I'm wanting to throw the strike king 1.5, 2.5 and the XCS 200 square bills. Which length and action should I buy.

Rattletrap or Rattlin' Rapala?
I'll take an XR 50 over any of the rest. I have caught a ton of bass on the Bill Lewis rat-l-trap but it seems like you have to tune it after every catch and that gets to be a pain in the butt.

JM gold vs Pro Qual vs Revo S
Just thought I would throw this in.I talked to an associate at BPS a year ago during the clasic and he steered me away from the PQ tournament. His reasons were that it had cheaper components in it. I do not know this to be fact, just what I was told.

Dick's Sporting Goods deals
Just heard from a buddy that the good deal on these rods at Dicks was a mistake. They were supposed to be on sale for 79.99 instead of 39.99. Somehow it had the .97 ending which made it ring up at half price. I would say it was a corporate mistake since this was company wide.

Dick's Sporting Goods deals
Go back and have them scan them for you. The manager thought I was nuts when I told him that I had read on here that they were on sale for 39 dollars. He scanned the rods and he about soiled his britches.I called all of my fishing buddies and we cleaned them out.

St. Croix Premier
I picked up 3 Premier rods today at 39 bucks each. Called my buddy and he grabbed 2. Dang good deal!

Dick's Sporting Goods deals
I stopped at Dicks today to see what deals they had going on. Picked up 3 St Croix Premier rods for 39 each. I had read on BR that someone had found this deal at their store. The rods were not marked down I had to ask the manager to scan them for me. He was shocked to see it come up 39. Got to talking with him and told him the revo s combo I bought for 99 dollars at christmas was on sale for 49 dollars so he took me up front and got me 49 dollars back on that since was less than 90 days. I went there to look for more revo s combos but they were out. Thats when I remembered the St Croix rods. I have been getting some outrageous deals at Dicks as of late. Gotta love it.

Temple fork outfitters rods
Thanks for the info. I went to the tackle tour site and that was very informative. Probably will not be getting one of these rods.

Temple fork outfitters rods
Has anyone used one of these rods? The 6-6mh rod weighs 4.9 ozs. How does that compare to other rods ? I have no idea what most of the rods weigh. They do not list weights in the BPS catalog.

Daiwa Exceler Casting Internals
They don't sound like they are on the same par. I had an exceler but took it back because it was noisy, I do not like hearing a reel zzzzzzzz when you cast it. I have 4 PQ's and they are quiet.

reel maint.
I need a couple revo sx's gone through. Is their anyone on here who does this?

Garage Sale Rods and Reels
I never have heard of the reels, but, congratulations on your finds. I hit flea markets in my area and pick up some good rods and reels. I picked up a pair of the old abu garcia mag plus baitcasters for twelve bucks last year. Great outfits to go pond jumpin with. I put one on a 5 dollar quantum lite 6'-6" med action rod i had picked up and this is one awesome crankbait rod. I just picked up a 7' med action daiwa rod today for 5 bucks and paired it up with a shimano spinning reel with a 6.3 gear ratio I found last month for 10 bucks. It cast a country mile, going to a 20 acre lake in the morning, can't wait to use it. I get a kick out of using some of the vintage rods and reels. I found 2 lews speed spools recently for 35 each, awesome crankin reels. Put one on a 7' mh lightning rod, nice deep crankin outfit. Nailed a 20lb cat on it with no problems.

Higher ratio baitcasting reels?
I know this may sound stupid, but, I had to take my 7.0 reel back because the extra torque it put on my elbow was unbearable. I thought it would work great for a rattle trap "less turns you know" but wow I thought the old elbow was going to explode!

Quantum Tour Edition PT
I just picked up a 7' MH Quantum Tour Edition PT at the local Big R for $66. It was regular $129! Never used this series of rods, are they good? It seems real light. They had quite a few of their rods half price.

Revo Orra
You will like them. I have one and it is a very nice reel. If you decide you do not like them get a hold of me I will take them off your hands for 130 bucks. ;D You did good I wish I could come across deals like that. I was at a flea market today and picked up an old team diawa George Cochran twitchin topwater rod for ten bucks. Used it tonight and I like it.

Strike King Crankbaits-VERY HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes the normans are plastic also. I have hundreds of them and they are awesome, don't know why I bought a few strike kings???? For you Arizona sunshine folks, my baits swelled right in the box in the garage. And if they cant take the sunshine while in the boat I don't want them. Whats next, keep the Strike King baits on ice? LOL Might give them a tighter wiggle!! : On a serious note,my buddy uses my hand poured jig trailers and he claims the fish like em better if he keeps them in a cooler! Hard to argue with him when he won over $16,000 fishin' em' this way Go figure.

Spro frog mod mod
Just got in from catching 7 real nice ones on ol' kermy. I have never fished it before tonight. I think I have another favorite topwater! Did not have any problems hookin any of them. Just wait until you feel pressure and slam it home. I had a 7 and a half foot pitchin rod with 20 lb braid. Worked pretty good. First time using braid, I really like it too.

I need some input on the Powell 683
Thanks for the input guys. For what I have in mind I think I will go with the 684. I have several rods at the lighter end and I was looking for a rod with some real muscle.

Good deal on rod????
I found a GLoomis GL2 6'6" heavy action for 40 bucks. This is a well used rod,and it looks like it may be a few yrs old. Is this a good deal?

I need some input on the Powell 683
I am considering buying a Powell 683. Has anyone used this rod? And if you have what would be your input. I am looking to use this for worm, jig and possibly some froggin.

nose hooking flukes
I have the same problem with the fluke wanting to go to one side. Yes the bait has a slight bend to it but heck the whole pack does.

Strike King Crankbaits-VERY HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the same problem with a series 3 splitting down the back. Guess I 'll throw it away and chaulk it up as a lesson learned.
