What Is Your Favorite Pitching And Flipping Set Up?
Ha, thanks. It puts them in the boat that's what counts for me. That 766 is a GREAT rod. I'd love a free spool of Tatsu! haha

8' Jig Rod
Hi Matt. The 804c is a bit of a stiff rod yes, but not overly. Maybe you were hearing about the 805c which IS about as broomstick as it gets until you load up a 5 lber on the end. The only thing I notice on the 804c that MAY make it feel odd is the blank is thick above the reel nut. I have a friend who threw a 1/2 oz football jig on the 804c and he loved it. I used the rod for a spook as well and it casted and worked the bait well. The 804c is actually not as stiff as the 764c to me. I use that rod a bit for 3/8 oz football heads, although I prefer the 744dx. Please let me know if there are any more specific questions I may answer.

Jig Rod Question
Dobyns Champion 735. Any of the Revo will pair up well. The Dobyns will certainly not be as light on a scale as some other rods mentioned. However, it will balance just as well (likely better) and be more comfortable after a day of fishing. I am concerned with how a rod feels when I fish it and how it does when I hook a fish over how it feels in hand in a store or how light the blank is. Feel free to call Dobyns shop and ask to speak with someone who's name is on the rod, they can go into more detail with you.

Question About Special Purpose Rod/reel Setups
As has been covered already, by no means do you have to have specific set ups. It all depends how particular you are. I get particular with a lot of baits, but if I'm practicing, fun fishing or even just in a buddy's boat I don't worry about my setups as much. Their are some exceptions for me such as frog fishing I have to have the right rod, reel and line. I'll post some of my setups just for giggles: Dobyns Champion Extreme dx744fh - Curado E - 16lb Sunline Sniper - JIGS (also heavy dropshot around grass) Dobyns Champion Extreme dx744fh - Citica 200e - 15lb Maxima - SPINNERBAIT Dobyns Champion Extreme x743s spinning - Shimano Symetre 3000 - 7lb sunline sniper - DARTHEADS/TUBES/SENKOS 1 Dobyns Champion Extreme dx743s spinning - Shimano Symetre 3000 - 7lb sunline sniper - DARTHEADS/TUBES/SENKOS 2 Dobyns Champion Extreme dx702s spinning - Shimano Symetre 3000 - 7lb sunline sniper - DROPSHOT Dobyns Champion Extreme dx795 - Tatula high speed - 70lb Daiwa Samurai braid - FLIPPIN, PITCHIN, PUNCH Dobyns Champion Extreme dx746 - Tatula Type-R high speed 8.1 - 70 lb Daiwa Samurai Braid - BUZZBAIT/FROG Dobyns Champion 736c - Tatula Type-R high speed 8.1 - 70lb Daiwa Samurai Braid - FROG Dobyns Champion 804cb - Shimano Citica 6.3:1 - 20lb Sunline Sniper - CHATTERBAITS Dobyns Champion 806CB - Tatula HD 7.0:1 - 15lb Maxima - A-RIG, SMALL SWIMBAITS Dobyns Champion 705CB - Shimano Curado 200e7 - 12lb Sunline Sniper - LARGE RIPBAITS (pointer 128) Dobyns Champion 704CB - Shimano Curado 200e7 - 10lb Sunline Sniper - RIPBAITS (vision 110,Staysee90) Dobyns Champion 705CB - Shimano Citica 200e - 15lb Maxima - SQUAREBILL CRANKS Dobyns Champion 734c - Daiwa Tatula HD 8.0:1 - 70lb braid/15lb maxima leader - SPOOK 1 Dobyns Champion 734c - Daiwa Tatula HD 8.0:1 - 70lb braid/15lb Maxima leader - SPOOK 2 Dobyns Champion 764c - Shimano Citica 200e - 15lb Maxima - SPINNERBAIT (around heavy cover/grass) I've left off my 2 swimbait rods which have 25lb mono and throw my large swimbaits 8" and over.

Changes In Equipment Just For The People Who Must Have The Latest ?
Use and do what makes you happy, or what you have the most confidence in really. I fish out of a slightly older bass boat that is 18' long with a 150. It works well for what I want it to do. If money weren't an issue I would have a 20 foot boat with a 250 but it does what I need it to do. It has the gen 2 lowrance hds units on it. I don't see a need (yet) to upgrade that technology. Those units show me everything I need to see. It really just comes down to a personal judgement for me if I feel that the newer product/technology is significant enough to justify a new purchase. I use higher end rods by no means the most expensive because that is important to me. I use high end line because that is important, and I use high end lures because that is important in my confidence. My baitcast and spinning reels are mid-range because I don't feel there is enough increase in the product itself to upgrade them. If a new amazing reel came out that was incredibly comfortable, I would consider selling off some old reels, but as of now, everything seems about par with what was out say, 8-9 years ago. Hope this makes a little sense.

What Fluorocarbon Do You Guys Like?
Personally I use Sunline Sniper in sizes 7lb-20lb. Love the stuff. Not sure what your fraying issue could be really, almost sounded like a bad guide or something rubbing if it was far down in the spool.

Single Or Double Sd Jam Knot ?
Single has been the strongest, most consistent knot I've ever tied. I've not personally had a reason to switch so I've not. Another favorite part of the knot for me is if you mess up and cross something wrong, or tie it wrong it will snap when you cinch it.

What Reel Has Been With You The Longest?
Had nearly all of my fishing stuff stolen a while back... I give away a lot too if it's not used much. As of now my oldest is probably a Citica 200D.

Punching Skirts
Most of the skirts "made for punching" have a band that keeps them from getting hung up. They're just about all the same. Just go with the color you like best.

What Brand Hooks.
Over time I probably use them all. Some of my favorites though... Mustad KVD Triple grips on my crankbaits, squarebills, rattletraps, and cranks with a lip. Gamakatsu round bends I use on my topwaters and ripbaits Owner Mosquito hook for my weightless and wacky baits Gamakatsu splitshot/dropshot Gamakatsu heavy cover flippin (glue the bait keeper) and some Gamakatsu EWG

Dobyns Dx
702c or 742c would be my personal choice for what you've listed. Mentioning too whippy I fear the 701c might be just slightly too soft for you, although it still doesn't behave like a crankbait rod. Hope this helps!

I Need A Good Reel For Drop Shotting
Shimano Symetre is my personal choice. I like the 3000 or 2500 size.
-
Favorite Color Roboworm
Morning dawn, MMIII, Xmas Purple Weenie. sXe shad.
-
Flipping Line
70lb Daiwa Samurai Braid is my choice around grass. Otherwise I like 20 lb sunline sniper.

Jerkbaits / Rip Baits: Rod Taper / Action
Use the rod that you purchased, there's nothing wrong with it. You covered it with KVD in what you said... he was talking about a different rod you need while throwing a crankbait rod. Just stick with what you have and concentrate on fishing it, your rod is fine and won't cause you any problems on working the bait.
