonderoga, especially in the spring, fish the creeks, loads of cover packed with LMB's.

What is your favorite fishing situation?
