How's The South Florida Bite? Holiday, Big L Etc..
I'm sitting here in the backyard watching that storm. Pretty nasty. Was hoping to take off from the house around 4 with the kids to go out this evening. Not looking too great now though. Just wanted to let them pitch some senkos to the edges of the pads.

How's The South Florida Bite? Holiday, Big L Etc..
Yeah. All of the fish I caught yesterday weren't in the best condition. Lots of red spots that didn't look that good. Been hard for me to want to drive up to Lox with the fishing so good down here. Last time I was at Lox I didn't do so great. Water levels were down and made it difficult to really fish the flats like I want to do out there. As much as I like fishing canals, whenever I go to Lox, I'd much rather chuck moving baits over the grass flats.

How's The South Florida Bite? Holiday, Big L Etc..
Had a decent morning at Holiday today. Ran down south and just started flipping. Slow bite, but decent average. Missed a bunch of fish. Ended up with somewhere around 24 pounds. Was driving back home by 10:30. Total zoo out there today. Some special Olympics Bike event was going on. Tons of boats close to the ramps also. Glad I left when I did. Going back out tomorrow evening with my daughters. They want to get a little fishing in and watch the sunset over the Glades..... I'm stoked that they're volunteering to go out.

Motor Question
Well yeah. There is that whole money thing too.... The joysticks are pretty awesome. Got to play with them a bit at the show down here. I think Yamaha has a similar setup as well.

Motor Question
Fairly common down here to see boats rigged with three or four 300's or 350's on the back. If I were to repower my offshore boat, I would seriously consider doing something similar. Some of the new steering systems for multiple outboard boats are ridiculously sweet. I've had the chance to play with some of them. A good friend of mine runs a fairly well known boat manufacturing shop next to my shop. 1200 horsepower hanging off the back of a 36' deep V center console is a wild freakin ride. It all depends on what you're wanting to do.

Which Swimbait???
I throw fairly often down here. Haven't really thrown the 6" and up on anything other than the retention pits down in my area. I've used the Weedless shad and Weedless shiner all over the place though. Those things flat out catch fish. Little on the pricey side when you realize that they aren't the most durable things in the world. For the most part, I stick with the big ez/skinny dipper style paddle tails.

Heres A First.
Very cool. Heck of a surprise to stick one of those on Okeechobee. Fairly sure Osborne and Ida in west palm have sunshibe bass in them.

Okeechobee Tomorrow (5/2)
Found good numbers and decent size out of Slims. Water around Ritta was pretty dirty. Didn't spend long there. Ended up finding a sweet spot around Kreamer that was loaded. Had 18 pounds after the first hour of fishing and slowly upgraded after. Probably finished with around 22-23. Nothing huge, but fun nonetheless. Then I fried a piston heading back into the ramp. Happened right as I was getting ready to exit Boy Scout pass. Hopefully it's something simple like just the rings, but I'm expecting the worst. First and third cylinders have perfect compression, the number two reads absolutely zero right now.

Okeechobee Tomorrow (5/2)
Taking the day off to do some weekday fishing. Hopefully I can wake up early enough to make the drive to the lake. Lake levels at a hair over 13 ft. Probably be going out of Slims. Anybody been hearing any reports on the south side of the lake? Hoping to get onto a couple decent fish and test out a new prop for a bit tomorrow. Supposed to be some decent weather.

Need Help At The Lox
Yeah was you then. Was a white pickup towing it. Never had an issue out there with bird messing up my vehicle. That's a serious bummer.

Think I saw you backing into the ramp this morning, Ufgator. I was taking off while you were getting ready to launch. Nice lookin Z9. Good lookin color scheme on it. To be honest, I think most people had a rough day out there today. I had a long morning of catching a few small fish. Ended up flipping a pair of halfway decent ones. Right in the four to four and a half range. Nothing spectacular. Another member of the forums was there today and had similar results. I was loaded up and driving home by noon. Too hot, and not enough bites to make it worth staying. Water levels have dropped a good bit since I was last out. Can't really get too far back into the flats right now. You can run into them, just don't get off plane unless you want to fish that area. Wish I would had just manned up and went to Okeechobee. Was just worn out from fishing offshore yesterday and didn't really feel like driving that far.

Peacock Fishing In Broward County Florida
One thing I've learned over the years I've been catching peacocks, the harder and more violent you work the lure, the better your shot will be at getting a solid bite. Peacocks like quick movements and flash. The x-raps can and do catch them. Definitely a good purchase for Peacocks in our area.

Hot Holiday
I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence, but man have I seen a lot of bass boats in my area today. I live about 10-15 minutes away from Holiday. Hope you guys do good this weekend out there. With the bags you've been on Mike, you've got a shot to do really well.

35 mph posted limit as you leave the ramps.

Need Help At The Lox
Use google maps. You'll get a rough idea of where you can easily get to. It won't take you long to figure out where you can go. If you have a GPS, you won't have to worry about getting lost. Just use the track that you've already got on the machine to follow your way back. Run west from the ramps. If you go all the way down, you'll run into another large canal running north/south that you can spend a long time flipping the edges of the grass. At times, you'll find some big fish doing that, but it's hit or miss and can be very slow. Personally, I like leaving the ramps and heading to the west. Cutting out after you exit the canal and chuck swimbaits over the grass flats. Topwater baits at sunrise, then switch to moving baits as the sun gets higher in the sky. Try to find clear moving water. If you can find that, odds are there will be fish in the area. I haven't been out there for a couple of weeks, but the water levels were going down some. Not sure how low it is now, but probably still have room to run around. I might be out there Sunday. Trying to decide if I want to go there, or make the drive up to Okeechobee.

Shop In South Florida
Thanks Shane. I'll give him a buzz tomorrow. Hopefully be able to get it done in the next day or so. Planning on running up to Okeechobee Saturday.

Shop In South Florida
Any of you guys happen to know of a decent shop preferably in Broward that won't charge me an arm and a leg to remount an outboard? Just need to move it up a hole or two. I really don't feel like buying a lift eye from Mercury for what will probably be a one time use to do it myself.

Hot Holiday
No worries Lou. I've got a good idea of what Bruce and Mike are tossing out there. Noted, Bruce. I just wanted to land something. Probably burned through a pack and a half of plastics getting the pinchers ripped off.

Hot Holiday
I really need to get on some of those better stretches of fish. Need to jump up to that magic 30 pound range. Just need to spend some time on the water more out there. I was getting a ton of short bites a couple of days ago. Had to switch to a much smaller lure to get some good solid hookups. Once I did that it was game on. Who knows how many better quality fish I missed before I changed it up. I'm not sure what pattern you guys are on, but you need to do some sharing after that tournament.

Everglades L29 Report, And Caught The Wrong Species
Went back out to Holiday on Friday and tried a new area. Ended up with a good average. All around the same size as the one in the picture. Was going to go again today, but woke up to a tornado watch and thunder. Wish I had went instead of going back to bed. Ended up being a darn nice day outside today. Oh well.

Miami Bass Pro
Good store, good employees, horrible selection. I go there once in a while if I'm in a jam and need something, that's about it. It's only about a 10 or 15 minute trip for me to get there. I'd rather make the longer trip to the Dania store if I need to do some shopping.
