A Special Thank You for ReelMech
Being that David lives about 45 mins. from me , I have been to his shop several times last yr. He needs to bring one of his custom rods and supertuned reels up here in about 5-6 wks. We would probably not see another fisherman, but we might just see some bass. I think you know what I mean.

Best line for spinning rig???
Try the p line cxx 6lb. The best combination of strength, castability, etc. that I've found for smallies. Next in line is yo zuri ultra soft 6lb.

Stuff You Bought , recommended here, that you didn't like
Overhyped: yo zuri hybrid ultrasoft. Underhyped: daiwa tdx, viento, sol, sufix braid, powell rod

10lb Fire Line Crystal Review
I tried the 14/6 fireline crystal and also thought it was not smooth. However, it did get a bit smoother with use. Still does not compare to sufix braid which is the best I've tried so far. Yesterday, we transferred the fireline crystal to a friend's reel and he fished with it for awhile.....said he wouldn't buy it, but can't find much wrong with it. Pretty much my take.

Daiwa ss tournament1300 question
OK, if there is a better option, say under $100.00, name it. Casting performance is paramount.

Daiwa ss tournament1300 question
Am considering this reel for wade/long cast fishing. Not necessarily for bass , but for other species. Anyone have an opinion on this reel ? Are there better long cast design spinning reels ?

Who makes the blanks for Gander Rods?
I actually fish with three gander mtn. tournament series rods. I like them so much for the price that I did a search and there are a few posts that "suggest" that they are made in the st. croix factory. The tournament series rods are light, have fuji alconite guides, and come with a lifetime warranty...all for $79.99. I own loomis, st. croix, airrus, and powell...and what rod do I put on my new shimano calais......7MH gander mtn. Figure that one out.

bank fisherman....
There is a product called 3rd grip rod holder that I use. It straps around your waist and holds the rod at an angle that is out of the way and doesn't impede casting with the rod in your hand. I have a small plastic tackle box in my back pocket. I'll only wear a backpack when I'm walk/wading a long way from my vehicle. In the backpack I'll have water, snacks, spare spools, etc.

yo zuri hybrid
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the specs on yo zuri hybrid breaking strength are for YO ZURI HYBRID, not ultra soft. I would assume they are seperate forumulations. Having fished both, they are different and I personally feel that ultra soft in the same poundage is not as strong as hybrid. I've even contacted yo zuri and have not gotten a response.

Daiwa TDX comments...
This must be the Rodney Dangerfield of baitcast reels. Seems not to get enough respect. I just had my TDX serviced by the REEL MECH .It went from an already great reel to awesome. I've got other high end reels, but the TDX supertuned gets used the most. When conditions limit me to just one or two rods, this reel can do it all. Cast far. Throw 1/8. Into the wind. I have larger hands so the profile doesn't bother me. Now...the rash that this reel developes over time is DISTURBING. She ain't purty, but she's a keeper.

Best spinning reel value
Having owned president's , stradics, symetres, etc. Daiwa Exceller is the best value winner.

Zebra mussels breaking my line....what line to use
I just started fishing this lake that has zebra mussels. For those of you that deal with lakes with zebras, what kind of line do you use ? I hooked three and broke three off only to have ticked off smallies still jumping trying to shake my lure. I just quit fishing because I thought it was fruitless. I was using mono in 6lb test. Will braid work ?

Ultralight Reel?
I have two catalyst 10 and a symetre 750. All holding up well for over two yrs. The symetre 750 would get my vote.

Daiwa Tierra, Exceler, Cabela Tournament ZX
I have two excelers, a couple symetres, and one stradic. For the money, I'd choose the daiwa exceler anyday.

Need a spinning rod for 1/8 oz lures ????
My limit is around $150.00. I find that I throw 1/8 lures most of the time and since I walk/wade I want a light distance caster. What do you guys recommend ?

Does Anyone Like The Fenwick Eagle GT?????
I can't comment on the size rod you are interested in, but I recently picked up a fenwick eagle gt 4'9" UL for my crappie dock rod. Never owned a fenwick before, but for the specific use I bought this rod for...it excels. A friend has just ordered one and another is thinking about getting one. For the price, and a 5 yr. warranty, I'd say it is a real decent rod.

I need a multipurpose smallie spinning rod....
to match with a symetre 2500 or daiwa exceler 2500. This rod should be an excellent range caster, be light, and sensitive. Suggestions please.

Re: Baitcast reel for 1/4 oz rig for long distance
castin... Please recommend a baitcast setup for throwing 1/4 oz type lures with an occasional smaller bait. Would have to deal with the wind and be efficient. I already have spinning gear, but would rather stick with the baitcast setup.
