  1. I regularly pull my nitro nx 750 with a Mazda B3000 (3.0 engine) with no issues.
  2. My first was the Shakespeare combo from walmart for about $20. It almost turned me off of baitcasters totally. I decided to upgrade to a pinnacle Solene and it was night and day between the 2. I used PQs and pfluegers from there and now have moved to daiwas. I will say as of right now the T3 platform is the best I have used so far.
  3. I've made quite a few Pretty easy to do. I used a lightweight nylon type material. Basically you want to measure the distance at the bottom for you rod ( casting and spinning will be different). I made mine with a lightweight nylon material. Take whatever material you want to use and fold it In half. Measure the size base you want ( mine was 2" ) and then to a point with the length you want ( mine were 5'-6'ft). Cut a straight line from you base point to the point. Sew the loose edges together and flip inside out. Sew a piece of elastic on the bottom opening to attach to the reel (this will help it stay down) and you are done. Having said all that I pretty much just buy the rod socks now because by the time you buy the material and put the time into making them (about 20-30 min when you get good at it ) it's just easier to buy them.
  4. So it looks like giving freedom of choice he thought the SX was the best I guess? Or maybe he got some for free?
  5. I know Alton was sponsored by ardent but noticed at the St. John's elite event on TV he appeared to be using and abu garcia revo sx. I can't find anywhere about him changing and I can certainly u stand not using a sponsors bait but why would you use a reel that wasn't for your sponsors?
  6. Umm no we don't..... There are no fish here. .... Smallmouth In the south sheesh what what will they come up with next .....lol. All kidding asidethebroad is a great river to fish. Find some good deep pockets below therapies and rocks and it is on! Best day I had out there was 25 in a day. 12 came from one spot in an hr. Literally every cast came in with a fish.
  7. Have em, love em, wish I had more money to buy more of em. Great reels. A lot of people are turned off by the zaion frame and I was skeptical also until I started catching fish with it. Very solid feel with no looking back. If possible get the 8:1 as mine came with a different and upgraded handle than the 7:1 did.
  8. Yes wateree has produced some great sacks lately. I hope it continues. We really need to have some first class fisherys again. I base my opinion solely on the history of big fish coming out of santee and it still produces. If wateree stays where it's the next few years I may have to change my mind!
  9. Only baitcasters from the kayak here. Only get 2 rods when I go fishing and both are BC. No problems with using them just takes practice as some have said.
  10. The rod riots happen at various times throughout the year. There is really no set dates that I know of but just keep checking online for your local stores. They have had them online too but I am not sure when. Seems like the last one they had online a week before my store did.
  11. The ethos line is very good. I have checked out the nano series and they seem like they will be a great rod at the $99 price. Even better when academy has their rod riot and they will be 79.99. I would not hesitate to purchase one. FWIW the original ethos is the only rod I have paid full retail for and it has been worth every penny.
  12. Probably Santee Cooper. But most if the professional tournys that come here always go to Murray , Strom Thurmond ( aka Clark's hill... Why we ever decided to name it something different than Clark's hill is beyond me) or Lake Hartwell.
  13. I have seen several pros recently suggesting using flouro.
  14. You will not be sorry on the purchase. I was hesitant at first of the frame material but it has held up fantastically and i may start preferring it to aluminum. You will be happy with the 8. I order 2 one was the 8 and the other the 7 and much to my surprise the 8 had a much better handle which was one gripe most people had with it. It came with a handle that looked like the one you find on the lexa or exceller reels.
  15. Check the facts my man. My tigers won the game and handed Illinois the loss. movin on to the quarter finals!
  16. You will probably get allot of different opinions on this topic. FWIW I think the Ethos is the best bang for your buck option. It has quality components a good lightweight sensitive blank ,is less expensive and a lifetime warranty if taken back to the store . It really out shines the lighting rod for $20 more but trying to make up the $20 on the veritas (which is my next pick) or the $40 extra for the *** (which I admittedly have not used but wasn't impressed enough to buy when I handled it) would be difficult to do. Most of my rods are veritas (bought for less than the $80 mark). I have several ethos and the only rod I have ever bought for full retail price simply because I thought it was the best bang for my buck.
  17. Here are some pics from the ones I saw today. Really comfortable grip and duckett like micro guides. Gonna be a real contender @ the $99 mark.
  18. In the spirit of chuck Norris jokes let's see if we can get our creative juices flowing and come up with some good ones for Glenn and the mods. Long mike tied his first knot at age 6. It still hasn't broke Road warrior uses jaws as his lure retriever. The wind was blowing east until 00mod wanted to go fishing. Then it changed direction. Glenn cuts braid with his teeth.
  19. Chick Norris died 20 years ago. Death is just to afraid to tell him.
  20. Well seeing how Edwin Evers just finished 2nd in the classic and fishes mostly with a $100 reel and $120-$150 rods I would say no. But I also don't know what your idea of high end is. Mine would be $300+ reels and $200+ rod.
  21. They are nice for bling factor and are fairly comfortable. Functionality wise they serve no added purpose but some like the feel better than rubber knobs. Defiantly worth tryin a pair to see if they are right for you.
  22. Sounds like the genie granted him his first wish.
  23. Is that the same as ah chit load? If so that would be me too.
