  1. Mine was the crappy Shakespeare red one combo at Walmart for like $25. That darn thing nearly made me right off baitcasters all together. Then I bought a pinnacle and learned that they all really weren't evil.
  2. Not all hack and slash but Psyco creeped me out. probably cause I was to young to see it but even when I watched it when I was older the Norman Bates caracter got to me.
  3. Academys H20 Xpress CRS+ crankbaits...$3.99 all day long!!...
  4. I think you are legal to fish that rig. As I see it the westy worm is an artificial lure so it's considered one hook reguardless of the actual number of hooks it has. No I would think the a rig is a harness for 5 lures. Now if you were to put empty hooks on the wire arms then maybe cause then you would be expecting the fish to eat the whole thing. JMHO
  5. No prob man. My question to bass pro was this: "I have a question regarding the listed manufacturing process of the Pro Qualifier casting reel. It states that it is a "machined aluminum frame". Does this mean that it is machined from a solid block of aluminum or is it die cast and them machined to specifications such as the extreme series of reels? Thank you" And I posted their reply.
  6. FYI on the pq reel Than you for contacting Bass Pro Shops. We we state machined aluminum on this reel, we mean that it is made from a solid block of aluminum. I do hope this information is helpful. Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. Best Regards, Vicki Bass Pro Shops Customer Service 1-877-732-2723
  7. Thats a great catch!! :thumbsup1:
  8. I have not found a crankbait yet that is good in grass or weeds. Usually when people talk about fish crankbaits in grass they usually mean above grass or slightly tipping the grass. Any crankbait that is fished in weeds will get grass on the bills and treble hooks and not run correctly. Square bills are great for brush and stumps and and even rocks to some extent. The KVD line of cranks are a good quality crank that will work well. Personally i think round bill cranks work better with a diggin the bottom type presentation such as when fishing around rocks, and square bills work better when bouncing of of someting that is up of the bottom such as a laydown or stump.
  9. This is a very interesting topic for discussion. Although a very confusing one for me to understand. In order for me to get a clearer understanding of what everyone is talking about let me first give the definitions of the manufacturing process as i know them. Extruded= passing a material through a machine in order to achieve a desired shape. Such as the method used for making monofilament and flourocarbon lines. Forged= heating a metal and the hammering it into desired shape. Such as blacksmithing. Cast= heating a material to liquid form and then injecting it into a mold to achieve desired shape. Such as the investment cast method of making golf club heads. Machined= taking a solid piece of material and cutting it into desired shape. Now my questions, Are my definitions of the above processes inaccurate as it relates to the descriptions in the thread? Which process is the graphite framed reels made with? Also in rearguards to the PQ line of reels the BPS catalog states that the PQ is "machined aluminum" and the Extreme series is "die cast and then machined to specifications" It would appear by their description that the PQ is made of 1 solid piece of machined aluminum. I was just wondering if this was a marketing ploy and the process is actually the same as the extreme series. I have sent an e-mail to bps with this question so hopefully they will reply soon and i can give their answer on here.
  10. It was a good day my man!! Although I wish we went catching instead of fishin . It was great meeting you also and we will certainly do it again soon. This site is great for meeting new people and enjoying new adventures. And brother you are more than welcome to use my honey holes anytime cause obviously there is nothing in them but ducks and pollen
  11. Shoot a message to Delaware valley tackle he can get you hooked up..
  12. Brother, i have to disagree with you there. Most of the elite professional anglers suggest fluoro for cranking.. The reason being that it sinks and can get the bait down further. Also fluoro has greater sensitivity and abrasion resistance than mono so you can feel whats on the bottom better when digging your crank on the bottom and don't have to worry as mush with the line becoming weak if cranking in heavy cover. I switched to fluoro last year for cranking and i will never go back to mono....Just my $.02
  13. The bass are following their food. This will happen allot when the brim are spawning. I notice it mostly in ponds and small bodies of water, maybe they are just easier to spot than large bodies of water. The bass sit right outside of the "school" of brim and when/if one get left out on his own its dinner time. I've also seen where the bass will run up in the school to pick one off sorta like when killer whales go after a seal of the beach.
  14. I used a 40# hand controlled motor for mine. I also had a deck on it but I tested it out I really didn't trust my banknote enough to not fall overboard. But I could stand just fine without it.
  15. All black is my confidence color but for the polls sake I went black w/ red flake
  16. I don't own the Signature series but several pq's. The added cost you will see with the sig series is because it has aluminum side plates ( makes the reel a little more solid), duralum drive gear ( a harder metal that will last longer with less wear than brass of the pq , although the pq's i have are going on 4 years old and i haven't seen any wear yet, as well as being lighter than brass), 10 bearings ( probably not in areas than make a whole bunch of difference like 1 on the worm gear and 2 in the handle knobs), the carbon fiber handle ( purely a weight reduction and some aesthetic appeal), and prolbably the biggest difference is the carbon fiber drag system ( definatly a plus IMO) The area that it lacks is the knobs themselves on the sig series. I have a reel with those on there and they stink IMO. If i were making the choice i would rather have 2 pq's and upgrade the drag for 10-12 bucks apiece instead of 1 sig series reel.
  17. If you get a bite in an are defiantly stay there for a little while and get another bite. Usually you'll find multiple bass in one area. If you get multiple fish off an area you may want to move to let it cool down a bit but go back before you leave for the day. I'll usuall spend about 30min in one specific area before I move to the next. I will first start with cranks and spinnerbaits looking for aggressive bass for about 15 min. If I haven't gotten anything I will work it over slower with jigs and worms for about 15 min. If I still haven't gotten anything I'll move on.
  18. I actually got a 1lb spool of 12# yo zuri hybrid really cheap last year and that's what I use. I like it cause if for some reason I get a nasty backlash On the bait caster or a knarly tangle on my spinning gear I can just strip the line down to the yozuri and keep on using the rod and reel with confidence.
  19. I use a The 3" D.O.A C.A.L shad tail. Pearl w/ chartreuse on 1/16 oz academy jig heads.
  20. I love when the water get low in the fall and winter time. I have an area of stumps that gets pounded during the summer when the water is high. Usually can get a couple of good cranks off those stumps. Some may need hooks but still bets payin 5-10 a pop.
  21. Welcome back Catt!..
  22. The definition is a violent backward whipping motion. A backlash is when the reel is in free spool mode when cast and the reel spool is spinning rapidly. Then when the Line get tangled it abruptly stops the forward Motion of the reel spool causing it to whip backward. An overrun however never stops moving forward and the line never tangles just seperates from the spool. This usually happens when the spool is moving at slower speeds. That's just how I have always separated the 2. Although where it origanated in bass fishing I couldn't tell ya.
  23. Lucky craft top water walk the dog type bait http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/products/topwater/sammy100.htm
  24. So did you purchase anything from BPS with all those benefits you reaped?
