Energy PT rods?
I did a search but couldn't find much. Those Energy PT rods look great on paper {hardloy guides, lifetime warranty, etc}, but I am wondering if anybody has some real world experience with them? How is Quantum when it comes to warranties? I was thinking of maybe getting that Code/Energy PT combo from BPS. Thanks!

Musky Fishing
Good advice, billbrum! My cousin came Muskie fishing with me once and all he brought was spinning gear! I asked him "where is your muskie stuff!?!", he replied "this is it". Doh! Anyhow, I would look into a Shimano Compre Muskie rod paired with a Garcia 6500. This setup could very well last your lifetime. For lures you can get some Muskie candy bucktails {can't go wrong with black!} or similar, jerkbaits in a few sizes and colors, huge terminator spinnerbaits, and some topwater {not recommended if you have a weak heart!}. Hope you guys catch a giant and have a blast!

New Reel Advice
Thanks for the replies, fellas. Looks like the Citica will be it than. I was wanting something that will last a really long time, and it sounds like the winner in that department. P.S. Reel Mechanic and Ballpark Frank, good job on the no smoking! It is nice to see others doing the same thing! I had been wanting to quit for a while, so when a pack of cigs got to be about $5, and my niece kept ragging me, that was all the motivation I needed! Plus, it's sure nice to able to breathe again

Hot temp fishing ?????????
I've always had great luck throwing an unweighted plastic worm under docks in super hot weather.

New Reel Advice
Hey fellas, I have been sort of "out of the loop" for a while when it comes to gear, but, I am looking for a new reel to celebrate 1 year smoke free. I have been looking at the Daiwa Tierra, Shimano Citica, and Pflueger Asaro. This reel will be my "all around" reel that I do most stuff minus super heavy slop fishing with. They all seem great so I am really torn! I am leaning Daiwa, but just don't know. Thanks for any help

night fishing for trout
Night fishing for trout, eh? Never tried that but it sure sounds like fun! I would try some spoons {small mepps, buckshot rattle spoons, etc} and small crankbait/minnow baits. I always had good luck with small grasshopper shaped cranks with a little piece of power bait on them. I also like the small floating Rapala's in a "brown trout" color, or a rainbow color. Good luck and have a blast!

Favorite fishing partner
I fish with my friend Adam or my 4 yo niece Julia. I like to hunt alone though, not safe, but so peaceful.

Yes, we're good L-b-h and others . I usually have a good sense of humour but I really thought you guys were serious. I realised my mistake of saying I'm a pike guy in a bass thread, and I just wanted it to go away cause I was already embarressed by that. But good God, I'll quit crying a river here lol. Please guys, I owe you all the apology for making something out of nothing. I am truly sorry about that. my mistake We are all friends here!

Oh god, enough already L-b-h. You know full well I wasn't upset because I didn't make "your" list, it was more the truly unneccesary harsh words. Ok yes, I made the mistake and should have known you meant bass related only. You don't have to beat around the bush with comments like "off topic"-refering to my posts. Honestly, I'm so embarressed now I don't even wanna post here anymore. But, I'm not gonna let a few guys scare me off, I just know who to avoid from here on.

Draggin' spinnerbaits
You got it bowjunkie, if you're not getting snagged and bringing in weeds, it's time to move! It's that constant contact and change in bait movement that really makes this technique hot. I also attribute alot of strikes due to that massive thump your blades give when reeling super slow. I mean, I can feel that thump up my entire arm so you know the bass can sure feel it. I use double Colorado blades for this but I'm sure tandem would be fine too. 20lb braid is my line of choice, it really helps feel the bottom. I use 3/8oz where I fish {about 7-9ft} but you may wanna go bigger for deeper water. It's alot of fun, and best of all, it's just another way to use the already awesome and versatile spinnerbait

Draggin' spinnerbaits
I don't hear this method mentioned much at all here so I figured I'd share. Not to be confused with slow rolling, as this is a bottom fishing tactic. I believe this method is best in spring and fall, but surely can be used all season. Heres how I do it. I find 2 large weeds beds, reeds prefered, with a channel between them. I like reeds because they typically grow in sand/hard bottom and usually there is rocks mixed with them. I position the boat directly in the middle of the channel between the beds. All I do is cast to the middle, or deepest, part of the channel and let the bait sink. Now, I slowly bring it back, dragging it on the sand, ticking the rocks, and ripping through the scattered weeds. All that commotion really seems to trigger a bite just about anytime, in any weather. Reel just slow enough to feel the bottom and your blades pumping slow and steady. I hope this helps somebody and if any of you guys use this method please share your experiences with it, and any tips you have!

How did you do this years so far?
Nothing special this year, got my pb bluegill but noone cares about that. I taught a buddy how to properly skip worms under docks, and watched him catch his first "dock bass". That to me is an accomplishment. Ok yea, this year blew for me

Plastic Lizards
I really like this thread. Up here in the north nobody uses lizard baits. I never gave them much chance myself. However, next year I will dedicate much time fishing them exclusively as I believe, like the jig, they are a "big fish bait". Can't wait!

Whats your craziest catch?
Believe this if you want or not, but I swear it is true. Me and 2 friends were fishing smallies on the Mississippi river one evening, using jigs and minnows. My buddy lays down his rod for no more than 20 seconds and poof, a fish, catfish I presume, steals his rod. Well, about a month later I'm fishing the spot, I catch his rod, take it home, clean it up, and I've never told him to this day that I caught his rod. I'm so evil

I'm the local muskie/pike dude, does that count? :-/

how long before you set the hook?
When I feel a tap, or see my line run, I reel in any slack, feel for pressure, and than set. That seems like alot but it all happens in a flash. My buddy waits way to long and he really does miss alot of fish because of it. I do pretty good with un-weighted plastics but I need some work on T-rig's and C-rigs, or any other weighted rigs.
