  1. My go to is always a wacky rigged Senko/Dinger. Usually Watermelon. Pull up, shake a couple of times, let it settle.
  2. Like alot of said, I have always thought it was due to agitatation from catching shell fish like crawdads. I suppose it COULd be a blood thing. After all, the colder the water, the lower the oxygen solubility. So, physiologically, the blood flow must be higher in the winter.
  3. What kind of lake? Terrain? Depth? These things matter.
  4. First thing I do is cast parrallel to the weedline with a spinner bait to see if i can locate fish. Maybe a Sammy just to the line. Then to cranks(which you may abandone if you can't keep it clear). Then to plastics cast just inside the weedline. After that, I move to the weedline and attack with frogs, buzzbait, looking for that quick strike. Then I go to TR plastics.
  5. Personally, I would throw something VERY finnese like. Nothing that makes a big splash or wake. Something you might try is to get as far away as you can, cast a jig or creature bait against the bank, ease it into the water and crawl it.
  6. While I can't boast to having caught alot DD fish , I can say that every single one that was 5+(including my 2 10s) was caught with a frog. And that ranges from Guntersville to private ponds. But, then again, I throw frogs. Alot.
  7. Granted, I am a novice on Guntersville.... But the only fish we have caught in the last month are on slow moving plastics. Namely, junebug magnum lizards. Dad will throw this all day while I swap between other baits and styles. I still manage to find that one "glory fish" on a crankbait and 1 or 2 on a frog. We are averaging about 1 to 2 an hour, although we have seen periods that landed 7 plus in 30 minutes. But no size.... I hear that they are catching them on deep running cranks, but I just havn't seen it. I will throw a 12 foot DT in silver or olive for about 30 minutes without the first bite. Slow roll, burn, stop and go...nothing.
  8. This happened to me this weekend. i was very worried that I had destroyed the fish's stomach. I threw him in the livewell, content to take him home. Yet, 5 hours latter, he was thrashing like mad. I let him go.
  9. terrific video. I appreciate that.
  10. I bet that fish made a "WHAM" when it hit. Slow retrieval?
  11. I have had this same problem in our family lake. It is a combination of extremely dry summers+slow leak+over population. I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the same.
  12. I LOL'd at that. It is soo me. I have agree with either your presentation is a little off, or they are simply curious.
  13. Terrific info. I will have to ty this.
