My jig fishing success is due to the Coonass holding the rod!

I highly disagree ? One can flip, pitch, cast, skip, swim, & punch with any jig. There is no perfect flipping pitching, casting, skipping, swimming, or punching jig. Anglers today are spoiled!

Hard to tell what degree from the picture but compare it to my 2 choices.
  9. I have a Tatula TTU731MHFB, I throw Horny Toads, Ribbits, & buzzbaits with it as well as as light punching.
  10. My first Crucial was purchased more by accident than on purpose! I was browsing the aisles at our local K-Mart back when they had a decent tackle section. I noticed a little sales girl grab 4-5 rods & start marking them down. The last rod was a 5' 6" medium heavy fast Shimano Crucial & marked it $24.99! I picked it up walked to the register & paid for it! This was 30-35 years & I'm believe it was a first generation rod (green colored). I fished every generation Crucial until Shimano discontinued them.

Nahh ya good ? The direction of the line tie doesn't effect your jig coming through grass. Your line's tag end does! Hack Attack Fluorocarbon Flippin Jig or Terry Oldham's EyeMax Jig
  12. Sorry momma's birthday I'll circle back on this one.
  13. Yes Amen! ?
  14. ? The most difficult part of jig fishing is feeling the bite, many will tell you it aint like the bite you get on a Texas Rig but it is so get that notion out your head. Like with a Texas Rig those bumps, thumps, tics, & taps are easy to detect it's the ones where the bass inhales your jig without any tell-tale sign or line movement. I say now is the time to bring forth all your expertise on feeling subtle bites stored away in your brain from Texas Rigs. You will also hear "bass don't hold a jig long", don't be surprised when a 2 lb bass inhales your 1 oz jig without any tell-tale line movement and proceeds to sit there until you apply too much pressure at which time they spit it! Sounds kinda like a T-rig bite huh!
  15. I not only looked at but fished the Dobyns Champion XP Full Grip, Falcon Expert & Lowrider. They're not in the same league as the Tatula. The Tatula has a lot of the attributes of the old Shimano Crucial.
  16. I have both & don't see any difference between the two. In you opinion what makes the MP a dud?
  17. Diawia Tatula TTU711MHXB 7' 1" Medium Heavy X-Fast
  18. Lew's Tournament MP
  19. Watermelon Neon ?
  20. Excellent ? You have learned the hardest part, feeling the "bite".
  21. I prefer offset round bend hooks. Never had any luck with the Super.
  22. Regular spinnerbait, shallow crankbaits, maybe something on top.
  23. Growing up in rural southwest Louisiana I've pretty much always been a low budget hooker. My little Nissan Rogue gets 25-30 mpg. My 40 hp Tahotsu makes gas. Gas is $3.89 a gallon; for $40 I put 3 gallons in the boat & the rest in the Rogue. That's usually good for 3-4 trips. Tackle? I can make 3-4 trips & not spend a dime. Now if momma wants to go that's $400-700 cause that's gonna include a cabin.
  24. Most watermelon reds has (seed) black flakes in them. I feel no need to buy both so I just go with watermelon red.
