  1. I have a jon boat with no seats mounted just the built in benches. I really need to put swivels seats in it, but I have a few issues. I don't use a trailer and we just throw it on the SUV roof racks. I'm looking at the mounts that clamp on. I can get 2 seats and mounts for a lil over $100 @ Cabelas. Has anyone had any experience with these? I don't want to spend a penny on this boat that I don't have to because I'm looking for something better next year. I don't want to get these and then find out they are worthless. I can't treat it as an investment either since I agreed not to sell the boat as it was given to me. All the other money I put into it are for things that can be transferred to another boat (trolling mtr, depth finder, etc..) Money is an issue because I'm on disability and can only work part time. Thanks, Bill
  2. I learned that trick from my dad 40 years ago. Growing up with 3 sisters and now having 2 daughters I've learned to use nail polish for other things too. I keep some in my toolbox and tackle box. Kids don't seem to use good 'ol RED much anymore though. I cracked a Rapala minnow earlier this year and sealed the crack with red nail polish. It looks injured, but the crack changed the action of the retrieve to a near spin. I'm sure I'll find a time when it comes in handy.
  3. After we watched that I told my son I will never ever complain about troubles I have tying knots because of calloused fingers and weak eyesight. What a fantastic person with a fantastic story.
  4. 7 lb 8 oz 23 1/2" caught 20 years ago while catfishing. I caught it while helping a friend land a big cat and I was trying to get my nightcrawler and line out of the way when she nailed it. I have been a bass fishermen ever since that day and I can't even remember the last time I used any live bait. I just dug the pix out and need to get them scanned to jpg.
  5. Just last week I was fishing a crankbait and I was within a foot or two from the boot already getting ready for the next cast when a huge chain pickerel came up and grabbed the bait. Scared the crap out of me. I got her out of the water a few inches but couldn't set the hooks. I was very lucky I didn't lose the rod and reel.
  6. Monday I was fishing a local reservoir from the bank. I saw a fantastic spot and climbed down the bank to it. Getting ready to cast and all of a sudden my legs start burning. I was stranding on top of an underground bees nest. Got stung about 20 times in the legs and then my arm from swatting them. Climbed the 50' bank in record time without dropping any of my gear. Luckily I just had some minor swelling.
  7. I'd say I'm a 5, but I usually do better than the other amateurs fishing nearby. I have to stay away from the pros, I'd be so embarassed I'd never fish again.
