  1. My plan is to extend the deck back to the consoles and place a 30 gallon livewell right in the center of the boat. And use the rest of the under deck space as storage but I cant figure out how it is possible to have a rod locker. If you need any specific measurements, let me know The boat is 53" wide at the back of the current deck. Thanks for any help and if anybody has any other suggestions about the whole remodel, please feel free post them.
  2. Here are the pictures.
  3. And do the same with one piece of braid and one piece of mono. You may get different results with different diameters as well.
  4. Any disadvantages of using a really long rod? Like the St. Croix legend tournament in 7'11"?
  5. Thanks. I am 6'7", so I should look for something atleast 7'6", if not longer?
  6. Looks just like my homemade ecaller...
  7. Sounds like I better get something different for flipping. Would these make decent frog rods or C-rigging rods? I like to keep extra rods around as loners and for the $20 price tag I dont know if I could go wrong especially if I could use them for other things myself. Do you guys recomend a rod longer than 7' for a flipping stick or is that long enough?
  8. The specific model I am looking at is GC766-T.
  9. Yep Ill take some pictures later today. It is a MonArk McFast series.
  10. I have an older bass boat and it does not have a rod locker. I am in the process of remodeling it but it still does not have the space to make one even with a deck extension. Does anybody have the same problem? Do you just strap all of your rods to the deck? I also am wondering about back deck storage. My boat has absolutely no storage for the angler at the back of the boat. When I start fishing tournaments as a boater, is it fair to make my co angler store his stuff up front? Any other suggestions for storage?
  11. Cabelas has their xml rods on sale right now. These are cabelas top of the line rods and are now starting at 29.99. Better grab up a couple for yourself while you are there.
  12. I live on the very northwest tip of Washington State. I am used to fishing in extreme weather conditions when it is usually 100+ in the summer and in the negatives in the winter. Here on the coast, it usually stays in the 40s in the winter and we dont have many 80 degree days in the summer. How will the bass react to this? Do they still go deep or just stay up year round?
  13. Has anybody tried the new Roland Martin Tournament grade rods from lucky strike? Interested in the flipping stick specifically.
  14. Im not a shimano praiser but I have heard that most of their reels are a good value in their price ranges. I have a few excelers and they are excellent reels for the money. They have good backlash controls just like all of the diawa line IMO.
  15. Here is another vote for the exceler. They are excellent reels for the price and the aluminum frame might last for more than one season if you dont abuse it.
  16. I have the sunfish ones and I am happy with them. They definitely arent the quality of the higher end soft swimbaits. Two of the three in my package didnt track right but they are good for the price. I like to give them a stop and go action since they will "swim" as they dive down. Travis
  17. If the cattails are sparse enought to through a jig into them, do it. Just use heavy braided line. If they are too thick to get a jig to go through, you can cast along the edge. I would try to pitch or flip maybe 10 feet in front of the boat depending on visibility. If you are fishing clear water, try to stay further away. You want your jig to enter the water as quietly as possible.
  18. What does "Telescopic" mean on the 7'6" rod on your website? http://www.megastrikefishingproducts.com/shop/cart.php?target=category&category_id=102
  19. Thanks, I have looked at these maps and they are decent but I am really looking for the large paper versions. The kind that show you the underwater structure as well as the depth.
  20. Anybody have a good source for topo maps for Washington State lakes? I have searched the net and havent found much. Thanks
  21. I have a daiwa exceler and like it alot. You can find them for about $50. They have a solid aluminum frame, which beats the graphite you find on most other reels in your price range.
  22. I use yum spray scent but it is mostly just to cover up any foul odors. No matter how hard I try, it always seems that my hands come in contact with gas or something else negative whether I realize it or not.
  23. Thanks guys. And yes I have used rainbow trout colored jerkbaits and especially rat L traps with great success. One of the best ways that I have found to catch early bass is to use a rat L trap with the line "tangled" around the front hook with a stop and go technique. This is a very good representation of a wounded baitfish and when fished parallel with the shoreline and on the edges of heavy cover it can be deadly.
