  1. Has anybody used this color yet? Have you had any luck with it? Just curious because it sure looks good.
  2. I was at a cabelas a few weeks ago and the bargain cave was a joke. All they had was a bunch of broken rods that I would not of paid 5 bucks for the whole lot. It was my first time to visit a cabelas and I was not impressed. I will admit though, they had a nice section for the reels to be displayed.
  3. I started making out my list for BPS spring classic last night. I hope the Pro Qualifier is on sale during the classic I have a couple of them on the list. Pretty nice reel for the money. Looking at the list I better start working some overtime. ;D
  4. I will take my" fisher price" made Revo's any day. They are awesome reels.Glenn said it all.....They are the BOMB !!!!!!!! ;D
  5. I'll try that goose 52,thanks. Opening up the side is easy just read the instructions that come with it. Maybe I was to harsh on my post on this reel. It is a nice reel folks, real smooth. They are selling them fast, I got the last one yesterday at BPS.
  6. I messed with the carbonlite yesterday at Portage In. BPS. I thought it felt tip heavy and I do not like these rods going back to foam grips. Just my opinion folks.
  7. You will do all right with it. It is a nice reel for the money and I will probably get another one.
  8. I was at BPS yesterday and I did not see the new clunn reels,or the rods. They did have the old reels there marked down. Picked up the Pro Qualifier,it's nice.
  9. I bought the PQ yesterday, put line on today and threw it for a while. It is a good reel for the money, but it is no Revo. I do think it will have a home here in my arsenal though. I think I will open the side up and shut off all of the centrifical brakes and I will probably like it much better. It might cut down on the slight noise it makes while casting. All in all it is a good reel for the money!
  10. The SX is one awesome reel. I throw all of my light lures with it and never have a problem. It is the only rel I own that I can throw a deep baby n into a 15-20 mile an hour wind and not backlash.
  11. Thanks for all of the great info cart7t. I will be picking one up this next week. It really sounds like a great deal.
  12. I thought I had it bad until reading this. I would say I have a mild case. 24 Bait casters, 6 spinning reels. But why are we always looking for the next good reel deal??? Dang it.
  13. I usually carry two rods if I am pond fishing. One is the Rick Clunn 7' MH which is a nice all around rod. And the other is an All Star select MH sold by Dicks. I do not like spinning rods all that much. The high end outfits stay in the boat. Every once in a while I will pull out a 20 yr old old lightning rod with an old abu garcia on it and take it along. It may be an oldie but it is still a goodie. LOL
  14. Just curious, why do you want a 4.3 ratio reel? I used to think I needed the slow gear ratio's for crankin' but that was a mistake. It smokes your wrist and elbow with all the extra revolutions. Now I just use a 6.4 for most of my crankin', just slow down a bit. But, I rarely crank more than 8 foot deep. I have several 3.8 and 4.4 reels gathering dust.
  15. I have two of the silver capricorns. They are ok reels, I started having problems with the thumb bar engaging and making a grinding sound this last year. They are on some back up rods that hardly ever get used now. After using the smaller reels(revos) the last couple of years the capricorns feel huge in your hand.
  16. Does anyone know when the sale ends? I called the local Bass Pro today and they did not know when it ended.
  17. I am looking into buying a P.Q. I currently use revo's but am tired of paying the price. How big of a drop off in performance should I expect with the P. Q. I bought an extreme this spring and do not like it.
  18. I bought the original KVD crankin rod on sale at BPS last spring for $59. I put a REVO SX on it and it is one awesome set up. I origianlly had an extreme on it but had some serious issues with random backlashes. The extreme seems to be ok on rods that do not load up.
  19. XR 50 is my favorite, I'm gonna try the aruka shad this year. I bought a red eye and never could get it tuned to run straight so I never bought another one.
  20. The XR50 is one awesome bait. I used to be a rat-l-trap man but the last few years they don't seem to hold up as well.It seems like I was always tuning the bait after catching a few bass. The XR 50 takes a beating and keeps on running true. The Chrome with the black back is my "GO TO" color. Probably because I caught an 8 and a half pounder on it two years ago in March. I have this bait in several colors though. From this post I will throw the chrome and blue a little more now.Has anybody had any luck fishing the Araku Shad? I read an article that really has me wanting to try some of those as well.
  21. I have had success with both the berkley chigger craw and the yum craw bug.I generally use the green pumpkin or watermelon and on a texa rig. I use a wide gap hook on the chigger craw,it is a little thicker and I had a problem with it balling up on the hook during the hook set.I bought some paca craws last year but never used them.
