I had seen this fish the last two times I had been in that spot. It was REAL shallow, underneath some over hanging trees, and would swirl on anything thrown. Guess I just ticked her off good.

Im more of a 2 casts kind of guy.

Lucky Craft Sammy 100. It is noisy, easy to located, and makes a nice wake.

Never understood the need for artistry on a reaction bite bait. Shrugs.

Can't go wrong with a good topwater. Get a small lucky craft sammy or a zell-pop

Man, that fish DESTROYED it! I had a few on Guntersville 2 weeks ago eat my swimbaits like that. Terrific feeling!

Had 3 trips in 4 days. One of those with my 5 year old daughter, one tournament, and one with the whole family (wife and 2 kids). Without giving too much away, finally got my numbers up and caught a MONSTER small mouth.

Swimbait. It will not get caught with a stead retrieve. If can be manipulated to fall into holes in timber, brush the cover, etc. Also, a hook set isn't as important on a good swimbait bite. They hook themselves.

Being a power fisherman, I will say this: If you only caught two small fish all day, you don't have much to complain about. Doesn't sound like they were on to me. It would be different if, say, you caught those two fish back to back. If you want a good bait to use in this situation, go to a swimbait on a 3/16 to a 1/5 ounce weighted hook. Cast a little ahead of the boat centerline. Some swimbaits don't like fast retrieves, so make sure you select on that does. I have two molds for my swimbaits: a fast retrieve and a slow retrieve. they are the same size and look almost identicle, but they each need different speeds for the same action.

I can't say I have ever seen that. Certainly seen the carp and gar do it, though.

Also, one of my good buddies uses light spinning with braid as well. He uses it for everything...and does well. But, he also hasn't hooked a 6lb+ in the deep summer in the grass.

I would have to say I have a split: I love my frog rod combo. It handles frogs, spinnerbaits, and swimbaits with ease. Spooled with 50# braid. My other is my cranking rod. It's a fiberglass med fast. I don't lose very many fish on it, and they all feel like giants! Both of these are hand made. Think I have some pics on my blog. it's listed below.

Water Temperature: 63 Water Clarity: 0 Once again, my favorite time of the week! Thursday night wildcat tourny! Fished the lower Redstone Army Recreational area during the Ditto Wildcat tournament. Caught over 20 fish, with few of them measuring. Our largest was over 2.5lbs. Tournament took 15 pounds to win with big fish in the upper 4s, including a BEAUTIFUL 4+ smallie.

Man, nobody likes them? HAHA!

To be honest, I used to have a lot of tackle, as in variety. But after losing baits, getting robbed(yes. my boat was CLEANED OUT), I have very few baits. I have 4 falcon thin stows. I have a good bit of plastic. I do keep a lot of spares, however. I could fit everything I own into a duffle.

Top water is, by far, my favorite method of fishing. However, I havn't had enough bites on Guntersville or Wheeler to start being confident with it. This year has been different than previous years for me, because i USED to get bites on top water regardless. This year, I have caught 1 fish on top water.

Had a DECENT trip. Didn't win any money :-( But drank some beer with a good friend :-) Good read at my blog, so take a second and read it!

Aliens? Absolutely. Strangley enough, they work for NASA. I have some that have offices right next to mine. Wait. Those are just nerds.

I love me some frogs! Weightless plastics. Also, isecond the money hound. Used it a few times last year with success.
