  1. SmallieFever, That is an awesome picture!!!
  2. Quantum Accurist PT is a great reel, has a 'flippin switch' which I really like for flippin and pitchin and just casting.
  3. Quantums are great reels. If this is your first time baitcasting, you may not want to use fluorocarbon yet, it is more difficult to manage. Learn BC with mono or copoly. Why does the alternative have to be an ugly stick? There are good graphite rods other than the St. Croix. You should probably go with a graphite rod judging by your intended use. It will be most sensitive and responsive, and also lighter.
  4. Strike King Red Eye Shad. The color "Japanese Shad" is really an awesome natural. It is great for all the clear water I fish.
  5. Strike King makes a really nice pair of polarized glasses that I've found at Wal Mart. They were like $12, I like em as much as my Oaklies
  6. The one on the right is my current personal best at 5.4 lbs, it was good for lunker.
  7. I've heard Jerkbaits and other stick shaped plugs called "Stickbaits" I've also heard senkos called stickbaits which is probably more appropriate because senko is a model name. People often reffer to any soft stickbait as a senko. The brand, Yamamoto makes the "senko", Yum makes the "dinger". These are stickbaits. Today, the senko would not be considered a jerkbait. But there are soft plastic jerkbaits as well as hard jerkbaits. The "sluggo" or Zoom "superfluke" is a soft plastic jerkbait. People often get confused when brands of lures are confused with type. Lipless cranks are reffered to as rattletraps but, that is just saying "Rat-L'Trap", a lipless crankbait made by Bill Lewis Lures. Again, this is the original, so people call all lipless crankbaits a rattle trap. Same thing with a original "chatterbait". They are reffered to as a swim jig or bladebait, (or chatterbaits). Those names are actually already taken by other lures though... darned lure namers!
  8. I searched on google, but couldn't find these online. Can you post a link to where I can buy that?
  9. What kind of line would you throw a BBZ-1 on?
  10. My favorite is Dirty Jigs Flippin Jig
  11. I personally don't like them. They are stiff, especially the tubes.
  12. Thanks for the info. I shall try the Spro BBZ-1 Swimbait 6". What kind of line would you throw this on?
  13. Hello all, in your opinion, what is the best hard swimbait for < $40? Does it have good action? realistic paint job?
  14. Zoom is my favorite. For throwing it as a topwater, I like strike King's Z2, it's very bouyant.
  15. I check for sharpness, if sharp, they go back in, no sense in fishing with hooks that aren't sharp. If it's not sharp, I throw it away, unless it's attached by a split ring like on a crankbait, then I'll sharpen it. It's either that or change it out and both take about the same time
  16. has anyone ever raised largemouth or smallmouth in an aquarium. I have a 30 gallon tank, would I be able to keep a LMB or SMB?
  17. hmmm, I can't decipher your achronyms. For braid I use suffix and I definately reccomend it. It's a little expensive, but you got steezes! A line that I use for a lot of different things is P-line fluroclear. It's a copolymer. It has less momory than fluoro but has a lot of the fluoro qualities. Its a nice medium and I throw just about everything on it until I get into the heavy stuff with braid, or finnesse with fluoro. I use P-line CXX for shallow crankin and spinnerbaits tho.
  18. yeah dude, easy pickings, better than the canal at least. see any bass in it? there were a couple in there maybe 3 lbs. and a bunch 13 inches and smaller.

    Kick'N'Bass and YUM's LPT
  20. Bite-Me Tube heads are the best. Use a heavier weight for deeper water, don't be afraid to go up to 1/2 oz or heavier. You will feel the bottom better that way as well. A pretty standard size is 1/4 oz though. Are you talking St. Lawrence Rv by any chance?
  21. Yo dude, if you're at Bport, then I know a spot you might wanna try. If you're on the canal, get on the opposite side from the school where the path is, go on that, in the direction of redman road, (west i think) and go past that redman rd bridge for a little while. There will be a little path into the woods and back there is a little pond. I saw it there when I went for a run once, but I didnt fish it. There were a whole bunch of keeper size largemouths and a couple big ones. IDK if that's private property or not (must be if someone stocked the pond) but I didn't see anyone around. If you get to a boat launch on the canal, you've gone too far. It's pretty far but there were some nice LM's in there for ya....
  22. The Erie Canal is alright, you're never going to get awesome fishing out of it unless you're on a part connected to a bigger water. I used to go to SUNY Brockport, and I'd fish the Erie canal between classes, caught some decent smallies outta it on Yum Dingers
  23. Yes we do. It is called "Northeast Bass Fishing." ;D OUCH! dude that hurts... :-[
  24. Strike King, the KVD pro model spinnerbaits are sweet.
