  1. I like City Limits, but I record them so I can watch the ones that look interesting and delete the others. For some reason, I can't stand Fish TV.
  2. Dr. Pigg, Sounds like a great trip. I'm in west TN too and looking forward to some good fishing out this way. Bc
  3. I guess I'm weird like that. I've never even fished another stick style bait besides the senko, and I guess I've been fishing them for 9 years. Guess I'm boring, and have confidence in them. I've probably only owned a total of 6 different colors over that time, in 4" and 5". I'm probably missing out, but I'm also realizing that I don't have time to fish all the different styles of soft plastics that I own as it is. So one style stick bait it is!
  4. I use a couple of 9' fly rods (8wt and 9wt) for single pole jigging for crappie out of a boat. They are prob the greatest rods I've ever used to do this, BUT, way overpriced for the job, considering you can get nice jig rods for $40-$60 and these fly rods cost me $150 and up. Don't really have the heart to sell them, as one was a gift, and the other has sentimental value, but since moving from the coast, I haven't been fly fishing the salt, so I figured I'd use them for something else. I'm sure it will turn my stomach if/when I ever bust one crappie fishing. BC
  5. When throwing hardbaits especially, I've always stuck more to natural shad and craw patterns on KY Lake. Was thinking about picking up some stuff (maybe even soft swimbaits) in bluegill and perch patterns. I know there's plenty of bream in the lake. Anyone care to share if they've had success on these types of patterns? Thx!

Again, wanted to experiment with position of weight, with different baits.

Figured using the crimp ons would give me the ability to play with the position of the weight, varying the action by bait. Plan to try them with senkos, small swimbaits, and maybe even some chigger craws/pacas to see how it works. Also planning on picking up some of those snagless brewer slider heads to play with too.

This year I'm trying those crimp on weights from Bass Pro. I'll be using them on Gammi EWGs and Owner twistlocks.
  9. I'm fighting the bait monkey. Was in Bass Pro the other night, only had about $20 worth of stuff in my hand, and in a moment of sheer "I really don't need this stuff", I just put it all down and walked out. Now I want to go back and get it. How does anyone have time to fish all of these baits/techniques/rigs, and do it confidently? BC
  10. Not sure where, or what species you're fishing for, but lipless cranks (esp. the older saltwater Rattlin' Raps), fin-s jerkbaits, bombers, poppers (chug bugs etc.) and bucktail jigs will all work. I fished the surf for striped bass for many years, where fish would range from 8-40lbs, and all of the above worked well at times. I did fish a lot of larger plugs though, like bomber long A's and wooden plugs.
  11. I used to use those BPS binders with the velcro closure, and keep the plastics in their original bags. The bags fit in the binder pouches. The only problem was that I was bad about "zipping" the zip locs, so stuff would fall out. Now I've got the Shimano Baraja binders, and the whole thing zips up. so now I close the original bag, but if I don't zip the binder bag, no big deal.
  12. Where are you guys finding this stuff? I've only seen it on Cabelas, and I really hate to pay shipping for just some line. I'm in West TN, an nobody I've found carries it, nor does TWarehouse. Thx, BC
  13. I also do "water" tests in a mop bucket in the winter. The Berkley shakey worms float and look good to me on a shaky or even drop shot. Gonna be using them more this year, so I'll report. Also, picked up some great looking shaky worms from Charmer Baits. Really love the way they look, but haven't used them yet.
  14. Funny how some people's least faves are some of my faves...senkos and worms. I agree though, I haven't been very good with spinnerbaits.
  15. I went with the M/F, since I already had a couple other MH rods. Seems like it will be a nice crisp rod. Thanks for the suggestions!
  16. Do you mean the magic shad or the live magic shad? Haven't used them, but was considering picking up some of the magic shad or panic minnows. BC
  17. Sorry bout that
  18. Folks - need some advice. Pretty set on buying a new Clarus casting rod. I'd like to be able to throw deep cranks from time to time, but I don't do a lot of it, and budget doesn't allow to buy a bunch of rods right now. So, versatility would be nice. I know that no rod can do it all. Looking at the 7'Clarus, in M/Medium Fast, M/Fast and MH/Fast. What do you think of these 3? Thanks, BC

Thanks for the responses. Big-O, why do you put the smokin rooster at the bottom of that list?
  20. What kind of bags are those with the zippers? Been looking for some myself. Was hoping the Shimano Baraja binder I just ordered would have them, but no luck. Thx, BC

Admittedly, I'm not much of a creature bait fisherman, as I have more confidence fishing the water column with other baits. However, I'd like to add a creature bait to the box, that I can fish on top in the slop. Considering the Rage Tail Space Monkey, the Zoom Super Brush Hog, the GYCB Kreature, and the Kriet Kreature. Sure I could buy a pack of each, but just curious what you folks think. Thx, BC
  22. You'll find fish in the grass and on ledges, with current being the key. I'm no expert ledge fisherman, but May can find the fish in all the likely places depending on water temps. BC
  23. Hey everybody. Just thought I'd introduce myself. I live in west TN and primarily fish KY Lake (still figuring out ledge fishing) and some of the watershed lakes near Lexington. Hoping to learn some of the Hatchie this year, as I haven't spent any time on it, but it's closer to the house than some of my favorite areas on the TN River. Any other West TN'ers on here? BC
  24. I know there's a local bass fishing club that meets in Brownsville, that has some tourneys as well. They're usually at the shows too. I'm not allowed to post links yet, but google Haywood County Bass and you'll find them.
